Nadal moreso
There is a reason why he fills up stadium and the game will suffer until the next player with all court game is successful
LolTennis does just fine with Nadal and Djokovic
Except they're nearing the end too. No one is tuning in to see anyone else really. Fed is just the first.Tennis does just fine with Nadal and Djokovic
Agreed.Maybe it's because i have seen him play for so many years but Federer's style doesnt captivate me anymore, as it used to. Although I do think he doesnt play that gracefully as he used to back in his physical prime. That was pure art
I was 100% expecting this to be one of his shanks from yesterday
He doesn't do it to be "purty". He's just whacking the ball as efficiently as he knows how.
Thank you.aesthetic
Billions of fans agree with you, OP.
Nadal moreso
Many objective non fans also agree
They are both correct. "Esthetic" is more commonly used in USA.Thank you.
I thought both are correct given the context.

Wrong. Esthetics is the American version of the word, but which has a slightly different and narrow meaning relating specifically to the cosmetic industry. It refers to the appreciation of beauty (eyebrows, hair, facial treatments etc). They are both correct. "Esthetic" is more commonly used in USA.

Aesthetics is the appreciation of something that is artistic or appealing to our senses (also a field of philosophy related to such).
In no way other than without additional added context is the use of "esthetics" a correct option here - unless of course we're talking liberally where parlance/spelling can be anything you want it to be (as is sometimes the case depending on the situation).
At least this gif didn't include a lasso finish.Good looking FH but the beauty of the stroke is nowhere where it used to be due to the takeback and the increasingly common lasso finish.

There was a time that everyone hit like this............but I guess I'm just old. My strokes are exactly the same.
It's mostly the fact that with his current forehand the tip of his racquet points forward for a lot longer than back in the day. The current takeback generates more spin and pace (since the racquet moves a longer distance in the same timeframe) whereas the older one is cleaner and more consistent. Makes sense considering the increase in headsize. His FH swing is much more compacted from what it used to be:

However, that video you posted is after he made big changes in his takeback; I think it was around K90 era / 2006-7 when he first switched. Nadal did something similar around 2006/2007. His old takeback was far more conventional (and IMO more versatile).
Yep.
Fed has had a few different FH and BH styles through his career.
I’d love to go into depth with it. I’ve spotted all the little changes hehe
Let’s DO go over all the changes.
Start a thread, you Fed fan, you...! I’m out so I won’t be able to reply tonight but I’ll be on it ASAP. Or at the very least, watching and learning
His FH swing is much more compacted from what it used to be:
Federer is fun to watch when the entirety of his game is working
But it's just terrible when parts of his game are misfiring and he is just relying on his serve to eke out tiebreakers
You mean back in the weak era.Maybe it's because i have seen him play for so many years but Federer's style doesnt captivate me anymore, as it used to. Although I do think he doesnt play that gracefully as he used to back in his physical prime. That was pure art
Today we got Roger in all his majesty!
to extend that, this whole video is sick (includes that clip), probably my favorite tennis video. You can really see the FH in all its glory and then as it changes for the worse. I love those side views because you can really see the timing and magnitude of the trunk rotation he gets, or got. Unreal. He almost tripped himself with that right toe on the landing there.
My favourite slow motion tennis video of all time is this:
