The starting block is green on one side and purple on the other...wonder why? :)

REVEIW:
The PK clamp is every bit as good as the GSS clamp. It doesn't require more force to open and holds as well. I like it as much as the GSS clamp because the head is manageable and the clamp is easy to position. I think I've found a great substitute for those of you looking for a starting clamp as good as the old GSS clamp. I know it has been my favorite forever.

The starting block is well made and works great as well. I like the look and feel. @Richard Parnell has done a great job, as one would expect from the head a stringer at Wimbledon, with these tools. This isn't my first purchase from him and won't be my last. Shipping was same day and from Spain it didn't take too terribly long to get here.

back on topic gents ... just placed an order for the PK clamp and a couple of blocks. How long did it take to ship to you Rabbit ?

What’s the difference in function btw the Parnell block and pad? It looks like the block would provide more space between the frame and starting clamp, but when would you use one vs the other?

@Stefanm the Block is to move the contact point of the clamp with the string, so you would use it if you are using the Yusuki starting method or freeing up a clamp on an ATW pattern. Some people use it all the time instead of the pad.
The pad obviously is that no tool touches the frame or bumper.
I use the Pad on every racket, so that the stating clamp never touches the frame and I use the Block less, but I have always had a starting block in my tool kit for when it is needed.

This is a useful thing that you don't really need.
When I see the racquets that flutter in at the door.
Shabby scratched, dusty and mostly with bumbers that would be to exchange.
With new racquets it would be an option.
When it comes to function, any craft corner in a kindergarten can make something like this.
Of course, a nice (gold) logo on the pad along with marketing gives the user that special feeling of being a superstringer.

If every kindergarten could make a leather hand made stitched pad that would be great :oops: .

The Pads are being used currently at RG, there will be stringers at Wimbledon who will use them in 2 weeks time. US Open, yes, they have been used there for the last 10 years and yes they were also used at OZ Open for the last years also. So, yes super stringers do use them ;)
Does it make someone think they are a superstringer? No it just shows that the stringer has pride in his tools and tries to have a professional outlook. Will a piece of grip do the same thing, yes of course.

Ordered 18MAY21, arrived 3JUN21. It was pretty quick getting to the US then it seemed to slow down, thank you USPS. And may I add that you won't be disappointed in the starting clamp; as stated it is great.

I personally haven’t seen damage caused by starting clamp up against the bumper guard. Then again, I haven’t really been looking for it. :unsure: I could easily see though, how a starting clamp could ding up the frame if it was butted up against somewhere else - where the bumper guard doesn’t protect it. The starting clamp is very tempting. My wife is going to kill me.

I never got the hang of drinking coffee. I drink tea instead. My current choice is Scottish breakfast tea. I like it but I don't know that a Continental would approve. :)

Saw him a couple years ago at Red Rocks, opened for Jason Isbell. He was actually WAY better than i thought he would be, great band.
