So I found a profile name on Instagram that is dedicated for her...Halepeno:giggle:.

She once posted (recently) a photo on her Instagram account for her new shoes before the AO open with a chilli pepper image:

Unfortunately she lost againt Elise Mertens: 4/6 6/4 6/3.

Still I'll give the other half (...tulations) :p.

It was a good tournament, and Mertens one of the best Nex Gen girls, glad for her first BIG win (y). And to show a good sportsmanship, I'll make a dinner reservation for lovely Elise...JOHN WICK STYLE :happydevil:.

Looked like Halep was going to win easily in 2. Then Mertens started keeping the ball inside the court...which helps. Has that easy power.

Partial congrats to Simona & Julia Goerges in their doubles effort in Miami. Even tho it was a last-minute decision to play doubs together for this tournament, they took out the #2 seeds of Mlad & Babos in 1R. Sadly, they lost in 2R to Niculescu & Spears altho Simona & Julia won 11 games compared to 8 games for Monica & Abigail.

Ended up losing the match TB by 2 points, 8-10. Terrible way to determine the outcome of such a match. If the WTA/ATP is not going to play a real 3rd set, the least they could do is to go with a longer TB, like first to 15 or 21 with a 2-point advantage.

No appreciation thread for her till today! OK, this is the one.

No "official" Simona appreciation thread previously that I am aware of. However, there has been a de facto Simona appreciation thread (below) by @Marius_Hancu. Started in the Summer of 2014; it is currently 29 pages in length with over 1400 posts...

But Mahalo, Obrigado, Merci and Gracias are in order for starting this thread.

Even tho Simona just played the final (& tournament) of her life, she's still only #4 in the rankings next Monday... for a while. Noticed that her wiki page has already been updated. Her Win % at SW19 is now 75%. Just a tad lower than her 76% for RG. The US Open is now her weakest slam event = 64%. She likely take a break for a while but it wold be nice to see the US Open series as her next challenge.

Fans should respect her more, as a true great woman, just look at her activity out court...honestly a humanitarian not a commercial campaign!

What an incredible champion! So happy for her. I never expected her to win Wimbledon. To do it in such dominant fashion is amazing.

Her court coverage was exceptional today. I know Serena was slow and made a number of mistakes, but Simona just kept getting everything back, with interest. It seems like she's reached her potential. I'm looking forward to seeing this Simona in future slams!

I heard Serena say, after her loss to Simona, that she plans to play more of the smaller events to get her old game back but won't be playing San Jose prior to Toronto. Perhaps still smarting from her 6-1, 6-0 loss to Konta last year. Or maybe just doesn't want to overdo it.

Really hoping to see Simona back in San Jose this year (but she is currently not scheduled for anything prior to Toronto). She had asked for a late entry WC into San Jose (actually, still Stanford) in 2017 but was denied. Ended up playing in the brutal heat of DC instead. Had to withdraw from heat exhaustion after the 3rd round (having to play all heat of the early/mid afternoon). Did not return to either venue last year.

This is one of the campaign that she participates in:

And few weeks ago, there was an exhibition match in Romania, all the money went to support her foundation. She played against Daniela Hantuchova in singles, & against Fabio Fognini in doubles.

Her former coach Darren Cahill was there (as in Wimbledon, to support her). Of course there was the Darren/Simona show :)...

And a good point against Fabio :X3:...

She’ll have a lot of points to defend. Toronto win and a runner up in Cincy.
