Prince Textreme Tour 100 (310) Thread

I am considering buying a 310 and will leave it stock if I decide to do so. My friend gave me a blade 98 cv 16 x 19. I hit with it once and thought it was ok but nothing special.
It doesn’t have the rhs capability of the 310. And the string bed is a rather closed 8 main throat pattern. Low spin window

At Thursday, I will give the ported Tour version a new chance and try to give a feedback in comparison to the solid beam.

I always preferred the solid beam over ports on the other lines. But you never know.
The ported hoops always feel too headlight and too easy to swing. Not enough drag. And the also feel mushy. Not as crisp as the standard. But agai. I didn’t the the 310 port. So you never know

I think @LeftyJunk was supposed to give us his comparison
The demos just came in today. I ordered them on July 5th, shipping label was created on the 10th, they didn't actually ship until the 12th with the projected date of delivery on the 15th. But they didn't make it here until today and I don't hit again until tomorrow (Wed) night... I will post as soon as I get home tomorrow night after some singles!

100% Agree!!! This was exactly my first experience, when I was hitting for an hour with the ported beam.
It feels and plays like a completely different racquet . I know it is, but there is nothing what I love about the solid beam in it. The little muted, crisp but comfortable feeling from the solid Tour beam. The nice feeling in the air, the stability etc.
....so, but my ported beam was pre strung with YPTP. It feels much too muted and mushy for me. Now, its strung with RS Lyon at 53.

RS Lyon in the solid Tour beam feels like the string is extra made for this racquet!

If that string pattern on the o3 could be put on the solid beam 310.

JHC that would be the epic racquet of all time!

Hmmm.. I have 3 sets of rs lyon sitting at home. Time to give them a try.. I am playing with grapplesnake alpha.. I just got my 2nd 310 strung with grapplesnake tour sniper (which I suspect similar to rs lyon.. also a silver copoly)...and after that maybe rs lyon... rs lyon on vcp97 did not do good things to my elbow but to me comfort between vcp97 vs tour 310 is miles apart, even tho vcp97 on paper lower RA... go figure

i hear you but disagree. i think prince knew what they were doing with the 18 crosses. i love it. no regrets whatsoever.
Right I would never mess with the 310 as it is but definitely feel the 305 18x20 would play better with this o3 string spacing.

My main point is that a tight 16 x19 or 20 works better then an open 18x20 for these tours.

Just got back from playing a while and my thoughts are more concise now. I don't think the ports do much to help a player's type frame as they tend to reduce the feedback too substantially. Also, if you already are gelling with the solid beam version of a frame, I would just stick with it.

I'm hoping Prince can maybe look into some parallel drilling in the future and for goodness sake there should be a solid beam tour with 8 in the mains!

When I went from the DR98+ to the Phantom 100 O3 it was amazing. I could get to the ball quicker (less late hits) and insane spin on groundies/serves.
Instantly realized how much the broomstick was holding back my game.
But yea the lower control wasn't good for 1st/flat serves and targeting on all shots.

I’m very satisfied having recently switched to the TT310.

I was so pleased with the racket that I also purchased the TT100P which is the 18x20 equivalent of the TT310.

I am really impressed after my initial hit out. I don’t appear to have lost any spin, power or comfort and I have more control.

I’ll need to use it a bit more but, having owned or demoed soooo many rackets, I’m just really impressed at these 2 from Prince.

I highly recommend demoing these to anyone looking for a new racket.

So the 290 versions are exactly the same as the 310, just with less weight in the handle? I live in Europe and I can't order the L5 gripsize and there are import restrictions with TW. So my plan was to order the 290 and weight it up to 310 with a shrinksleeve.

Yes it is, I bought the 290 added a leather grip and added tungsten putty in the handle. Plays the same but you get some more customization options.

I think I saw that the new beast line has parallel drilling, so maybe they will use it on the next generation of the tour line as well

So the O3 is a lot less stable versus the regular beam in your opinion?

This is a great frame. As many have stated already it's a very balanced racquet. Good power, feel, spin and comfort without blowing you away in particular department. Mine is strung at 48 with TB Soft which works well for me. Will be trying Signum Pro X Perience, Volkl V Torque Tour and Cyclone next. Only mod I plan on making is adding a leather grip. The stock version feels a little mushy and I prefer a firmer feel. Fave shot with this frame? Big, lazy flat serve up the middle, letting the racquet do most of the work... BOOM!

sooooo, if I wanted to get the 100L (2015), put a half sleeve on it, maybe some bluetac in the trap door, and weight it up with lead, that would be the same except for the twaron? Same grommets etc? I have to admit that is tempting.

or is it the 100T???

The 100 t is 290 g and the l is 260.

The 15 TTs have a soft throat but kinda stiff hoop which never jived with me.

This is an idea for me. I hate rubbery grips and like leather. Can you tell us more about your customization and the weight of its parts and final weight of frame?

I can guess why you are tempted. It will save a chunk of cash. And you are right - same mold and interchangeable grommets. But it will play nothing like the new Tour 310.

So I played with the Tour 100 and Tour 100P tonight. For my 4.0 aggressive style of play the Tour 100 is for me. I was leaning towards the Pro Staff 97 Countervail up to this point but I am totally sold on the TT100. The TT100 is more stable, solid feeling, comfortable, and has more pop. Basically it's the more game friendly version of the Phantom Pro 100P I have been playing with. I really gelled with the PP 100P but was lacking power on serve and was tired of a sore shoulder from having to swing out on ever shot. The first advantage I give the PS97 is my second lefty slice serve. It was a little more precise with the PS 97 but I'm sure with a bit more time with the TT100 it will come around. One other downside of the TT100 is that it will eat up strings. They are notched pretty bad from one session of singles as compared to the PS97 but I string my own racquets so that is not an issue. Short balls were a breeze to get up and over the net with my forehand, volleys were stable, my one handed backhand was an easy transition, blocked backhand returns stayed deep, and hard flat first serves had great mph's! I will be ordering two matches racquets in the morning when the racquet techs are in!

My O3 has shipped quicker than I expected, picking it up on my way home from work!

Looks to be factory strung, and have a couple of matches lined up later so might even get to test it today.

Any idea what string might be in it? They're black so I'm guessing probably SG, which would be a reasonable comparison with my solid beam that's got Velocity in.

Cool So do you have a reg 310 as well ??

ugh this is exactly what i'm concerned about. 16x18 is too open and a string eater (especially on a 100 sq. in. head), and I generally don't prefer 18x20 patterns.

Why won't they just release this in a 16x19 solid beam pattern?!?

youre overthinking it.. it feels exactly like a pure drive as far as spacing, string eating etc.

it has a narrower head than most other 100sq inch sticks. so you dont need the extra c ross.

yes 100% agreed about overthinking it...
Also depends on the string... my current strings on it did not even notch one bit into 10+hours.... also they did not move one bit... It's grapplesnake alpha strung at 51lbs and settled around 47lbs... it was eating velocity (my arm resting string) before this and strings were moving but now it's less of an issue.. Again I have to admit I do not hit with big top spin...

@ludde how is "string eating" on rs lyon?

Hmmmm. I use velocity in a full bed. I am demoing this stick with a multi as well as the yonex vcore pro 310.
let us know how it plays.... velocity in general does move i feel like... it did play great with velocity as well... i have a post about that in the Velocity thread.

I will for sure. I just can't see movng away from my tours for another 18/20. I like the ports and this stick has never let me down. I am demoing these because I think I may benefit from a bit more pop and more open string pattern. I will say that string my own and do NOT want a stick that breaks strings too easy. I don't like stringing that much. My old PCG 100 constantly broke strings. Head velocity lasts a pretty long time in my tours. I did not break them quicky with the tt100p but I don't know how much wider the string spacing is on this 310. I hit with a friends yonex 330 last nght and I could tell it had more power than my tour, but it was just a tad heavy for me I think (although not much more than my tours). I would weight either of these stcks up a bit I am sure. I will report back.

are u able to compare velocity with reflex MLT in a full bed. I tried that and the power was nice but hated the muted feel. I have cyclone mains now with OGSM crosses at 52 which is nice

Reflex absolutely cements itself together for a total locked stringbed.

Prefer V myself. V + Cream even better.

Naaaa. Velocity is my fav multi. If I use a poly it is cream but I don’t think there is a big advantage. Arm says no to stiff strings and I don’t like them as much for volleying anyway.

I like the muted feel of velocity myself.
