I have this awesome stuff called nuun. You've probably not heard of them, but they're little electrolyte tablets. They're cheaper than gatorade, they taste better imo, and I don't have to support huge corporations! lol. They come in 3 flavors: lemon-lime, citrus, and tri-berry. Yall should definitely give them a try.

Umm I drink plain tap water...?

I'm suprised, but not overly so, that the world has come to a stage where 'water' is merely considered an 'other' in a poll about what people should drink to play sport.

To the OP: two threads have recently addressed similar issues. If your interest in is more than the poll, I'd think these two threads will answer most of your questions. There are some people in them who know what they're talking about, and others that do not - hopefully it's somewhat obvious who is who!

How much water should you drink in a day?

i like powerade blue. i think it's called berry something but it tastes nothing like berries.

Actually, me too. After years of avoiding it because of that scary color I tried it the other day and it's good. Though, I did get disgusted looks from my tennis bunch (who all drink the yellow one). :)
Btw. I think it tastes like E..something :)

Still, water is my 1st choice.

Water. Aren't the "sports" drinks just kind of glorified kool aid? I usually drink one aafter I'm done for sugar and salts but come on?? How much high fructose corn syrup do you need?

zym tablets (electrolyte tablets with very little sugar) - they were developed for bike racers

and isostar if I can get my hands on it

I get stomach cramps if I drink too much sugar

I would say most of the time i drink Gatorade and plain water, but I would drink any of those if they were for free...I have been liking the berry packages of propel that you can put in an ordinary water bottle! DELICIOUS but use the whole pack or it just taste watered down!

During the day I just drink plain water. Right before and during a match I will drink Gatorade to help with electrolyte loss since I sweat a lot. After a match I will drink Gatorade followed by lots of water.

Pretty simple.

Normal water. H20. The goods. Although if I got REALLY serious I would consider those electrolyte drinks that the pros sometimes drink- like Cytomax.

Bought bulk gatorade powder that I mix at around 60% concentration along with water.

I drink on average 130oz of (usually cold) water a day, sometimes more and sometimes a little less (therefore the average).

p.s. @ whitesox: entourage pwns!

When I head to the courts, I hardly if ever bring water, and I'm not sure why that is. The drinking fountain is good enough for me I guess, though on those really extreme days, I feel this dire desire to get Gatorade and INHALE IT.

It was pointed out that vitamins are not absorbed well in the absence of food, and it seems to make sense to me.

Could anyone point me to an official study on that in case someone ever asks me to prove it?
