Unmentioned is that Pete's accomplishment is far greater, he won YE #1 six straight years. Unprecedented dominance outside of Federer's 237 straight weeks ranked #1.

Still hats off to Novak!
Yeah I still rank PETE’s over Novak. Novak needs another YE#1 to surpass him imo

Why is consecutive any better?

Suppose you have four players who based on relative ability are A>B>C>>>>>>D

Are you saying that B finishing #1 over #2 D for six straight years is better than A finishing #1 over #2 C for 6/7? Why on Earth would that matter or even be the conclusion?

Pete's accomplishments are always (repeat: always) smaller than those of any of the Big 3 individually.

ServebotPete. BlastEraPete. OverratedPete.

Yea it's really a great accomplishment. It seems like he should have reached it already but better late than never. Pete's 6 consecutice will at least give him consolation since no one will probably do it again for a long time.

When Novak gets 7 next year, Pete's "consecutive six" will be just a footnote in tennis history...

Bye bye, Pete, ya overrated servebot...

Excellent post. What Pete did was also remarkable.

You mean, winning in a row is more valuable? Like, only two guys are capable of winning 4 GS tournaments in a row, and all the rest are below them?

What's more impressive about Pete's is he did younger than Djokovic and of course six in a row.
Pete got 6 by 27, 28; Djokovic at 33. Pete was retired by then.

One word: dominance.

That's why people always remember Borg/Fed's five straight Wimbledon titles or Fed's five straight USO's.
What Sampras did was super impressive but in 95 he beat Agassi by about a 100 points with Agassi missing last masters and wtf(injury?)
And in 98 he beat Rios by about 300 points

So!? "Almost" counts only in hand grenades and horseshoes. Otherwise Roger would be sitting on 21 slams because he nearly beat Djokovic in 2019 Wimbledon. Nobody gives one s-it if Sampras secured YE #1 by 40,000 points or 2 points.

It gives an * to dominance.
