Sinner is not Roger.
I don't know why you think Sinner is the new Roger.
Roger was playing an empty field till 2008 on hc. Sinner isn't.
Alcaraz has won USOpen, IW Miami, held Championship pt on Cincinnati courts as well.
Rune is also going to be very strong by end of next year. He won Paris in 2022.
Ok Sinner figured out Medvedev but he will still contend with Meddy Zverev. They are not going away.

I think Sinner has very little chance to get even close to Roger in 20s. Roger won 16 by 28. Sinner is 22 already. Roger was not 22 by the time he won Wimbledon.
Roger won 15 slams between age 22 to 28. He had pretty nice field to dominate.

Remember what Nole told after Rune match. He could beat Sinner.
We also saw Sinner vs Rune in ATP finals. It went to third set as well.
I know some people are scared that SInner will have Djokovic like success and anyone else will be hyped right now like Murray was in 2009/10 and we would be made into a fool.
I don't know if Sinner right now is more impressive than Novak in 2008 or not.

Novak won 2 masters, slam, another slam semis and atp finals in age 21 season.
Sinner won nothing in age 21 season. Even at age 22, Sinner has not made a hc slam sf. Not won atp finals. 1 masters title.

Djokovic won 8 hard court slams by age 28. Federer won 8 hard court slams by age 28.

Sinner will now have to win 8 of the next 12 hard court slams to match them. But he still has Djokovic playing at high level. There is zero chance of that happening. Will he win 4 of them? I am not sure. Still too far to go and too much to prove.

Novak and Roger won Wimbledon as well. Federer won 6 Wimbledons by age 28, Nole won 3. Sinner will have to at least match Novak to be in some contention. So 3 out of next 6. This is a big unknown. His game will suit grass but he has long way to go to be number 1 favorite.

Now come to his fitness. Everyone put Djokovic through a ringer for retiring mid match. But really?
At the same age as Sinner is now, Djokovic had retired from 6 matches.
Sinner by now has retired from 6 matches plus he has withdrawn from 4. That's way more than Djokovic. Is this guy really fit enough to win BO5 at the rate of Federer? Federer had 1 thing better than Djokovic early on, the fitness. Sinner is probably even worse than Djokovic. We will see what he will do in hot Australian weather in few days.

Hopefully we don't expect the youngster to match all-time greats with 28. That is a most unlikely outcome.

Sinner's body developed far slower than Nadal or Alcaraz and considerably so than Federer or Djokovic. The boy was growing considerably taller well after he became officially an adult. His easy power helped his early rise greatly but the frozen ranking, bad draws an a difficult start in 22 forced him lower than the rankings than Elo rightly predicted.

Now he has improved and is still improving with no end in sight, also because he has witnessed what Nole could do. We will see, we will see...

I hope he wins RG and gives Nole the gold. Last chance for Djokovic.
No, let your idol not have all the possible trophies in his huge cabinet.
It will be the farewell of the Spanish bull and the Olympic gold will be his great workhorse.

Yes. But now his body is developed and Rune definitely is still developing.

Go for it Carlos!!!! Plus, you already know how to win a slam or 2 - more would be great! Whilst you're at it, a Masters 1000 or 2 plus some 500/250 ones would not be unwelcome.

Obvious, as I predicted. Jannik and Novak would prefer it too.
Yep. And most likely, much of the rest of the field. The Olympics gold medal seems to be something of the Holy Grail for many players, and it will be interesting to see how the contest pans out.

Whilst writing, please be upstanding and take your (real and imaginary!) hats off to the men's tennis Maestro of the Olympics, Andy Murray! As far as I can tell, the only man to have won 2 singles gold medals and who did it back to back, effectively defending the title, 2012 / 2016. Top drawer stuff, from the diamond geezer.

Sinner will make AO F if on the opposite half to Novak. Will push Novak to five if they play in the semi.

Carlos just helped me quantify why MuryGOAT is the goat. Olympic gold >slam title. And since the Olympics happen once every 16 slam events, then 1 Olympic gold> 16 slam titles.

MuryGOAT= 2 Olympic gold medals > 32 slam titles.

Forget that gold buddy. No one dare look for that OG. That has Rafa's name written on it all over

I see Carlos is prepared to go slamless next year. Perhaps the Djokovic experience for a full year already took a bit of his soul.
Sort of sounds like he's anticipating that..or he thinks he's playing mind games against Djokovic in the hope Djokovic underestimates him in the event they meet at the majors, then Alcaraz would catch him off-guard with an in-form game. Alcaraz does not give the impression of a strategist, so perhaps he is seeing a major-less 2024, and trying to hype up the chance of a gold medal.

I guess we will see once draw comes out. But Alcaraz is favored to make the final if faced sinner.
sinner is stronger on the Melbourne surface and hard courts in general. Sinner wins in four for me if they play. Five if Sinner draws it out, three if it’s played indoors but either way Sinner makes the finals

When did this happen? Best of 5 hardcourts, I'm not taking Sinner over Medvedev

You think? It's really hard to see anyone but Novak winning but I am secretly hopeful in the young guys this time around.
Im hopeful in the young guys for next year at all majors. I think Alcaraz and Sinner will clean up, but for Alcaraz the AO conditions dont suit his game imo so it will be tough for him. A Sinner vs Alcaraz AO final would be great though. The sooner they start playing each other in major finals the better off the sport will be.

Roger did that at almost 22 years as well, Roger had 16 slams by age 28, let’s see if Carlos can do that (highly doubt it)

If you had watched young early 20s Roger live then you would never be making such absurd comparisons, but as per your profile it seems you are born in 1999, so I will forgive you. During Roger's early years he too was hyped a little bit but not to the degree in which SInner is today.... would be fun to see where all this ends up.
