Why does Murray dislike many of the younger guys?

I saw the match today against Zverev and there was clearly lots of tension between them. Shouting during the match. Murray throwing his racquet down at the end right in front of Zverev. The handshake between them didn't look good. It was quick and tense and looked like neither of them liked each other.

Against Tsitsipas, the handshake was equally bad. Murray made his feelings known about Tsitsipas quite clearly, during the match, after the match and on social media. I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think he's said nice things about Medvedev either.

What is it about the younger guys that aggravates Murray so much?

That's it! Murray was unlucky enough to play at the same time of Fedalovic and it'll wind up making him a footnote more than a great player unfortunately for him! :unsure:

Tsitsipas - he was angry at him because of toilet breaks
Zverev - Murray almost straightly said that he believes the abuse accusations against Zverev. No wonder the relationship is bitter.
Murray was always speaking what he feels. Some will hate him, some will love him for that. I like him for that. He’s not hiding behind a PR-created persona.

Murray’s fighting spirit remains and he battled hard to the end, forcing a tie-break in the second set after Zverev had the chance to serve out the match at 6-5. When Zverev eventually did seal victory on the first of two match points, Murray was so furious with himself that he threw his racket to the ground and screamed in anger.

Perhaps there was an extra element of frustration because of the edge between the pair. Murray had admitted before this so-called grudge match that they “don’t really chat a whole lot” after he repeatedly called for an investigation by ATP tour chiefs into the domestic violence allegations that Zverev presently faces — and vehemently denies — and there was little warmth in the brief handshake across the net afterwards.

“I don’t think I played well today,” Murray said. “There’s a lot of mistakes. There was some good stuff in there, but it was mixed in with the bad. There was no sort of consistency I don’t think. My average level was just not really there today. It was either good or bad. I wouldn’t put that down as playing really well.

“The positive for me to take from it is I obviously had opportunities again. I didn’t feel like I played a great match and still had chances, so that’s positive. I’m disappointed because I obviously want to be winning these matches. I haven’t in the last few months. Something needs to change.”

Unless Murray enters the top-100 before the end of the season, he will require a main draw wild card for January’s Australian Open to avoid the qualifying event. As he is fully vaccinated, he will escape the more severe quarantine restrictions which are likely to be in place for those who are unvaccinated. It is understood that about 40 per cent of players on the ATP tour are still to receive a first dose.

Murray and his team are ungracious and ungrateful by nature. One of his assistants went to coach another player (I forgot who it was), Murray and his team were angry at him, and started treating him like an enemy.

That was very unbecoming. In every sport, if an assistant is promoted to coach another team, he's usually sent off with a fond farewell. Look what happens to Uncle Toni. He's the coach of FAA, but still very welcome in Rafa's circle.

His peak is pretty much better than all of them but most of them are gonna have a better career than him because they got lucky and were born in a non big-3 era. Meddy will become no.1 in less than a year which means he’s only got two more slams to go to match Andy’s legacy.

I’m almost convinced he similarly went nuts against Stan when playing him. Undeniably a better player but the slam count didn’t show it, so it frustrated him.

Not sure of what you mean OP, Murray just praised Alcaraz and said he was a brilliant player, they had a warm handshake at the end of their match. I mean Tsitsipas and Zverev are not exactly that likable, lets be honest here, they are brilliant tennis players, but very immature for their age and frankly act like jerks most the time

Are you referring to Dani Vallverdu in your first paragraph? If so, here’s an interesting tidbit to consider that time heals all wounds:

The recent San Diego Open was put together with great diligence by “hired gun” Dani V serving as TD. Guess who Dani awarded a WC to? Yeah, the supposed bush league behavioral sociopath Andy Murray. Pretty convincing proof they didn’t stay angry at each other for long after Dani landed on his feet as Berdych’s new coach.

There are exceptions. The NextGen fair dinkum crew include Berry, Ruud, Hurkacz, Sinner, AdM (if he loses the excessive fist pumps), Alcaraz (the grunts on mute), Opelka (funniest man on tour these days!). I know I’m leaving out a few but you can get the drift from my list that NextGen is not a monolith of whiners, cheaters and misogynists.

This news kids are great players but really they have no respect for anyone. and are arrogant. Only a few of them are actually nice guys!

Is it maybe coincidence that tsitsipas, zverev and Medvedev are especially obnoxious guys of the new generation?

Don't think Murray has an issue with FAA, sinner or alcatraz as they are polite young men. There are old obnoxious guys and young ones, it's not totally related to the generation

Murray probably just tired of gettin' his ass handed to him by the younger generation...hell, I would be too. Is he still a great player, sure he is, but it might not be a bad idea for future employment sake to see how well your coaching or commentating skills are...no matter who you are or what you do, the inevitable never fails to come knocking.

Andy's legacy goes far beyond just having 3 slams.

Medvedev will have to become a 6+ ATG to get into Andy's class.
