Sam Querrey is the top seed in the Vancouver, BC Challenger this week, and guess who his opponent is? Donald Young. The two men heralded as the future will play their second professional match against each other. They have quite a history playing junior events, but have only faced each other once in ITF/ATP matches.

So, who wins?

why is querry playing a challenger? He can reach the semi of legg mason if he wanted.

As much as I like Donald , but I am also a realistic person, so I will go with Querrey in 3 sets. I hoping I am wrong but I have a feeling about this one..

Querrey in two without much difficulty. Young, despite his Wimbledon win, is not quite there yet and Querrey's confidence is sky high after beating Blake without having faced ONE break point.

I personally think Querrey will spank Young good. I like both players, but Querrey is just more advanced, and in the form he is in now Young should have nothing to hurt him with.

If they played at ATP level right now Querrey would win in straights. Since it´s a challenger and Querrey comes from being a semifinalist in Indianapolis and has bigger events to play in the upcoming weeks I´m not sure if he will give the best of him in this event.
Querrey is an ATP level player,Young is still a challengers player.

Straight sets for Querrey.

I agree, Sam will Win 6-2, 6-3 blow out and will not face a single break point. People does not realize what a huge great groundstrokes Querry has, he was blowing away guys ranked outside of 100 from the baseline. same will happen to young.

As much as I hope Young would start stepping up, I just can't see Querrey not mowing him over...especially with the high he's been on lately. Sammy in a quick 2-sets.

Querry can overpower Young, but Young can put Querry in court positions that can expose Querrys's movement...they are both better since the last time they played, but for the sake of Donald it would be a big win.

Though in the past Young has pushed Querry.

Umm, I've read this statement a few times and it makes absolutely no sense to me. So a player doesn't play at his best if it's not an ATP tournament?

I think Querrey in straight, but how old is Sam compared to Donald? I'm surprised they met a lot in juniors. I laughed when I read that because I can't imagine big Sam up against little Donald lol.

I guess it depends of the player but I find some logic on that. He is starting a career as a pro and this is the stage of the year where he can get more points by playing on american hardcourts. He just made the SF in Indianap. and will probably play 2 masters series and a Slam this month so why burn himself playing a challenger?

Querrey is only 1 year older than Young, Youngn though was playing up in age brackets seeing as how he won the Zoo at 16.

Circumstances dictate that he does not dog it. He had a miserable spring, losing in the first round six straight times. Now that he's found some momentum, my guess is he wants to keep it.

Considering Querrey didn't blow away Young when they played last fall-76,75(when Young was #579 & Querrey was 134)
I doubt that will happen this time, Young has improved more than Querrey has in that time. Young has no fear of Querrey, they played so many times in the juniors, & Querrey respects Young.

also querrey is only ranked 80, not sure why it would surprise anyone he's playing a challenger, that's a common ranking for players in challengers.

he can't count on direct draw into many tour events with that ranking.

Querrey is two years older than DY. And dont forget he lost to some English guy ranked in the 1000s in a grass court challenger this year, big serve and all, so anything can happen.

(1) Querrey d. Young 6-4, 6-4

Zack Fleishman is the only recognizable name left in the draw, as Gimelstob, Kuznetsov, Udomchoke and Young all made first-round exits.

Ummm??? Sam Querrey is 'recognizable'. At least to some of us.

It makes sense now why Querry is playing this, it is a $150,000 prize money, more money than most other challengers, and the field is littered with guys that Querry has blown away in the past. This is practically a Gimme win for Querry. So why not pick up some cool Cash and pick up more points in prep for US open. and Donald did better than i thought agains Querry, 6-4, 6-4, not bad, not bad at all.;)

Solid win by Querrey. To bad about all the first round exsits. Good luck to Zack and Sam. BTW, is Zack in Sam's portion of the draw?

If Querrey is playing well and playing like the way he was vs. James Blake, than he'll have no problem with Donald. Serving big will cover him. I think that Sam would win in two tight sets.

well all you said is Fleishman, not Querrey, so give the guy a break.

speaking of Fleishmann, he is horrendous. How did he beat FERNANDO GONZALEZ last week. That might be worse than Gaston losing 0 and 2 to Darcis and Chela losing twice to Roitman.
