The 880ti has the most power of the 3...by far. It is also the least durable.
The Super 850, IMO, is the best of the lot. The 850 Pro is thicker and stiffer. The Super 850 is more responsive and smooth.
All of them blow away the NRG2 which IMO is very average in that it is not durable and loses playing properties very quickly. The Yonex multis play fresh for a good long period of time
Maestro, if I were moving away from NRG2, and considering those last two Yonex strings, I wouldn't move to Yonex for what they do. I would choose Babolat's new one out, Xcel Power. I could also imagine preferring Babolat's Syntronic Brio or even Tecnifibre's new Multi-Feel to the 850 Pro.
Then by all means start with those two. Indeed, with your commitment to trying them out anyhow, I'm wondering that you even bothered to come in here asking our opinion! Here are some excerpts from USRSA playtesting in 1999 and 2001, when they came out, too, though, all the same
Is THAT what you meant? Was I *familiar* with Babolat and Yonex?Don't get me wrong I do value all suggestions from you and people on this forum. I was just curious to hear your opinions on both brands of strings (Yonex and Babolat) if you happen to have tried them. And thanks for the excerpts. I think I will start with the 850 Pro and Xcel Power....
The Super 850, IMO, is a better overall performer than the 850Pro, in spite of what posters have written.
More precise feel, better control; how's that?Yes you did. But I was looking for more specific answers like in what areas are Xcel Power, Syntronic Brio or even Tecnifibre Multi-Feel, better than the Yonex strings? As you know it takes a lot of time and money to try different string setups. So if you happen to have first hand experience with them and are care to share a bit more. I would very much appreciate your time. But don't feel obliged to do so. You have already been kind enough to name those strings that you think are better. I might just have to find out the rest myself.....
I haven't read everyone's posts, but I know someone mentioned Yonex Super 850. So I second this one.
Ok What is the best string Yonex makes ? which one is it?
Depending on your preference on feel, spin and power these are the best three from Yonex for maximum playability.
From Yonex.com
TOUR SUPER 850 PRO = Durability, comfort, 11% more spin
TOUR SUPER 850 = Great Power and Response with the Feel of Natural Gut.
TOUR SUPER 880Ti Soft > Softest and most powerful

Like Head, Yonex apparently prefers to promote 16L as a practical compromise; as you are doubtless aware too, some prominent online string retailers would not stock any of the thinner gauges no matter who made them.why do they not make the 17g strings? I had super850 on a demo and i thought it gave more spin than polys. is this possible?

No, and they do prefer to provide the 16L....
Is tour super 850 pro a same string as tour super 850 but more spin ?? or are they completely different string ? you say feel of gut for super 850 but not 850 pro ?
It makes a difference how you string these too. I've noticed with stretchy multis that a lockout machine makes them feel noticeably more cushy. I actually liked the 850 pro best on my constant pull, but I strung it much more loosely than I would most strings. I liked it around 52-54lbs whereas with NXT or syn gut I would string around 60lbs. I've since switched to poly though because multis just don't last me very long any more.
Any idea which of these strings would play closest to NXT Max 16?
Am currently using NXT Max as crosses hybrided with SPPP. I am looking for a cheaper alternative to NXT Max.
Do you guys think Pro hurr and Yonex 850 tour pro will work just as well ?
Don't see why not they should work just fine. Tried them and let us know
How do you like the RQiS 2 by the way? I'm going to demo one soon want something more forgiving on the serve with extend length.
Yonex 880ti is my favorite muli string. Holds tension and retains feel very well. I prefer it over NXT, sensation, stamina. Very good value.

It is a great racket for serving, i hit at least 1 ace every game i serve. on the groundies, i use alot of topspin so i don't have trouble keeping the ball in play. and Volleys, the racket is very quick and plenty of punch, especially good in half volleys. very stable on the half volleys which was a surprise. the swingweight is about 321. 326 by TW was a bit high from what i can tell.
Good to hear, especially about the serve. I will definitely give it a try then. Did you demo any other Yonexs to compare with? Say RDS 003?
I used to use Rqs-11 and i feel tour-2 is so much of a better racket, especially on the serves. tour-2 has little more swingweight which is good since it will produce more heavier balls. i have RDS001 also, tour-2 has more power and about the same in control
