lol diminish how?
Like I said, I have no problem with the return of the like button, but its inception clearly decreased the quality of the debates on this board - even with that it remains as the only decent place to discuss tennis on the internet. Way too much trolling came with the like button, it's not just a coincidence.
People say rubbish things here and there, and got motivated and stimulated to repeat that same antics on every thread because they get lots of likes. I understand there's a good point in that, like someone said, it is very useful in a lot of subforms specially when it related to tips, but on GPPD?
I got a little tired after Wimbledon this year or in every post-season break to open the main page of the forum and seeing 102 threads about who's the GOAT and then some new account trolls vomiting horse crap just for getting a couple of likes by their respective big3 fanbase. And in the end that's what mostly happens in every single thread after they came with it.
Likes count gives a false sense of validation, as it becomes a matter of how many people agree with you rather than if you're right or wrong. So no matter if you're commenting some ********, but if someone agrees with you or not.
People here comment matches they haven't seen, players they never saw playing, make some comparisons with absolutely no context... just to get a couple of likes. And then they do that in every thread, every single time. Just to get more likes.
