Federer and life after the retreat: "I would like to teach tennis at the Rafa Nadal Academy"

Roger does not yet have precise ideas about his retirement, but he knows perfectly well what to do next: to teach young people, perhaps together with his usual rival

In recent times, Roger Federer is inevitably forced to talk a little more often about his future. With the approach of the 2020 season, many people ask themselves what the Swiss's intentions are. In recent days, the Basel champion has revealed some details about his schedule for next year, confirming his intention to play both the Tokyo Olympics and Roland Garros .

The hot topic, however, when it comes to the Swiss's future, is obviously the question of withdrawal on which Federer himself does not yet seem to have the precise ideas. " They've been asking me for a while, I'm sorry, I still disappoint you ... I didn't decide when I will stop, " the Swiss told SportWeek (the sports weekly attached to La Gazzetta dello Sport due tomorrow). However, during the same interview, Roger proved to have a very specific plan regarding life outside the circuit. " I would like to teach young people tennis. And I'd like to do it with the Rafa Nadal Foundation". A special declaration that once again certifies the evolution of the relationship between these two samples, passed from the simple estimate of the first times to what we could perhaps also define friendship.

Federer has also always been a great supporter of the Nadal Academy, whose inauguration he attended as a guest of honor . " If my children want to play tennis, I will definitely send them here, " he said on that occasion. Now it seems to have opened more than a crack for a historic collaboration that could project the Majorcan project towards a completely different dimension .

Federer is shrewd. He is doing his level best to keep his name linked inextricably with Nadal, who seems fated to overtake him. Even when Nadal passes him in slams, maybe him and his team can try and push the "co-GOATs" narrative if it seems like they are joined at the hip.

There is NO WAY that would happen. Press articles sensationalize stuff.

Fed might make some guest appearances, but NO WAY he teaches full time at the academy. Fed and Nadal ARE rivals. One of them will be the Best of this era.
No way they can hang out like pals after retirement.

Anyway, Fed is the RICHEST tennis player of all time. He and his children NEVER have to work for money. He can just enjoy his millions and still stay involved in tennis without needing a JOB.

It’s not up to Fed or Rafa to campaign to be co-GOATs. Their names are entrailed and linked to each other wether either fan base likes it or not. We can not talk about one without mentioning the other.

Do you really think Fed is a closeted gay man? Seriously? Generally, another top player is the one invariably tagged as being covertly gay.

I don't. I'm really just ****posting.
I do think there is an insane taboo on male gay athletes, but the idea that it would be so strong people of that stature wouldn't come out is actually depressing, even if it's conceivable considering many tournaments are in homophobic ****holes and it potentially hurts the market value of a player.

Coming outs of famous people are generally heavily publicized and marketed, which is ****ing stupid cause it's actually making some huge deal out of something that shouldn't be any of our business. It only reinforces that it's a thing that should matter to everyone else, and it's disturbing. We're consistently made to care for things we shouldn't give a damn about. Similar thing with the Slam race actually. But hey, milking the cow is much more important than any sense of sanity.

Federer can buy Switzerland, right?
Haha. Not quite.
But he's made a decent living for himself. I mean his endorsement money is insane. He was in the top 5 of the all time sports endorsed players across all sports. And obviously the highest ever in tennis.

The only reason he can't buy Switzerland is coz they're like mini-Germany, very wealthy.

But he could buy at least 50% of other countries.

Perhaps he could solve wars this way? When two poor countries go to war, Federer buys them and stops bloodshed.

His first step toward winning a Nobel Peace Prize. After that, the slam race will seem utterly meaningless and his fans will stop using Prozac...

And yet you say that his fanbase is the problem.Look at your posts, do you see something wrong ?

They both made each other better.
That's precisely what I meant.

Except that Rafa was more the teacher, RF more the pupil.

Coz Rafa gave Federer a puzzle to solve. 2005. He solved it 12 years later. 2017. (Better late than ever...)

I am not talking about their matchup.Fed raised the bar first, forced Rafa to improve and become successful on all surfaces then he made Federer to improve and adapt in order to stay relevant and keep on having success even late in his career.

Rafa would have improved anyway, he was only 17...

But yeah, of course the competition pushes you.

Although, overall Rafa was much more pushed to improving by Novak who owned him in so many winning streaks...

Novak came in a way to restore the balance, so to speak. His 2 hander couldn't be broken.

Probably a minority here... but I would find this fascinating. Could be president of Rafa's Academy? ;)

Then he could coach Lenny and Leo at Rafas Academy. Okay, too much? :sneaky:
