Majoring at minors meme... Backfired so badly...

Do you remember this meme that was so popular on TTW?
AngieB was the loudest poster, but many, particularly Federer fans, were involved.

Let's see what happened.

Minor tournaments (250 or 500) won:
Djokovic 27/96 28%
Nadal 33/92 36%
Federer 49/103 47%

In one moment, Novak was 8/8 in slam finals, but since then it is 16/4. Not too bad, no?
So Angie and others...

I believe this is one of the worst aged memes on this forum :D

I guess this thread put that AngieB poster in her place! Is this poster still here to feel it?

Regarding the minor tournaments, Federer won 10 titles at Basel. Surely he's going to play his home tournament. He also won 10 titles at Halle. I suspect he would've played the grass Masters if there were one.

good call and just those two equate to 37 minor tournaments he had to play

A pretty big propaganda machine in tennis, I wonder when this whole big titles total and putting in Masters in the same tier as Majors, started? Still remember when Rafa didn't even know how many he had won at one stage.

And yeah, Angie B was annoying lol

First campaign inc big 3 that I can recall

Person who obsessively aligns his bottles, won't cross lines on warm up or whatever , has few other tics, didn't even know how many he had won . Yeah right he doesn't care how much he has won:laughing:

Djokovic needed Boris Becker as coach to get over "majoring in minors" :)

Oh, and Nadal going into a slump for a couple of years.

See, this is what we were discussing before. Novak didn’t need nadal to go into any slump other than RG. Outside of RG once Novak was good enough to be a threat everywhere Nadal only stopped him once.

if we think of the “majoring in minors’ era as 2012-2014, when Novak only won a slam per year, Nadal stopped him in RG obviously. But of the other 9 slams played in that period Novak won 3. Of the remaining 6 Nadal beat him only once. The players that stopped Novak in that period were Federer, Murray (twice). Wawrinka, and Nishikori.

it’s a myth that Novak was being stopped by Nadal and Fed. He had other problems

Yeah, but Roger made up for it by being Roger Federer.

No matter how the records change, he’s always got that going for him.

A temp ban is a far different level of severity compared to a permaban though.
It would be permanent ban but other posters helped him to get unbanned (I was among them), which is good and rightful. Some other haden't that luxury, that's all I'm saying. Off course, in most cases bans are rightful, and also after ban person can return with changed attitude, which is ok too, imo...

soo fed still has a record :)
(until Ruud breaks it)
That's exactly the record from the meme: "Majoring at minors", or, to translate, he is good mostly at not important
tournaments, and he is failing at important ones (minoring at majors).

So, you don't want to underline this Federer "success" of... At least not on TTW ;)

Novak was not stopped much by Nadal out of clay. He did lose his ranking to Nadal in 2013. But it was mostly clay where Novak lost a lot. He still has 3 RG titles so in the end Nadal did nothing.

Nadal has 2 Wimbledons and 1 Australian open.

Wow, this brings back a few memories.
Can anyone here pinpoint the moment AngieB was banned or left the forum?
I remember her antics quite well, but she seems to have disappeared at a time when I was too busy to visit the forum, and I never quite understood how that runaway train finally derailed and came to a halt. Was it somewhere around 2015?
