A much delayed leg in the Sunshine Double opens up with qualifying matches today. Main draw will be made later today. Defending champion (2019) Dominic Thiem is still sidelined. #1 Novak Djokovic has decided to skip the next to last M1K. In fact, no previous champion is entered.

Poll represents the top 9 seeds that are on the entry list.

Discuss or disgust.

I literally have no idea who's winning this one. Truly wide open, although likely to come from a limited pool of maybe eight players.

Hard to say really.

Don't think high bouncing slow HC is Medvedev's surface. So don't think he's gonna win.

Zverev could win, but he has other issues to deal with now personally.

Tsitsi is Tsitsi. Can lose to a lesser player.

Rublev can't be trusted in tournaments bigger than 500's.

FAA can't be trusted in finals, period.

Ruud can do well on this high bouncing slow HC but winning the whole thing would be a shock.

It's anyone's game really. A free for all.

Rublev can’t be trusted, at all. He hasn’t won since Rotterdam.

Anybody willing to guess how conditions in the fall will be affecting court speed, bounce? I know it can be downright chilly at night at this time of the year.

Obviously depends on draw but my blind vote goes to Zverev. Feel he's still on a roll with hard courts and his results are hard to ignore:

5 Set Loss USO SF
Won Cincy
Won Olympics
5 Set Loss WMB R16

And he recently beat Isner albeit the exhibition Laver Cup in singles play which I didn't watch but the highlights show he's at least staying fit and active. That should count for something. Medvedev of course could get the YE if he wins IW as that puts a lot more pressure on Novak in the Vienna-Paris-WTF last lap but I think he plays lose and loses to somebody wanting it more on a given day.

O.K., so most likely 6 p.m. EST. Curious to see who gets who in each side of the draw. I have the feeling it will be Medvedev and Rublev on one side and Tsitsipas and Zverev on the other. There will be very strong opponents in this tournament to challenge the top four seeds.

Does anyone know if Tennis Channel in the U.S. will be showing the entire tournament?

Well, I'm not ACTUALLY going to vote for Murray to win. :p

But murygoat should always be a poal option. ;)
The next pole when Joe Kovic will be wide open to special “guests” because he will be listed and then it will list “the field.”

MuryGOAT winning 7 matches? LOL. Titanium hips are not made for that load.

I just visited IW site via a Google search starting with Indian Wells. The phone popped up IW. Current weather is 33 C but will drop to 17 C overnight.

Stringing room will be busy with such divergence.

Would be epic though. Murygoat and Fed to sweep the slams next year on metal hip and busted knee. :D;)

Sorry, as for the actual tournament - I think it's wide open. Med and Zed probably the favourites but a lot of players are looking to make their mark.

If Alcaraz makes it through the first two rounds he would play Zverev in the third round (his second round match would be either Murray or Mannarino)... I want Alcaraz to make a deep run but IDK how fully recovered he is from his injuries....

In the qualies Dr Ivo storms through in a 9-7 3rd set breaker over the quite obnoxious Schnur. Jason Jung retires down 2-5 in the 3rd. Ernests up later.

I just looked at the draw that is currently up on their website - is it that the top 30 all get "byes" and move directly to the second round? Meaning they only have to play six rounds? Because all the top 30 are listed as having "byes" in the first round. For example, Carlos Alcaraz's first match will be the winner of the Murray vs Mannarino match. Am I understanding the draw correctly??

Top 32 in a 96-man draw all receive 1R byes. Same as it ever was at both IW and Miami.

Soft landing draw for Holger Rune:

1R: Qualifier tbd

2R: #13 Christian Garin (not a HC elite)

3R: Whoever beats Alex de Minaur

R16 is doable, before running into Citypass

Sinner vs Berry is quite possibly happening in 4R. Jannik will play Sock/Millman winner and then possibly Isner. Berry gets Kudla or a qualifier, then most probably another American Fritz or Nakashima.

Medvedev has a way easier draw than Zverev (or Tsitsipas). I think he can reach the final quite easily....

I highly doubt anyone can beat him in section one, but there are several potential landmines in section two (ie potential QF opponents). In theory, though, he should have a fairly routine pathway to the F.

Unlike the women's draw, the men's has a fairly strong favourite. It's Meddy's to lose. I give him a 50:50 chance.

The only player I have never heard of is J.J. Wolf???

A few interesting first round matchups: McDonald vs Duckworth; Paire vs Tiafoe; Sock vs Millman; Fucsovics vs Mager; Murray vs Mannarino; Ramos Vinolas vs Musetti.

Thanks Octobrina10 for giving us the whole entire draw on here! I really appreciate it!

It does look like Medvedev has the easiest draw of the top four???

Medvedev has in his QF draw Hurkacz, Shapovalov, Dimitrov, Karatsev, Korda, Opelka, and Krajinovic.

Tsitsipas has in his QF draw Auger-Aliassime, Khachanov, Carreno Busta, Garin, Fognini, Basilashvili, and Garin.

Zverev has in his QF draw Berrettini, Alcaraz, Sinner, Isner, Fritz, Soengo, and Monfils.

Rublev has in his QF draw Ruud, Schwartzman, Harris, Norrie, Lavojic, Bautista Agut and Evans.

Looking to see who the hot players outside of the top 32 seeds are in the tournament...

I can't believe you don't know whomst The Mullet™ is. He's legit good.
I have never seen him play ever. If they don't broadcast his matches there is no way for me to know who he is. I know every single other player other than a few of the qualifiers.

Looks like Rublev has the easiest quarter, despite Ruud.

In the top half of the draw some players outside of the top 32 that have been playing well lately: Duckworth, Giron, Kwon and I would also look out for McDonald.

In the bottom half of the draw some players outside of the top 32 that have been playing well lately: Nakashima, Millman, Fucsovics, Brooksby, Musetti, Ramos Vinolas, Ruusuvuori, and Martinez.

What a joke of a quarter…
Why joke? Harris, Norie, Ruud, Evans all had decent runs recently. And Schwartzman can be a challenge on a good day. I don't think Rublev has an extra easy job. I think Medvedev has an easier draw in his quarter. Shapo is no threat. Hurkacz maybe.

Lloyd Harris is legitimately the favorite from that quarter, lol. Depends on the IW court speed I guess.

Rubles got worked out by Norrie, Tiafoe, Isner, and Nishikori this HC summer. Ruud is not bad but I still can’t really take him seriously on HC. The rest are experienced but have large power or serve deficiencies that make them little threat.

Although that was just my initial reaction: the Tsitsipas quarter has Auger Aliassime, Busta, and nothing else so is pretty weak.

Hurkacz seems to cause large issues for Meddy so I actually think that’s a tough draw for him.

I’m not sure where you are and what broadcast options existed there for USO’20 3R play:
