Do Tursunov and Djokovic hate it out on tour, right now?

I saw them at Miami and they don't look like happy campers. Makes me wonder, is it just not playing up their expectations, or does the tour in general get under their skin. I get the feeling Tursunov is burned out, but may have no other options to pull the money he makes out there.

I saw Dmitri at Indian Wells, looks like he is just along for the ride, doesnt care about matches or working on things on court. the most intense I saw him was when he was playing frisbee.

My money is on Djokovic being in a lull as far as the attention he used to get vs. now and possible burnout

I think Djoko took a big mental hit after AO. He was very close to Fed in points and then just bailed out completely. All of a sudden he is far behidn Fed and Murray is on his heels. Also negative press has affected him and I think when it boils down to brass tacks, he doesn't really care what peoplel think. When he feels like it's "worth it again" he'll comply.

Tursunov I think is just a party boy. That's why he'd be burned out coz he doesn't go THAT far in tournaments?

I'm being unclear indeed. What I meant. His level has decreased. Due to a mental block after being close to Fed. Then negative press making it worse, the story with his parents. To deal with it he took on an "I don't care attitude." But I think he cares....a lot.

ah i get it, totally agree.

i think federer has the same kind of "easy come easy go" face on at the moment with his repeated losses to murray and nadal. it's the reaction of someone who is shellshocked and detaching himself from the gravity of his professional situation. (as far as knocking a ball over a net can ever have gravity as a profession)

i dunno how many of you are Dad's but with a baby on the way its really hard to say whats on his mind most of the time

i'm nowhere near being a father; i imagine often when asked "so do you think you can win the french?" he wants to say "if we have a girl we're gonna name her angie"

I don't think they hate on tour, because in the real world you wouldn't ba able to cruise your work on automatic and still collect great paychecks. I think Joker is sort of just cruisin' it right now on his talent alone, but he's taken off the hard work off court recently. His confidence sort of took a hit last summer with a few key losses to Nadal and Safin. I think he felt that all the hard work wasn't paying off so he took the foot off the pedal and is cashing a nice payday from Head for signing with their brand and is content with making it to QF's of Master's and Grand Slams right now.

As for Tursunov I don't think he's that good to begin with, he's a nice clean striker of the ball but he doesn't have much of a defensive game to even out the UE's he makes from killing the ball so much. He does come off as someone who doesn't seem to care, maybe he's not as dedicated as he SHOULD be, but I'm not entirely sure what his ceiling is as a pro. Top 20 perhaps? I don't think he's consistent enough to be top 10. Unless he's got a mindblowing ground game to make up for any defensive deficiencies.

So that explains the racquet change and why he won't change back. Interesting......Yeah... Djoko doesn't strike me as someone who would do what he hates. You're right he's just taken his foot off the pedal.

It'll be interesting to see how Fed fares on the tennis court in the first few weeks of fatherhood. I think it would be of the utmost importance that his kid is born AFTER Wimbledon. I'm sure he had it planned out anyway, but still, to play a Grand Slam and your child is born in the middle of it makes for tough concentration.

Touche, you got me there. And no, I haven't been part of a union. But I don't think the Tour is really a "union" if you get my drift. Even though they do have a player's union. In other words, if Joker's game dropped off even more his sponsors would leave him and he'd be on his own. If your performance drops off the player's union won't be there to save your ass.

Newspapers report that she's due/expecting in summer and that she'll be doing no flying during that period. I can't believe Roger wouldn't be with her at that time. I'm kind of expecting Roger to miss Wimbledon, unfortunately, or maybe he'll play and then withdraw and fly home in his private jet

i would certainly hope so! Not nice for fans, but how often is your first child born???

It's good to see Djoker getting less and less cocky. The expectancy theory indicates that when effort does not improve performance, people tend to become less motivated, which is exactly what happen to Djokovic at the moment.

Oooh. Isn't that the truth. Why do you think there are continuous strike is France? Any time the government tries to reign in the workers just a bit, boom, there is a strike. I worked with a guy who got a 6 week maternity leave, yes materninty leave and with full pay. Thats on top of the month off he gets for vacations and all the myriad of holidays.

There is absolutely no evidence that Tursunov is a party boy. For one thing he doesn't drink.

His writing may lead you think he's a happy go lucky kinda guy, but very often writers of humour are very sad / or troubled inside.

He comes across as intelligent. I think his father is an engineer of sorts. I'll bet the tour just isn't fun for him right now. The tour seems like it is great for people under 24. I can see 21 year olds eating that atmosphere up, no matter the rank. However, 24 on up, you start to become less flattered by the seemingly redundent atmosphere. Plus, I think it must get tough when you are older to relate to the younger guys. When I saw him practice, it seemed like he just went through the motions. Until he wacked two balls into the food court.

Other than that, I think he might feel like he is just a ball machine with organs, and tennis is now a real life job. He appears to have a lot of fun off the court, though.
