I’m not sure if Fed gets mental blocks against anyone aside from the top player of the era (first Rafa, then Djok) but I’d be very wary of a repeat of US 2018.

Milkman is a tough guy, very fit and playing at home. With a huge win vs Fed under his belt, his Rafter-esque manner could be a serious problem.

i would be very wary about this millman playing with home crowd support. Fed has to fight not just this mentalist but also time. Fed needs to start well and has to keep his intensity up and shut up the crowd. This will be a tricky game for him

Federer 6-1 6-1 6-1, come on now. He was absolutely terrible at the end of 2018 and Millman still needed 4 close sets to beat him then. Until the last tie break it looked like Federer has chances to win, as bad as he was playing.

Another 40-15 was a culprit
6-3 5-4 40-15 that time.
Though he wouldn't have stood 1% of a chance against nole in the QF whatsoever

Let's face it, Millman has no real weapons. The incredible heat and humidity at the US Open is what beat Federer that day. Barring similar conditions for this match or Federer throwing in a random stinker, I fully expect a rout at Milkman's expense.

I remember the very next match, Djokovic was absolutely gassed in that first set against Millman and they were both sweating buckets. Djokovic went on a drop shot frenzy. Despite the scoreline, even Djokovic was struggling badly against Millman. The heat and humidity was killing him.

Not a chance, but how's the humidity there, ******* doesn't work well with it nowadays

In the USO match Fed couldn't buy a serve, he was hovering below 50% for much of the match and Millman still barely beat him. Roger also used more drop shots in 1 night than he normally does in a year. Between the humidity and the lingering hand issue, he might as well have been a totally different player.

I expect a much more aggressive Federer on return, and one that doesn't need 15 points to close out a service game. First two rounds he's been pounding the corners from both wings off the baseline, which I expect to overwhelm Millman. John plays great defense in that he can run and outwork his opponents. But I don't think his defense is great at absorbing the kind of pace Federer provides when he's on. I don't expect to see much slicing from Fed. He'll look to strike quick and draw the error.

Not just the heat but Fed could have been playing with the wrist injury which showed in the way he served. Fed is serving with pin-point accuracy now. Adv Fed.

2018 US Open match was odd. Federer looked visibly tired.

Despite that, Millman always gave Federer a bit of problems somehow.

Here is the whole scene. Blain is the one who dies, it is everyone else who is blindly shooting at the Predator.

Even though Millman's Aussie, the crowd will be for Federer. Millman already knows that and that's why he requested the match not be played on RLA.
Hope you are right. Aussie crowds have been supporting hometown boys throughout this tournament. They supported Millman vs Hurkacz, Bolt vs Thiem and Thompson v Fognini. They even cheered for errors from the opponents. Call me skeptical but there will be plenty of noise for Millman. Federer has to shut them up early with a break early and carry that momentum throughout the match.

I guess the tournament did not oblige, as Federer vs Millman is scheduled in the night session on RLA after Osaka and Gauff. Nice night session there.
