Good news, apparently this year DirecTV, DishTV and even TimeWarner would have free previews of Tennis Channel for their subscribers.
And of course DirecTV would have 6 HD mixed channels showing most of the courts in Roland Garros.

Great post buddy - thanks. One minor point - I think the BBC also broadcast to Scotland, Wales and Northen Ireland ;)

Tonight i guess? Can anyone pin this up please? Thanks.

It's not out yet - but I think it will be out pretty soon - the players will want as much notice as possible and there's no reason why the organisers can't give them it.

So it would be appropriate to put it as "UK Tv Schedule" then? Haha. :)

You got it mate:)

Incidentally, it's now less than 24 hours until RG starts - tomorrow's OOP has got to be out soon. I think Murray will be the only member of the top 4 to play - the other guys are due their extra day after their exertions last weekend. Novak was the only big gun to play on the Sunday last year.

Wow! 4th round coverage on NBC in the US. I'm impressed.

Maybe tennis is gaining in popularity in the US again?!.

NBC has had weekend rights to Roland Garros for years. It's usually tape delayed and edited, don't get your hopes up.

And don't forget the mid-Sunday feud between NBC and some of their affiliates. In these markets we get to see a telethon instead of Sunday's tennis.

Even with over-the-air digital subchannels, the word I get is that NBC might prefer to **** on its affiliates rather than let them show tennis on the secondary channel.

Consider filing a complaint....

I hate NBC.
They are just Tennis incompetents.

If you got blacked out by NBC on Sunday, consider filing an online complaint with the FCC. Very easy just go to

https://esupport.fcc.gov/sform2000/formF!input.action?form_page=2000...

Check off "TV Station", give Sunday's date and time (5/31/09 - 3pm).

The details of the complaint are that NBC violated public interest by insisting their affiliates black out the tennis (and all other network programming) rather than present it on a digital subchannel.

NBC doesn't own the digital subchannel. Everything I read about the digital conversion says things like "All uses of subchannels must be consistent with the public interest, convenience and necessity...." so maybe the FCC will do something.

Might get someones attention if a bunch of people complain......

Only on the East Coast.

On the West Coast, it'll be tape delayed by 3 hours as usual due to NBC's idiotic "10:00am in ALL Time Zones" policy. :???:

So the question is, do I call in sick tomorrow? :) Fed plays the late match so that will probably be on for most of their coverage window.

Now don't take my word for it, but Tennis Channel just announced that the Federer/Del Potro semi will be ON EXCLUSIVELY ONLY on Tennis Channel at 4:00pm EST/1:00pm PST, which would mean it will be on tape delay.

I find it very hard to believe that NBC gave up their rights to the Federer/Del Potro match and elected to show only the Gonzalez-Soderling match instead. Strange.

You should double check this because this would mean that the NEITHER men's semi will be LIVE on ANY channel in the U.S. because the first semi is Gonzalez/Del Potro and that starts live at 7:00am EST but NBC does not come on the air to show this match until 10:00am EST. Something smells rotten in the state of Denmark. :-?

This makes sense to me as the Gonzalez/Soderling match is likely to still be going on when NBC's coverage begin's at 10am. This would give them a chance to edit it and make it fit into the 3 hour time slot as opposed to picking up the Federer/Del Potro match sometime after 10am and showing it live until its completion likely going past 1pm. That would give TTC the chance to show the Federer match for the first time at 3pm. No live tennis but it's not a worst case scenario. I work anyways and will be watching on DVR when I get home at 5pm.

Probably not NBC's first choice but because the tourney scheduled Gonzalez/Soderling first they don't really have a choice.

so...as has become standard operating procedure these days...I'll have to be careful what tv & radio channels i visit as well as gingerly browse the net otherwise my efforts to enjoy a tv tennis match (dvr or "live") without hearing the outcome will be a challenge.

I really just wish that TTC could take over tournaments 100% and broadcast everything live...not even so much for the purpose of watching everything "live" but it would allow me to simply have my dvr run 24/7 over 2 weeks and I'd have complete control over EVERYTHING.

As it is...this semifinal day at RG is going to be butchered and one way or another the tennis viewer will once again be robbed of the spontanaiety...why can't they get this figured out!!!

As I see it...it is NBC that's to blame. The time has come for that old POS dinosaur to bow out gracefully. This is the semis day of a GS and it's 2009 with plenty of willing channels (TTC, ESPN2) ready and willing to broadcast live...this is truly Bull$%^&!!!

Why is it always tennis that gets the shaft?!?

Just found this, I think this seals the deal that there is no live coverage:

COVERAGE ON NBC SPORTS: Following is the schedule for NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2009 French Open, which culminates with live HD coverage of the women’s and men’s finals this weekend:

Friday, June 5, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (all time zones) – Men’s Semifinals
Saturday, June 6, 9 a.m.-Noon ET – Women’s Final (Live)
Sunday, June 7, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. ET – Men’s Final (Live)

so...here it is 7:15 in california...the semis are being played right now in france and after investing 2 weeks of watching live coverage leading up to the semis at this very second my 3 choices are

1 - NBC today show coverage of obama in germany
2 - tennis channel recapping 5 greatest temper tantrums
3 - ESPN2 i'd like to tell you but as i changed to that channel the anchor had begun to discuss results from the soderling match...and i had to quickly change channels but not before i'd heard enough to already ruin things for me.

NBC...we don't need you anymore...PLEASE get out of tennis once and for all. It is apparent that you do not give a rat's ass about the sport or its fans...you're simply getting in our way at this point and ruining things for us.

They would never dream of butchering any of the other major sports championships like this...why does tennis get the shaft so badly?

NBC...you're pathetic....please go away... you're of no use anymore!!!
