Just disgusted by the way he folded… they don’t make ‘em like they used to and this kid has SO MUCH promise…

When 19 years old Nadal played his first RG he won the title, beating peak Federer in the semifinals. Would have beaten this Djokovic in 3-4 sets, no doubt.Kid is 19 and was playing his first ever slam main draw... Give him a break.
Disgusting by OP.
Djokovic took 6 slams to even make a 4R.When 19 years old Nadal played his first RG he won the title, beating peak Federer in the semifinals. Would have beaten this Djokovic in 3-4 sets, no doubt.
And no, nobody expects Musetti to be the next Nadal. But yes, we can expect from a 19 years old to have the stamina to compete against a 34 years old for more than 2 sets.

Exactly. Only Rafa fans have that right.Djokovic took 6 slams to even make a 4R.
Federer took 4 slams.
Musetti did it his first slam.
I'd shutup about the critisim of a 19 year old making his first ever slam 4R on his 1st attempt. Laughable you even dare criticize such a feat.
He crushed it.
If he doesn't have the stamina when he is 19 then he is never going to have it. So at best case he can achieve somethin in BO3. He is too physically weak for BO5. Pathetic.Djokovic took 6 slams to even make a 4R.

I imagine how would you bash him if he lost 6-1 6-0 6-0 to Nadal, instead of Djokovic.TBH more disappointed by Sinner than Musetti....
Musetti should get a pass since it was his first attempt and did very well considering the lack of experience. He is also fun to watch
Djokovic and Federer didn't have his stamina at 19 to do what Musetti did and took several attempts to do what Musetti did so are you saying you're wrong? If he doesn't have the stamina when he is 19 then he is never going to have it. So at best case he can achieve somethin in BO3. He is too physically weak for BO5. Pathetic.
What are you talking about? Federer at age 19 beat Sampras at Wimbledon in a long 5 set match. He didn't lose 6-1 6-0 6-0 after winning two sets.Djokovic and Federer didn't have his stamina at 19 to do what Musetti did and took several attempts to do what Musetti did so are you saying you're wrong?
19 is not the age of peak endurance. If he doesn't have the stamina when he is 19 then he is never going to have it. So at best case he can achieve somethin in BO3. He is too physically weak for BO5. Pathetic.
Well, this is why Djokovic will keep winning slams until he is like 70 years old. The young players are only good for 2 sets, but can never win 3. Tsitsipas also collapsed in the fifth set last year. Just pathetic. They are only good enough to challenge Djokovic in BO3.I forgive him. Those first two sets were so good.
Musetti didn't lose that scoreline either...What are you talking about? Federer at age 19 beat Sampras at Wimbledon in a long 5 set match. He didn't lose 6-1 6-0 6-0 after winning two sets.

They are not all built like nadal though. Rafa is a one off phenomenonWhen 19 years old Nadal played his first RG he won the title, beating peak Federer in the semifinals. Would have beaten this Djokovic in 3-4 sets, no doubt.

It’s not that he lost, it’s how he lost. After being up 2-0 he completely collapsed, and then retired because he was tired and couldn’t win a point. That’s not only disrespectful to the opponent, it’s disrespectful to the crowd. I don’t care that he lost (I had Joker winning in straights anyway), but when you’re 2 games away from losing and not injured then you finish the match.
Neither are excuses for retiring from a match with no injury just because you don't want to get bageled again.Kid is 19 and was playing his first ever slam main draw... Give him a break.

Yeah cause the big 3 haven't withdrawn or retired from matches they didn't want to play? Federer literally just did it this tournament for goodness sakes.Neither are excuses for retiring from a match with no injury just because you don't want to get bageled again.
Since when do we treat 19 year olds as toddlers?
I just can’t see how that’s possible considering he’s a professional who’s been playing and watching the game his entire life.As I said in another thread, I doubt he even knows the tennis etiquette attached to finishing the last couple games. If a more experienced player did what he did I'd agree with you, but not in Musetti's case. He's young, he'll learn.
Djokovic clearly had stamina problems pre-2011, and I'm definitely not saying that 19 year old Federer would have beaten Novak yesterday, but he absolutely had the stamina at that age to go the distance without ending on a double bagel.Djokovic and Federer didn't have his stamina at 19 to do what Musetti did and took several attempts to do what Musetti did so are you saying you're wrong?
Nothing like some good old fashioned faux indignation.I let Musetti know. He’s disconsolate. Considering retiring since TTW doesn’t respect him anymore. He also said he’d Western Union me all of his money earned from tennis since it’s tainted now. I said it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make accepting the funds.
He lacks the moral clarity that can only be acquired via repeated exposure to TTW.I just can’t see how that’s possible considering he’s a professional who’s been playing and watching the game his entire life.

You could not be more wrong. There is a reason 19 year old men are not dominating or really competing at endurance sports. It is dominated by mid 20's male athletes. Pick triathlons, marathons, grand tours in bike races, CrossFit games. Good luck finding 18 to 20 year olds doing much. There are exceptions, but they only become stronger with time.
You should be the first person to bash him. He was your hope that you will not have to get a tattoo.I didn’t get to watch yesterday but Musetti looks impressive on the mud from what I have seen of him. Let’s not throw him into the Best Buy Bargain Bin just yet.

Me to Rashford after he Raheem Sterlinged that miss vs Villarreal
The reason he retired is LOLworthy though.Kid is 19 and was playing his first ever slam main draw... Give him a break.

He said he had no "serious injury," but cramps can be bad and he clearly wasn't 100%. You don't do what he did for 2 sets and then tank the last 3. If you watch the full interview he's asked if he has an injury and he says "No no, just cramps and low back pain", so he's clearly making the distinction between an injury, and cramps/back pain.
If the guy is still doing this after 2-3 years on tour, after he should've learned some lessons then I'd agree, but not here. And tbh I have some sympathy because if I was him and I didn't know anything about some code of integrity with finishing the match I could see myself doing the same thing at his age. I was stupid/inexperienced at 19 too, and I think 95% of the people here were the same so it's all a bit rich to me.
I love to hate the Twilight movies, but I have to concede, everything about that character was perfect.
