This whole 40-15 thing is a bit out of control lol....

I've read so many comments saying Federer ruined his legacy with 40-15 o_O sure it looked bad and was a terrible choke, but the fact that he was even in that position at 38 should speak louder than the fact he lost the match. A lot of people giving him the most grief over it are Fed fans at that. Yall better snap out of it

Fed's career is defined by the gajillion things he won, and not the matches he lost.

" I shudder to think about the strong emotions that sport can trigger.
And it's great that I have a small part in this great show too. The sequences on the past are also beautiful, the evolution of tennis is really rapid. I wonder if in 30 years we will smile when watching my tennis" - Roger Federer said.

Slam finals at 38 is remarkable. Wonder if Rafa and Novak will even get to a 40-15 position at that age? And I am a Nadal fan and its possible but you have to appreciate quality in context.

Haven't you people heard of the class action lawsuit intended by thousands of tennis fans against the All England Club and Federer ?

It charges criminal negligence in his tennis obligations and willful infliction of emotional distress : Federer falsely inspired hope of victory then at the last hurdle run away from his duties, wrecking agony and chaos in the mind of millions of followers.

Has anyone forgotten the state of this forum that fateful Sunday ?

So like all of Fed's loss since 2008, it doesn't count because he was old (y)
Thus, the victories don’t count either. You can’t pick and choose like you are making your own pizza. :-D

looks like he has 12 slams since we aren’t counting anything since 2008

It's so asinine dude!! These fans have nothing more to hold on to knowing the fact that Fed's legacy is just far superior to Novak's... Plus, what's more embarrassing?? Losing a title after having 2 championship points, or getting a whole bunch of people sick with Covid, alluding to being a anti-vaxxer... oh and the Coup de Grâce... HITTING a line judge in the THROAT and getting DQ'd from a tournament that you had no business losing. GTFO here and take several seats

That's the thing. After years of losing Novak and at his age, 40-15 was the last thing he needed.

And there's no coming back from this loss. Will retire as Novak's b!tch.
More so Nadals b!tch.
0-3 is CRAPOLA but understandable. I applaud Fed for his efforts at 38.

the way he got spanked around by Nadal in his prime though, that was terrible for his legacy.

From the other tennis forum: take your pick !

"I'm just finding some strength to post something right now. I'm not even sure that a player has suffered such a hurtful loss in tennis history. The legacy, the match points...plus he was the better player in all 5 Fu%%$#% sets!!
I'm absolutely ****ing gutted for Federer and I doubt I'll ever be this sad/angry for a tennis match for the rest of my life. That's right, it's time to come out...I'm actually a HUGE Federer fan since his beginning. I'm not even sure if I would of preferred that Felix (aliassime) won if they had met in the final today...it's that bad
Anyone taking joy in this defeat (Especially the Nadal fans)...please never quote me or speak to me on this forum ever again! "

"The toughest day for me as a Roger fan ever. This one will sting for long, maybe forever.
Roger fought hard, was touching it but came up short due to his own demons. I just hope they'll not hunt him forever and he'll come at peace with what happened today.
Your true fans still do love you, Roger.
I think I need a longer break from tennis, from forum too.
And last but not least: congratulations to Novak Djokovic. I know I've been a hater and it would be easy to hate him today. But no, I won't do it this time. Yes, he is a great champion too. "

"Our only chance is that there are a million multiple universes and we wake up in one of the remaining 999'999 universes where Federer actually won that match.
I'm just spent, totally done. I can not even begin to gasp what just happend. I probably never will. "

"Even the devil himself could've not came up with a better torture for the Fraudtards on the outcome of this match, sweet, sweet stuff "

"Fedfan here.
I must admit this loss is so tragic, crushing that is so laughable.
It's like when kid or even man make some mistake couple times and people just keep warning him. But when he finally repeat same mistake again, people just react with cynic smile.
Also, I have feeling even Djokovic was thinking: Man, WTF is wrong with you?"

"I will never, ever recover from this. Not in a million times. Never. Its not possible.
Congrats to Djokovic, who showed balls of steal today.
Feels like the GOAT debate got decided today. Federer simply will never recover from this.
Those match points.... Its time to go on a drinking spree the world has never seen before. I need to forget. Just forget. "

"Somebody please tell me this was just a 5 h nightmare of my worst fears as a Federer fan and that the final starts in a couple of hours. "

"I don’t think I’ve ever been angrier after a tennis match than I am right now. I’m genuinely gobsmacked at what I just witnessed. Genuinely gobsmacked. That....was ****ing dreadful. The crowd should have booed when it ended. Roger will forever be the GOAT but that...there are just no words to describe how disgusting that was. Match points on his serve and he pissed them away. Three tiebreaks lost. Djokovic, five time Wimbledon champion.....
Just dreadful. "

"Worst choke of Fed's career. Most cruel defeat of Fed and his fans. But this shows that he isn't the GOAT. "

"I AM COMPLETELY OUT OF MY WORDS
NOVAK NOVAK NOVAK
When nobody believes he can pull it out - he WINS
I am speechless
Thank you Novak for joy you gave us - thank you for this EPIC STUFF "

"This is a sad day for tennis and humanity.
Tennis lost today. Mentality won.
Well done to Djokovic but this is the most undeserving defeat for Roger.
Good match tough "

"How am I supposed to recover from this?
I seriously can’t.
Congrats to both players for this gladiator fest, but this was too much for me to take.
I definitely need a break from tennis. It’s not easy to recover from that, will take time. A neutral would have loved this match though. "

"Better player lost. Ridiculous Result "

"Championship points. A chance to beat Raffa and Novak consecutively. A chance to cement the GOAT debate. A chance to equal Martina's singles record.
I like Novak, but he has years ahead. And Roger blew it. After all those years of experience. How does a player recover?
I don't think I can watch a tennis match for a very very long time. "

"Well that was a nightmare.
What a massive choke from Federer when serving for it. Unreal.
Djokovic was a bit better in the tiebreaks, and that won him the match. The match really didn't deserve that kind of ending. "

"Unbelievable. Djokovic is mental GOAT. Will this day be seen as the critical turning point in the GOAT debate? I can hardly believe what has happened here "

"Most horrible loss ever as a fan. I am in disbelief. 40-15, 2 MP. I just cannot believe it, wow. Just. Wow. "

"Disgusting. Why do I have to witness the same **** all over again? Let's lose a GS final from 2 MP's, because that's something Federer hasn't done yet.
It's time to quit watching tennis, I have had enough of my favourite losing the important matches to his main rivals left and right, and winning only once in a decade, which was AO 2017. "

"Not gonna lie, this is hands down the worst sport heartbreak that I ever had. Easily worse than the 2005 Champions League final, or the 2008 Wimbledon final. Roger cannot find a way to learn from this, it's way too late for that, but we, his hardcore fans can, and should. Try to to stay civilized and don't bash the guy, please. It's not how he planned, but it happened. "

"You can defend this all you want but blowing CPs that too from 40-15 and losing 4 straight points from there made sure of that.
Look Federer is the most complete player ever and plays the most beautiful style ever but he isn't the GOAT. The greatest don't choke this bad.
I guess Federer will be one those geniuses whose career ends in tragedy. "

"F- tennis and f- Federer! " :-D

"The most dramatic tennis match EVER.
Ajdeeeeee Nole. What a f*cking fighter, that FH pass to save a MP. Now I think he will won most slam titles from Big 3. So satysfying moment for him and his fans.
Sad for Fed though, he folded in every important moment today. It's probably one of Fed's and his fans worst days ever.
Hopefully he will still play and not retire soon. "

"The greatest. Match. Ever.
I don't know if I'm the only one or not...
I feel sorry for Federer, his wife and family. BUT...
I'm so happy to see *******s receiving a loss like this. Remember your idol had it 40-15 on his serve and LOST. I would lie if I said you all didn't deserve to witness this. "

"Man this stings....But credit where its due, Djokovic is a mental giant and gutted out the win. What a match though...Usurps the one from 2008 in my honest opinion...Not sure how Federer is going to come out of this....He had two match points for god sake and played three awful tie breakers....Anyways congrats to Novak Djokovic and all his fans on another Wimbledon. Hopefully this doesn't shatter Federer and he continues to soldier on. "

"Federer won 14 more points than Djokovic and still lost. That says it all. Just as I predicted - Federer had his chances. Sadly he blew all of them. This match is the epitome of what their rivalry has become. Federer is mental midget when playing Djokovic. He was the better player by far today, except for when it really mattered. I'm still in shock that he managed to lose 4 points in row on his service while serving for the match. Just sad. "

"Damn. The match was low on quality but made up with drama. And what a choker Federer is seriously. Yes Djoker is fighter and mental giant but how come Federer can loose to this guy again and again after having multiple match points?
Till 4 sets Federer was the better player and was even between both in the 5th set.
And of those Fed losing 3 tie breaks is so hard to digest. He was so close and yet he blows all opportunities to win #21 "

"it would be much better if this was a 3-0 loss... why torture us like this?
Too bad Federer has this disgusting mental block vs the serb. Federer was the better player the whole match... bye. "

"I congratulate all Djokovic fans on this forum with all my heart. But I'm done posting here for at least 3 months. This is too mich for me. See you all later. "

"This one will hurt. This one will hunt him and us Fedfans for years to come.
It's hard for me, Fedfan to say this but i think i found new nickname for him:
Roger Chokerer. "

"Well that was tense though the quality was poor. It was like watching the 2008 final in slow motion. The lesser of two evils prevailed, I suppose. The Djoker is the second best I've seen on grass, 5 Wimbledons and beat Federer in 3 finals. Only Pistol Pete is better on grass. The BBC coverage was a complete cringefest as usual and it was like a funeral when Djokovic won, great to see. The Djoker's level is way down on what it used to be and it's crazy that he's won 4 of the last 5 slams whilst being way off his peak. Roger needs to disappear for 6 months again and come back with new blood, I wonder will we see him at Wimbledon again. "

"Federer played remarkably well, his serve was incredible, and stayed in the rallies about as effectively as anyone could have possibly imagined. His BH stayed pretty strong throughout and his use of the BH slice in particular to neutralize rallies on this surface was pretty incredible. Considering the opponent, he couldn't have played much better. Unfortunately for him, he'll be thinking about those two match points for the rest of his career and long after. "

(And the most cringy for the end):

"Beautiful result. I predicted Djokovic would deal with "The Rat" in the final, took a little longer and was more difficult than I expected, but its tough to put down a 38 yo playing like peak Lance Armstrong.

Congrats No1e!
Vamos Rafa!
Let's Go Andy!
Come on Stan!

Eff you Raterer! "

None of that stuff is tennis related though hahahah.

Getting DQ’d for a dink underhand dolly that miraculously hit the line judge is the epitome of the ATP today. So soft.

The 38 year old Federer beating both Nadal and Djokovic at Wimbledon would have been huge for his legacy. He was so close.
This is what he missed out on. Nadalovic back to back in a GS at 38 would have been incredible, no matter what. Would have sealed the deal for me. It would have been the greatest story of his career. He would have towered over his rivals and all weak era talk would have vanished without a trace. He was a point away from sealing his legacy and shutting up a lot of naysayers. But he did not take care of business unfortunately. Just one point away and that's what hurts the most. I was actually pretty satisfied with a Final result before the final began. It was huge for me that Federer beat Nadal after that RG loss. So, I was quite happy. I did not expect Federer to beat Novak. Would have remained happy had Fed lost the final in 3 or 4 sets. But, he had no business losing from 2 MPs on his serve again. It was a choke that altered the very perception of Federer's career. It's the bitter truth we fans have got to live with.
But it's okay. The man has also given us way too many memorable moments for us to complain. I will be an extremely satisfied fan even if he retires tomorrow (Please don't, Roger). But still wish for one last run in Wimbledon for the great man. End it on a high, on the very courts where it all began for him. That would be a sweet hurrah.

It really is crazy man. All that fighting to get to the MPs and then not finish it. Fed was like:

I really don't get it though, with 2 MP's to beat Djokovic and Nadal back to back, you should be going for the hardest ace you can hit and if the ball comes back to NOT be so safe with your groundstrokes.

Federer rushes himself too much on pressure points. Why he couldn't wait for few seconds and concentrate before serving on MPs? Nadal or Djokovic often does it.
