Chalk one up for Wookie ex-waffle lovers anonymous vs. tall, fit dudes with solid two handed backhands (YEAH!!!!!!.)

Won first set at 6-4. Got off to a slow start but soon I was hitting shots off of shot balls that would have exploded the cones sitting at the corner of the sideline and services line. He came to the net a lot, but a few top-spin backhand lobs seem to keep him back even though he picked on my backhand.

Second set. My previously waffle loving ways started to take a toll in spite of going up 3-1. Kept losing my serve and balls were going into the net or 50 feet long. Couldn't finish a point like in the first set, so it was back to the drop ball drill. Dude moved me corner to corner, but I looped the ball back deep or rolled it short cross-court and kept tracking down the ball. He netted the ball on several vital points.

Kept seeing ghosts of waffles past but I moved on.

Tied it up at 5-5. He started over-hitting since I was getting balls back. Broke - 6-5. Cranked up the serve for service winners at 30-0 and 40-0. Got it at 7-5.

Nice to have a W - but I got a long way to go to get back to year of the wookie fitness.

I also need these janks restrung. Sup- whats the damage??? I may just drop them with you after Thursday if I can't get the Conejo.

Sup, I have to thank you for yesterday. I have never had that done before- video analysis of strokes and serves. (Everyone always told me I had nice calves...). As a rule of thumb, I never thought too much about straightening my arms out more during my strokes. Keeping my elbows tucked in reduces my lever arm and hence my power of shot. I think that would add more weight/power especially to my forehand. I will definitely have to work on that.

One of the best things I got out of the session, was the biomechanics of my strokes. To see how I pivot around while my foot is planted- it's no wonder I have had some of the injuries I have sustained over the years (and currently). So thanks for that as well.

Finally, I have a challenge for you, should you choose to accept it: I want to rework my serve. I am willing to change the motion/mechanics/stance/pronation/everything/anything to start to make it more of weapon. Can you possibly help me do so?

Once again thanks! I can't wait to see the video.

HW, it was good hitting with you again. Its been a while.

vitaly is here... i am all fugged up. i got blisters on hand, messed up right ankle, and messed up left knee. it is pretty frustrating not being able to get any push off from my legs to serve. <<almost enough pain to make my eyes well up and cry!>>

i am just going to stay drunk for next 72 hours and see if that helps the pain.

p.s. - i don't look like that guy. my nose is much pointier and my ears much smaller. same psycho eyes though! har.

Sorry about the damage, Vitaly. Rest up, and save your kick serve energy for warmer weather (or Thursday clinics).

p.s. that guy is identical, he just is purposefully not pointing his nose as much and he is puffing his ears out for the camera.

Def think about getting that racquet follow thru more into the court along with the critical step into the contact zone.

During our last hit, when you tried straightening your arm out and getting more penetration into the tennis court, your shots were about 25% faster and heavier. Perfect for taking your game to the next level. Also good luck on losing the weight. We must all avoid the waffle house.

The dogfish pizzas were money. Big enough for left overs, great tasting flat bread style and baked well. Its now on my favorite list.

Sup

I noticed the ball jumping more when I tried to extend as well. I also noticed on the few I hit good, I actually didnt have to swing as hard to get the extra power. I think if I can work and get that consistent it could really allow me to keep the ball deep more consistent. Depth is something I have lacked in my game.

I say lets revist thius video anaylsis at the end of summer and see what differences there will be for me.

Good win JRS. Brings a tear to my eye when you say defensive high crosscourt shot and staying in points. Looks like the clinics are helping you out.

Stringing will be fine if you can't find conejo. I usually charge about $25 bucks. I dont have any blue gear in stock, so let me know pronto so I can stock up.

Again good win. Hopefully you didn't celebrate at the waffle house.

We can definitely get your serve up in mph, add the flat serve with good accuracy and a lethal slice. Let me break down your serve videos a bit more.

P.S. Totally forgot to square up your last string job. Ugh. So ignore the big dude collecting at your door.

*yawn* morning TWMAC. it's a good thing this aussie open is over this weekend. i am operating on a few hours of sleep a night. the good part is my baby boy will likely be born next week tuesday and all this lack of sleep is good preparation for all the nights without any sleep at all. yay.

topaz -- i don't think suarez navarro is using a k90. i believe like a mere mortal she is wielding the 95 sq in model. still a mere mortal with one of the sweetest one handers guy or girl. i'd trade some of my internal organs for a backhand like that.

so i'm stuck at work and likely will go to my car this afternoon and it'll be covered in a foot of snow. anyone lucky enough to stay home today?

In your case there were simple tips to share. You def have a good foundation to build from.

Im at work also. Were thinkin here at harrisburg we wil get more snow than yous guys down there.

Navarro wont beat Elena the Centaur (still dont get sappys thinking). But i would trade my some internal organs to spend a night with Dementieva, but there would be a 95% chance that my external organ wouldnt function properly, thus wasting the donation of my internal organs. Still may be worth that 5% though.

Just trying to motivate you to get leaner and meaner. It cant be easy staying on track with Sappy as your lunch pal.

I definitely need to get leaner and meaner. Hitting 10 forehands, then 10 backhands in a row from 4 angles got me feeling a little tired... I kept thinking, if I were playing in a good match, that each point could go for as many strokes. I would only last 4 points!

->->->->Ground Units <-<-<-<-
->->->->Using Them Generally by themselvs <-<-<-<-

->->->->SCV<-<-<-<-

Quick Stats: VERY weak, does 5 damage, no starting armor, and is somewhat slow.
Yet is the most important unit in the game. This unit gathers minerals from
nearby mineral fields and gas from nearby vespene geysers (heck, it doesn't even
have to be close, anything they can access). SCV's can also repair, and multiple
scv's can repair one unit. USE THIS ABILITY WELL!!!

Upgrades: Diddly squat, even upgrading weapons won't upgrade them. Upgrading
armor will though (1+ each)

**Basic Strategy**
50 minerals each, made at the command center, you need to have alot of these.
Trust me. I've seen players play with the four scv's they start with, and they
wonder in amazement at how I got 12 marines and a tank so fast. You need lots of
scv's. Most vespene geysers made for most maps are near the command center, so
usually no more than four scv's are needed to be gathering gas for maximum
output. For minerals, no two scv's can mine from the same mineral at the same
time, unless they are NEXT to each other, or on the other side of the mineral.
For that reason, you may want around 1 1/2 scv's for every mineral field you
have. That way, as soon as one scv leaves to deposit the mineral, the other will
start and by the time the scv gets back, it should be almost done.

If it's not done, the scv will just go find a mineral to gather, which it
normally does pretty fast. On a map like 'The Hunters' I usually have like 12
scv's mining, which gets me the minerals I need fast enough.

Another important thing is to use the SCV'S ability to repair. Take scv's along
with attacks to repair your tanks and air units. Repair your buildings when they
are being attacked (if you see 12 siege tanks though, it's a futile effort)

sapient007

Semi-Pro
**Advanced Strategy**
-When a geyser runs out of gas, and you can't find any others (or don't want to
spend the money to build a refinery) then you can keep your scv's gathering gas
there. Instead of getting 8 gas each, they only get 2, but that supply is
indefinite.

-If you are being attacked by like zerglings or god forbid, zealots in an early
rush, and your defense was taken out, GET ALL YOUR SCV'S TO ATTACK! 8 scv's on
one zergling will kill it in one hit. 8 scv's on one zealot will take it out in
4 hits, and the zealot won't be able to kill more than one or two in that time.
Problem is the scv's usually like to get in different directions, so it's hard
to get like 8 attacking at once, but it's sure better than nothing, because what
is more effective, 8 scv's attacking, or sending one marine out at a time only
to be slaugtered by 5 zerglings before a shot gets off?

-SCV's can use way-points... kind of. Select your group of SCV'S and hold shift,
then press 'R' and click on every unit you want repaired, while still holding
shift. Then, when one unit is done being repaired, they will move onto the next
one you selected. Use this for reparing your fleets :) Be sure you have multiple
scv's so it's faster.

-Try and dropship scv's behind an enemy base (or at least nearby, like just
across an intercepting river) and build something there. It doesn't have to be a
command center (heck, DON'T build a command center unless minerals or gas is
there) but something like a barrack or factory allows quick access to the enemy
base for attacks. If you have found the enemy, and they haven't found your new
building there, you can make faster attacks.

-If you see a tank or two in siege mode attacking your base, and there is no
backup (happens in dropship attacks near your base) and if you scv's can access
it, get them to attack it! Tanks to EXPLOSIVE damage (I said it! I'm screwed) so
that means they do 35 damage to your scv's. Not enough to kill, even if upgraded
once. A few scv's should make it there before any die, and because of their
point blank attack, their tank's can't do diddly squad. If the tank's are spaced
apart, the tank will attack the scv, doing 35 damage to the scv, and about 70 of
splash damage to the tank. Two shots will kill the scv, but also the offending
tank ;)

->->->->Marine<-<-<-<-

Quick Stats:
50 Minerals of cost, no gas. Can attack both ground AND air, always doing six
base damamge, no matter what you are shooting. Probably the best property of
this 'lil sucker. Each gun upgrade increases their damage by one, and each armor
upgrade increases armor by one. Comes fresh out of the barracks.

Upgrades include stimpack, which makes them super hyper as if they just drank a
six-pack of jolt and makes them move and fire twice as fast for a while. Second
upgrade are U-388 shell upgrades which lengthens their attack range by one.

**Basic Strategy:**

Don't neglect this little guy. The only reason you might is you sent him by
himself, into a swarm of, oh say, 10 zerglings. You think "oh that gun will take
them out" but he doesn't even kill one. Why's that? For starters, marines only
work in large groups! What I mean by large groups is at the VERY LEAST, six of
them. Eight or more usually works well, unless you are facing absolutely massive
numbers.

One zergling, will always kill one marine. The marine can never win, unless you
are consistently running back and forth taking quick hits on the zergling.
Still, not worth your trouble.

Eight marines will kill the zergling before it even attacks one of them.

Another neat ability of marines are their stimpack abilities (researched at
academy). Individually click on each and activate it (with the icon in the
corner) or select a group of them and do it. Using a stimpack will make the
marine fire twice as fast and move twice as fast for about 15 seconds. The
drawback however, is that each use will drain 10 hp of their 40 hitpoints, so
you can only use it three times (you can't use it the last 10 as it would kill
them) unless you are playing Brood War and have medics healing them.

Still, the loss of hp is usually worth it. Use stimpacks whenever engaging
another group of units. Don't waste a stimpack on your team of 12 marines to
kill one enemy marine. Also, using multiple stimpacks at once doesn't "Make them
super buff" it just erases the last stimpack and reinstates it, so don't use
another stimpack unless the last one has been used up (you can tell)

The other upgrade, the U-388 shell/gun upgrade increases the marine's attack
range by one. This isn't neccessarily required, but if you are using any bunkers
they will help you. This will allow your marines to shoot enemies slighty
farther away, and get in another shot before they get near you.

Ideally, you use marines for either initial attacks, or as backup. A squad of 10
marines behind a couple tanks are very effective. If they have their shell
upgrades, it's even better.

Isn't the whole point of having snow days built into your schedule is so that, when it snows, you don't have to endure a h*llish ride into school, only to be dsimissed early and sent right back out into the crap?

JRK, is this the HCTL league? If so, there is a weather phone line where Ingrid will leave a recorded voice message saying if the matches are postponed or not.

Go to www.homecourttennis.com and the number should be on there.

I have no idea what this league is... Jrstriker said they needed people so I just showed up. I think it's some sort of practice league.

Yes, these leagues don't count, you don't need an official roster, but it gives teams a chance to work together during the 'off' USTA season.

My bet it is an HCTL league...wouldn't hurt to check the weather line just in case, or you can call Annandale.

Minerals Management Service, MMS, the guys who had all the fun out in Denver. The office is on Elden, Baron Cameron for the high-falutin' Reston folks.

Should be an interesting place with all the emphasis on energy, old and new. I'd be their personal PA guy, making sure the big, bad media doesn't eat them alive.
