Wrong. Esthetics is the American version of the word, but which has a slightly different and narrow meaning relating specifically to the cosmetic industry. It refers to the appreciation of beauty (eyebrows, hair, facial treatments etc).
Aesthetics is the appreciation of something that is artistic or appealing to our senses (also a field of philosophy related to such).
In no way other than without additional added context is the use of "esthetics" a correct option here - unless of course we're talking liberally where parlance/spelling can be anything you want it to be (as is sometimes the case depending on the situation).

It's mostly the fact that with his current forehand the tip of his racquet points forward for a lot longer than back in the day. The current takeback generates more spin and pace (since the racquet moves a longer distance in the same timeframe) whereas the older one is cleaner and more consistent. Makes sense considering the increase in headsize.
However, that video you posted is after he made big changes in his takeback; I think it was around K90 era / 2006-7 when he first switched. Nadal did something similar around 2006/2007. His old takeback was far more conventional (and IMO more versatile).

Looks like a compact practice swing to me, the kind used to get warmed up, not his full swing he uses in matches.
Even a rec player like myself when I step on court, for the first few mins I'll choke up on the grip move inside the baseline and hit with an abbreviated swing until the arm is loosened up.
But I could be wrong... I'd have to see actually match footage with a before/after to be convinced there has been a change in the swing.

it is the footwork and movement just as much if not more than the strikes that makes fedr so aestheticly pleasing. many have smooth fh and bh but the craftiness, movement and intelligence is indispensable to the artistic whole.

Agreed. Filip played one of the strongest sets I've seen him play, and Fed took the set 7-5 on a screaming forehand that made Filip look.... stunned. Second set was just Fed in classic "I'm in the lead" cruise mode.

to extend that, this whole video is sick (includes that clip), probably my favorite tennis video. You can really see the FH in all its glory and then as it changes for the worse. I love those side views because you can really see the timing and magnitude of the trunk rotation he gets, or got. Unreal.
