UTR says the ratings are calculated using only ratings from the past 12 months.

"How is it calculated?

For each match, the algorithm calculates a match rating and a match weight for each player. A player’s UTR is the weighted average of up to 30 of their most recent match ratings. Only matches within the last 12 months count toward a player’s UTR."

In the past 12 months Federer has played 2 UTR matches.

One win against Evans who was listed as a 15.22 player and a loss to Nikoloz Basilashvili a 14.60 player
2ndDaniel EvansW7-6 (10-8), 3-6, 7-5
QuarterfinalsNikoloz BasilashviliL6-3, 1-6, 5-7

And RF ends up with a 15.56 rating from this? How is that possible?

who cares

I don't care about how UTR rates Federer in particular. But I do care about the rating system and wonder how it works. It is supposed to work the same for everyone from amateur to pro. I bring up
Federer because it seems to be a case where they are clearly not following the rules they say they will follow. Are they not following the same rules for all the other pros, high school, amateur adults, and college athletes as well?

Of course I may be misunderstanding the rules. So I am also asking because I suspect maybe I am misinterpreting how UTR works and someone can explain.

It's an anomaly as much as 40yo Fedr is, as an active player who has not been playing at all yet he is being projected as the WIM winner for 2021! Delusion and "anomalism".

I am just saying the math isn't adding up. I am really just wondering if I am missing something about how UTR works, or if they are not in fact obviously not rating people like they claim. Maybe it is special rules because of COVID?
