Giannis and Kawhi both out. When's the last time we had a finals without a superstar?

Trae Young is a superstar, Booker is a star and CP3 is a former superstar that most people know. I’d rather watch that then Brooklyn’s super team, Clippers, or Lebron in another finals.

The reluctant superstar.

With Capela and Ayton playing major roles, this finals could restore the value of the big man, with big paydays for future rebound-hogging rim stoppers.

Last two times they made it, Duncan and Kobe and Shaq were on the other side. Unless you mean 1990, but back then there was still Isiah and Drexler. Would you consider them superstars at the time? That's probably the closest we've had, but it ultimately comes down to how you define superstar.

Only focused on the 2004 Pistons roster. Never gave the Fakers a second thought!

Eh, I guess we have different definitions. I agree though, this is far better than seeing superteams every year.

Noticed Trae & Devin did not make any All NBA team this year. No Hawk earned any accolade

Devin didn’t deserve an all nba bid but Young should’ve gotten it over Irving. A poor first half by the hawks didn’t help his cause either. He’s been an absolute stud during these playoffs. I’m still mad he beat my knicks but I can’t deny that he’s a stone cold killer. The garden didn’t phase him one but then he took out the one seed. If he takes down the two time mvp I’ll be rooting hard for him to finish the job in the finals. He’s making all the clowns who thought the doncic-young trade was terrible for the hawks eat crow and I’m loving it.

The Suns remind of those 2004 Pistons… complementary very good but not superstar players meshing together and playing their roles well.
That was deliberate on the Pistons part. After Grant Hill & Jerry Stackhouse debacles.

ps Larry Brown may have had his hand in this decision too

I'd just like to say Kawhi should've stayed in Toronto, the F'n knob.

Yup he had a great supporting cast around him (siakam fvw Lowry og) but decided to chase better weather and a super team with pg. could’ve had a pretty damn good 3-5 year run had he resigned. There’s rumors that the Knicks want to trade for lillard and then sign kawhai this offseason I really hope they don’t. Would be a terrible move for the franchise.

Kawhi’s legacy probably would have been strengthened had he stayed in Canada. Now he’s known as the poster boy for load management.

If Kawhi wins another title I won't be crying myself to sleep over it, don't get me wrong, but I will be happiest if he never wins another one, and I will take pleasure out of any time his team gets eliminated. Maybe that's petty and maybe this is a 2 year old rant, but I don't care. I never agreed with his decision to leave in the first place, but many other Canadians (sports radio hosts etc.... included) besides myself were forgiving about it. Too forgiving IMO. They were going with the old line "he just won us (Toronto/Canada) a title, he can do what he wants blah blah blah," but it p.issed me off because it was such a typically Canadian thing to say. To be forgiving and understanding it made me sick.

The guy left a perfect situation other than the fact that he had stomach playing in Toronto/Canada and a bit of snow and generally cold weather in the winter which he obviously couldn't do. Boo hoo.

He left the team that rehabilitated his body and his career that he just won a title with. He had a great supporting cast as mentioned above, as good as any in the league especially at the time, and he was playing in the weaker conference IMO. I would've had absolutely no problem with him leaving after a Conference Finals loss or something similar either, but to leave after winning a title is just disrespectful. At least try to repeat.

I wish I was wrong at the time, but I always knew he would leave because he's just another superstar basketball player born in the U.S. that doesn't want to play here. We've had VC and Lowry and Bosh sure, but Lowry is not a true superstar in the way Kawhi is, and VC and Bosh never had good enough teams around them. Maybe VC did that one year he clanked the rim against the 76'ers, but they would've lost to the Lakers back then anyway. And I'll say this about Carter. His exit was messy, but at least he was here for 6-7 years.

Kawhi had every reason to stay and one reason to leave and he chose the easy way out, sunshine and rainbows, and after dragging his decision out for months at that. So yes I will be exceedingly happy every time a Kawhi led team chokes it in the playoffs from now on. Sue me.

Suns finally brushed off LAC last night, and it was great to see Beverly get ejected. Also love his last Twitter post was some quasi religious remark and people are lighting him up now. The double D bag move for sure.

Anyway, on to who moves forward, I like the Suns chances to take it all. Need to see how they handle the pressure there though.

What a game for Brook Lopez. For his height and weight he is incredibly coordinated and nimble. Always enjoyed watching him play from his Stanford days to now.

Lol he did repeat with Clips this year, no NBA finals again.
Report: Kawhi Leonard told Raptors he didn’t think they were good enough to repeat

It shows that he did not have much respect for Nurse and his teammates and thought he could win anywhere with another superstar in the team.

I'm on vacation and I was just able to watch Suns Clips match. What a performance from CP. 41 points and ZERO turnovers? Unreal.
Lol Beverley what a clown, trying to get CP and some Suns players not be able to play in the next match but only made himself look like a fool. Ban this guy.
Eastern final is getting interesting even more.

I'm surprised Trae is still doubtful for game six with his bone bruise. Seems he can kinda play but isn't sure he'd be a net positive on the floor for the team.

If Milwaukee wins it all, where will that block rank among all-time defensive plays?

Ask Reggie!
That's one of the greatest for sure. Other candidates would be LeBron's block in the 2016 Finals, Hakeem's block in the 1994 Finals, Jordan's steal in the 1998 Finals, Bird's steal in the 1987 ECF, and "Havlicek stole the ball". I don't know where Giannis' block ranks specifically, but it'll be up there on that pantheon.

Regardless, it's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen. Should have seen my reaction when watching live - I could barely believe what I saw.

Giannis Beast.

Huge performance from Holiday: 27 points, 13 dimes, and that crucial steal at the end to seal it. Really underestimated this Bucks team. Thought it would be a straightforward series for Phoenix after the first two games but they've really stepped up. Just need one more at home to close it out.

I know Giannis plays extremely hard, but his general effort now that it's the NBA Finals has just been extraordinary. His desire is enormous.

And that was one hell of a game 5. One hell of a game.

(Oh and I don't think Space Jam 2 is nearly as bad as almost everybody else thinks it is. It gave plenty of laughs and it was enjoyable.)

Giannis absolutely frikkin beasted in this NBA ginals. I'm not sure I've ever seen a player play harder in a finals than he has in this one. And what a night to become the free-throw GOD.
