Got to hit with the RQ iS Tour 1.

so i got to hit with this racquet today out of curiosity and i'm starting to fall in love with it. the only thing i didn't like was thick 25 mm beam which didn't hinder me but it was odd. i liked the fact that i could take such huge swings and still control the ball so well. spin was wonderful. having not had alot of experience with yonex i was extremely impressed. though i wouldn't be able to switch to it now because of having to take big swings at the ball i'm thinking about training my upper body quite a bit to be sure that i can handle it. in short i love this thing. what do you guys think about it.

for those who say this racquet does not have alot of power are wrong. if you can really get a huge swing you will get massive power. it's quite a weapon.

I really want to demo this racquet if time allows. I've heard so much praises about it on this board the only hesitation maybe be lacking power on serve. How'd you find the serve? What kind of string did you have on it?

My last experience with the RDS 001 Midplus was absolutely terrible. I found the racket to be way to muted on impact.... With the RQiS Tour 1, do you feel vibration on the hitting area when the racket head impacts with the ball? Am really curious to know if the RQiS Tour 1 has this same muted feeling as the RDS 001.

Ive hit with this particular stik for some time and found that if it is strung at above 57lbs that it is very low powered and creates lots of vibrations even with a damp and ended up messing with my shoulder elbow and wrist. Spin level was awe inspiring and the control, ball pocketing, and feel were great. Not to mention that it is the most forgiving 95in frame out there. If not for the bad vibes I was getting from this racquet I may have bought one. The only way I found to get rid of my arm pains was to put a shockbuster 2 on the stik which litteraly eliminated all feel which to me is just not an option. (shockbusters suck and spew stain juice all over u after around a month of heavy hitting:evil

What are the differences between the yonex and your pure storm tours?

I don't think so.
I have used the stick much longer than you.
But it is surely on low power level.
If you can really get a huge swing, you will get the more MASSIVE power with any other rackets.

I strung mine at 55lbs and it was fine. Lots of spin and power. Just don't miss hit the ball, that is when you lose power. New RDS001 racket is coming out, not sure if this racket will have more power than tour-1 ?? Maybe you should wait til you hit with new RDS 001 midplus before deciding ?

Is the new RDS001 you mentioned the one that Dementieva was seen wielding recently? Its seems like the old RDS001 cosmetic but with a black color paint on the throat. The rest of it looks very much the same as RDS001 as seen from the picture.

Would be great to see a newer version of RDS001 and with a totally new paintjob but not as flashy as the present but more towards something like a RDX500's color scheme.

i hit with the RQiS 1 the other week when i was coaching. i was only at the net and service line, but it felt really great. i didnt get get a chance to hit full court with it, hopefully that'll come next weekend, but already i definitely think its one of the best players rackets out there

well, i have a PST and currently demoing the RQiS Tour 1.... there are big differences. the PST is stiffer, gives you more access to power, and now has a responsive hoop (compared to its predesessor)... the PST feels heavier and more sluggish compared to the RQiS, the sweet spot is smaller, and has a more muted feel (now all of this may be heaven for some players... by the way my new PST is for sale!! ...) the PST has a constant beam which is strong, not a lot of flex.

the RQiS, has that buttery feel, is flexier and allows more access to spin. if you can generate a good amount of your own power... this racquet responds. i found with the demo i have strung w/ Wilson Sensation @ mid, the ball spins well but stays short, i will hit again today (i usually hit more flat and longer) i play a lot of S&V and i like the RQ, it responds well all around the court, and you don't feel like your getting knocked around... the racquet is quite nimble, even with the wide beam at the hoop.

both have good control, the edge going to the RQiS... but it's different. the PST has control with power, the RQ has control with gobbbbbs of spin. the RQ has a heavier spin serve (kicker), the PST serves big flat bombs!

i have played Pure Storms, Pure Controls exclusively for over a year now... and now playing with the PST. the PST is not for me (and i have customized it to try to make it fit for me)... i have to say this... the PST is a very, very nice stick. it is a great performer. you can really play big with this stick. if you like a stick, close to 12oz strung, is a touch stiff, helps with power, and has decent spin, give it a try... they (Pure Controls, PST) have a quiet following... but those who use them cherish them as a solid performer for day to day play!

Hmm. I was wondering if you guys could compare my rds001 mid to the RQ Is Tour 1 for me.

What stands about the rds001 is:

1. Crispness (Your shots get to the point, and you feel it like a razor)
2. Balanced Spin (Not too much, you could hit heavy, but if your just a semi-western with a bit of windshield, it is good)
3. Control is good (Although I believe you can have control with alot of rackets even PD or APD
4. Quite maneuverable
5. Solid Stick, you can't push this thing around

Is the RQ iS Tour 1 similar? Entirely Different? Has a few of the same traits of the rds001 mid and some others?

I am not the owner of Yonex, unfortunately. I cannot tell them how to color scheme the new RDS 001. One thing i will tell you is that RDS 001 midplus has bigger sweet spot than 1-tour. Powerwise, very similar i think. tour-1 is more manueverable than RDS001. control very similar, but RDS will feel softer and tour-1 will bend more.

Compared to my K95, it didn't have the solid-ness. From the Yonex racquets i have tried - RDS 001 MID and MP, Rqis Tour 1, i found the RDS001 MID to be the most solid, but i just didn't find my groove on my first serves with this stick, but kick serves were amazing.

with serves i really couldn't get alot of flat bombs going. spin serves were much better than ever. didn't try any kick serves. the main difference i noticed with the racquet is the feel, manuverability, and feedback. the Tour 1 gave better feedback more traditional and a nice buttery feel like many of you had said before. it was way more manuverable than the PST though. my PST's feel sluggish at the net. the access to power was a big difference as well. while they both have a lot of power, it's easier to generate it with the PST than it is with the Tour 1. still i think i'm going to try the new RDS 001 and see if it's different and i think i'll go from there but so far i really like it.

^^^ i'm in the same boat.. have a PST, coming from playing with Pure Controls... now demoing the RQiS tour1. i feel the same, spinny serves, great manueverability, nice for those with long fast swings... and the butter, oh the butter, it's layed on thick with this stick!!
the PST has a flex in the hoop that was not there with the PC, i guess it has more response (not feel) than the PC... i was also demoing the RDS 001 (i like the RQiS better) (oh and also trying thr BB11...i like this stick too)

i've also tried my friend's new Donnay and i liked that as well (not the oversize) wonderful racquet but i'm going to wait and see the difference in the 001's and if there is none i'm going with the RQ iS 1

i agree. yonex made a real winner with the rqis. the tapered beam is indeed kinda odd but once you start hitting, it isnt reallly noticable.

yea, its got plenty of power. the only part i didnt like was on serves. i just could find my groove with it but i could be i was was still adjusting

i demoed on RQ for 3 days now and i ve been impressed by the feeling it gives you. The buttery feel of a flex raquet plus something like the crispness of a stiffer one.
I feel that there is alot of power when you hit the sweetspot that is big for 95.
Plus, it is more arm friendly compering to 001 MP and to the 002TOUR.
I ordered one.

Do you mean that you found the RDS 001 mid to have the best kick serves?

If so, can you tell me what you strung it with?

I'm having a significant amount of trouble with my kick serves with the mid. It's bugging me, because it's the ONLY thing wrong with that frame that I can see.

I recently switched to Rq Is1 Tour after demoing it. Its not underpowered at all. I have set it up with SPPP 1.18 at 54 and Yonex Pro 850 at 60. It has lot of spin, at times too much spin that kind of makes it feel under powered.

But has more than enough plough through for flat drives. Great for volleys. The low swingweight for a players frame lets you get more agressive with service returns.

I just bought two of these frames recently, one strung with nrg2 and one strung with klip nat gut; both strung in the 57 lbs range it seems and it's just a solid stick from the groundstrokes and vollies. I didn't get the serve with it. It's got some good spin (both top and slice) and good heft/plow to it. I think I would go down a grip size if I were to use this frame full time but it's definitely comfortable in this setup now.
