Jan Silva back in USA

In all seriousness, this "coach" seems like he has no credit what-so-ever. I am ok with opinions, but he has way too much negativity for Jan and his father. unless he shows us some video that he actually knows how to play, well then fraud comes to mind.

no credit, what are you talking about:rolleyes:........ LOL

Based on what I see of young Jan's body type, movements, foot speed, etc. I would say his best sports future would probably be baseball...and his best position catcher.

You want to act the fool, be my guest. I simply said what many others have said....we have all seen many talented tennis kids. It truly means nothing as far as a pro career. Jan hits very well. Jan seems like a wonderful kid. Jan has no bigger chance of making it in tennis than 1000 other talented tennis kids around the world.

The boy was set up perfectly. His mom was a tennis pro. He had access to courts everyday. His parents were married, and his siblings doing there thing. The perfect environment for a little tennis kid to enjoy and thrive. No pressure....and what 4 year old should be pressured??

His dad starts making Grand Slam predictions, sells their possessions, takes the kids to another country. His parents end up seperated and moving back.

This little boy now has to grow up where anytime he wins it is meaningless....why enjoy winning a local tournament, dad says Grand Slams. I have seen similiar things happen 100 times. As he gets older he may even wonder if his tennis caused the parents to split.

You show me one time when Sampras or Federer or Nadal had to not only battle all the things required to make it in tennis....but also their dad's making Grand Slam predictions over and over and over again? You can't.

My OPINION is that Jan's dad is dead wrong in the way he is handling the child. He is stealing the enjoyment of the journey from the boy.

And if you don't agree fine. But I will keep giving my opinions. And frankly could not care less if you like them or me. Many of your other posts are nothing but arguing with everyone with very little that is constructive. 4500 posts, about 4300 which are argumentative.

You are the perfect example of what is wrong with people. You claim to know exactly what happened and the situation. YOU are completely clueless as to the facts. You may know of some effects of the situation, but you are utterly clueless as to how things happened. You don't know the family, you don't know Scott and you just make claims about things you don't know anything about. You are easily one of the most ignorant posters on this board. I thought NoBadMojo was bad, but you have now taken the crown. Your "opinion" as you call it is based on what you THINK are facts and here is what makes YOU look stupid; you don't know anything about the situation...none of us do.

I also doubt there are "hundreds" of kids at his age that can play tennis at that level...you are not only ignorant, but an exaggerater. Its obvious you are trying as hard as you can to discredit someone and make them look bad on the Internet.

YOU are hiding behind a fake username and you think its OK to chastise others. we can all give our opinion on players and how we should play, but to give an opinion about someone else's lifestyle and decisions they make in their OWN LIVES makes you look like an envious fool.

Agassi had a lot of pressure on him. He was hyped at a very early age, just like Silva. Richard Williams made grand predictions about his daughters. Earl Woods predicted greatness for Tiger. It doesn't necessarily destroy a kid.

Speaking of Agassi, you didn't think that he even had a slightly greater chance of making it than other kids his age when he was as impressive as he was at age 7? If so, I'd say you were wrong. Any kid that age probably won't make it big, but I think it's off base to say that the talent they display at that age is worthless as an indicator of potential.

You are the perfect example of what is wrong with people.
I would add, this is the perfect example of why US tennis is going nowhere and down the drain. It is because of these minimalist coaches in FL.

They have problems predicting tennis talent at such a young age yet they seem to have no problem predicting baseball catchers at such a young age:confused:, too funny

It looks like Mr. Silva has taken my advice.

you got it. this guy is purely ignorant about the Silva's yet makes claims that no one but that family can substantiate.

I have been involved in quite a few threads with this guy and he has no credibility.

Mike sent his son Andre to Bolls as a teenager. There are rumors of drug usage at that time. The academy concept was not well-established, and the security and other arrangements would probably come under legal scrutiny in today's world. No doubt some thought Mike was a jerk for sending his son off. Andre himself rebelled against his father.

But see how it turned out.

Jan is legally entitled to decent living conditions, compulsory education, and freedom from abuse. Beyond that, the law allows parents to shape children the way they want, however weird it may seem to others.

If you don't believe that then you are quite misinformed. It may not be the 100 like TCF said, but there are kids out there just as good as Silva and even better. There's a 6th grader in my city that's beating seniors on Varsity and at age 10 was hitting with atp players. There are many kids out there who are better at tennis than you think.

Sure. You agree with the claim that there are hundreds of Jan Silvas in south Florida alone, and I'm the one who is misinformed. Exaggerate much?

He was exaggerating but there are many people out there and I bet at least 10 down in South Florida that are just as good as Jan Silva.

Pro Tour you have to understand that TCF can tell by "watching a video" or "hearing" from some guy that "attempted to play on the pro tour and now is a coach trying to teach something they never did well at .

he says my son is going to a D2 college just by watching a video of him, he says by looking at a video he can tell you muscle tone , He should leave the coaching up to us experts and become a fortune-teller he knows the future

You guy leave TCF alone we profiled him and he's at best a coach at a "parks and rec center" who attends a lot of tournys and reads a lot of articles so he some what informed but is he at the level of some of us more expertise coaches NO! he's not at our level but dreams of it and thats good that he will aspire to our level ,

But really let him feel important like he's plugged in .

Do you guys think you're cool because you're making fun of him on a board where everyone clearly sees you both as immature? Especially seeing as Brad is a father--and I may not know Azzuri's age, but immature nonetheless. Ridiculous.

But fact is - no one was "making fun" of anyone. Just stating opinions and exposing inaccuracies.

Yes, I am a New Yorker and it would be my pleasure to buy you a slice or two of our pizza. As for making a comment on something I don't know much about, I will skip that. Btw, I am looking forward to some new videos of Deiton.

Odd, you just replied to one.

i think were looking for something with substance , a real off the wall insult , some coaching advice that cant be backed with a video or any proof of validity , such as inner-city kids are the only true athletes on the earth (tenniscoachflorida) special.

Or be like some of us on here who have hopes and dreams for our kids and other kids on here who are giving their all .

I hope it all works out for the kid. I have a hard time understanding parents that put their children through all of this when they are that young. 5 years old and changing the family forever, selling everything, losing a normal childhood - all to pursue the "parent's dream"? I can only imagine the stress on all involved. The child was obviously too young to know what is best so you have to hope that parents make good decisions. The jury is waayyyyy out on this one. Could be another tragic ending due to parents selfishness failed dreams- I hope not.

Whats a normal childhood? still waiting for the right answer ,not just the way we see it here in America. And looking at the way most of the youth are turning out here in the USA not sure we want to say thats the right way ! Take Columbine for instance Klebol and Harris had the normal upbringing as we say ,in fact they had a bonus they had money and we know the end of that story. But anyways the question was whats a Normal childhood?????????????

Exactly....you will learn to laugh at the Brad's and Azzurri types on these boards....it is funny how the same noisy types always align with each other!

Have either of them seen Jan play recently...no. Do either of them know someone close to them who has seen Jan hit...no.

Well I have talked to a coach who just saw Jan recently at Emerald Greens over in Tampa. The boy hits very well. Is he especially fast covering the court?, no. Can he serve much at all yet?, no. He also does not play side to side very well yet. Has he had any tournament success yet?, no. In short, a great straight on practice hitter, no spins or touch yet. But so what, he is only 7. I am sure he will learn these things in time.

Now, please visit south Florida...the corridor from Key Biscayne up through Jupiter. There are literally thousands of kids who have been at the courts since they were 2-3 years old. Most are average, some are not good at all. But at least 100 from 4-8 are every bit as good, or better than Jan. Why shouldn't they be? Many are the kids of former elite pro and college athletes who populate the area down here....they have access to great facilities and coaching....and it is super competitive down here. Why on earth would there not be many talented tennis kids??

The ones who have the better coaching such as Macci or Kozlov are already serving, covering the court, playing angles, using touch at 7-8. Jan is not.

Why is this such a big deal? Jan's dad sought publicity, that is his right. It is a cute story, a little boy who hits a tennis ball very well.

The vast majority of other parents don't look for coverage.....why are their kids any less talented? They are not.

What in the name of Sampras do the Columbine killers have to do with anything? Holy sh*t?! Did someone suggest that this little boy will grow up to be a sociopath no matter which direction his parents take him? I must have missed that post, lol.

Maybe "normal" is to general a characterization and it can be many things. I know what it is NOT. Selling everything, packing up, spending every day playing tennis and being coached since age 5, missing a youth full of stress-free playing, friends, and school....and just being a kid. Having your father quit his job, sell the house, move to another country, potential divorce, and loss of stable income and family life - THAT doesn't seem "normal" in my book. Maybe this boy has, or can recover, that. I hope so. Like I said..the jury is way out on this case. I hope it all works out for the best. I just see many roadblocks along the way.

Arguing with Brad is pointless, he never makes any sense. Those boys had 15 guns and pipebombs in their bedrooms, in plain sight. Their parents never said a word.

I remeber being 15 and being in many, many friends rooms. No pipebombs laying around....our parents knew if they smelled firecrackers for goodness sakes!

Those boys were not raised normally in any sense of the word. And like you said, no one thinks Jan is going to grow up to be a sociopath anyway.

you know, for a minute I thought you may actually provide some actual proof that you are indeed a coach or something that involves youth tennis in Florida. But here is the deal, you have absolutely no evidence that you are a coach or involved at all with any coaching in South Florida. Here is the thing, you just hide behid your username and try to convince people you know something about tennis and especially junior tennis. But your constant BS about Silva only shows/proves you are not a coach but probably a worthless out of job bum that wants sorely to belong. only a complete fool would actually believe you or have any confidence in what you claim.

Back in the beginning of this country people packed up and jumped in a wagon and headed west to strike it rich and look for better lives and that all turned out pretty good for all of us today.
As for columbine you stated you hoped he'd have a "normal" childhood, I was pointing out those boys had a "normal" childhood and all I am saying is no perfect blueprint

You miss his point. the question was "what is normal" and he used a perfect example as to what is supposed to be "normal" in that those Columbine kids were brought up in normal households and what eneded up happening? You see, you are passing judgement about the Silva family from a few morsels of information. Unlike Tennisfloridawannabecoach, Brad is just simply stating to each his own and try not to make slight of a situation that may be different from yours. You make the Silva's situation sound so cut/dry and honsetly you are as ignorant a poster I have met...not stupid, but completely ignorant. You actually seem like a bright person, but how you can possibly pass such judgement is beyond any logic. You, Brad and everyone else on this thread don't know what really happened, so why assume what happened? Do you really believe everything you read or hear?

Very true....no one has a clue who anybody really is on the internet.
