Great review.

How is dunlop's overall quality control?

And I still think the AG300 has a better pj than the 4D :D

I've always enjoyed Dunlop's quality control. Both of my racquets have the exactly same balance, and feel exactly the same as well. I know some people that have bought some AG 100s and 200s from both USA and Europe and never complained about them being different.

Yeah, I remember you saying that even before I got my 300Ts, and I definitly agree on that, after seeing some AG non-4D at the stores.

the pure storms have some nice pjs as well, but the new versions (haven't come out yet) look too much like the aero storms, IMo.

Yeah I liked the design, but now that I have the 300Ts I don't fine them that beautiful anymore:p

I don't like the new Babolat pattern as well. But, they really had to change the pjs, that's for sure.

yeah, the old Pjs looked nice, but were getting outdated.

I've heard that Babolat has weaker paint>>>>more chips. It's a shame really.

My PStorms had really fragile paintjobs. It was embarassing. One minor scratch kept growing until it became a huge hole.

Nice review DaD! Glad to hear you are enjoying your time with the Tour.

Pimp, how is the stringing going? Have you missed a hole yet? I did that fairly early, and was I ever pi...d.

My ag300 16x18 arrived today, had a good two hours with it too. I had it strung with Head rip-control at 56lb.

I'm loving the balance and the string pattern and it does wonders for my all court game. i might just fall in love with this stick. Hoping my arm keeps up with it, if not, i going to be Pissed big time!!

I might post a review later this week, right now, i'm too exited and i just want to play and see if my first impressions are to be confirmed.

Hi shell, stringing is going great. Not missed a hole yet but plenty of really stupid errors made! I actually find it quite relaxing and also I'm touting for business to get my payback period down (spoken like a true accountant) on the machine and course costs. Lots of interest from friends and guys at the club and of course the cost savings it has provided me with have meant that I'm nearly half way there in paying for the whole thing...

In any case 58M / 62X seems to suit me in terms of tensions and I have a few different strings to try. When my arm is better and I'm playing more regularly I will string more of my AG300s and will report back!

Haven't you already fallen in love?;)

Hey Pimp, good luck with your new hobby:)

I have also had my beauties strung with the crosses tighter, I was really curious about what kind of difference it would make. Haven't had the chance to hit hard on the ball yet.

I was at my local shop yesterday and noticed that these fine beauties were now marked down to $95 brand new. I'm thinking about picking one up as a back up or to mess around with from time to time even though I am completely happy with my current frame (in sig below).

Now that the 4D models were released, Dunlop has listed lower all the AG line. And you can still find them almost everywhere. For who always wanted to have one but wouldn't spend that much money, now is a good time.

I "feel" (i.e. this might be subjective) that I can string the mains lower, feels like more dwell time and more spin generation, but with the crosses higher any reduction in control is compensated for. Also not as much string movement as when both are lower.

I tried mine as low as 53 and this was way too low, 56 is probably the lowest I can go to but power isn't really a problem with the AG300s, I need more help with control!

I'm going to demo this racquet in a few moments. Last week I played with the AG 500 Tour, did not like that stick at all. No feel what so ever, my shots went no where I liked them to. I hope the 300 will be much better....

Hope this works out. It should feel a little less harsh, it is not as stiff nor as powerful...it is a different racquet altogether.

Here's an update. I own both the AG 4D300 Tour and the AG 4D 300. I played in a doubles tournament this past weekend and used the 4D 300 standard, not the tour. My serves were extrememly solid and were a weapon. The lightness of the racquet came in handy for doubles play. I do have 2 grams each at 12, 2, 3, 9 and 10 for added stability. I'm thinking I may continue to use the AG 4D 300 for doubles and the 300 4D Tour for singles.

Glad that you have both and like both:)

You know what's strange? Even with all that added lead tape to the upper hoop (10 grams total) the AG 4D 300 swings easier than the 300 4D Tour. It is more head heavy than the 300 Tour but somehow swings easier.

That's really weird. the 300 is already head heavier than the 300T, with all that lead tape it was supposed to have a heavier SW as well.

`Indeed, it's a totally differen racquet than the 500.... and I loved it! :) I played with a 18x20 version, what is the main difference with the 16x19 string pattern? I noticed most people choose the 16x19, does it differ much in power, control and/or comfort?

16x19 get better top spin too.

Hey Guys,

Can some of you all who play with the 300 4d share some of your string combos?

What has worked best and what hasn't?

I really liked Pro Supex Big Ace 1.22 in mains, Gosen Super Micro 16 in crosses. Awesome control and spin. Unfortunately poly doesn't like me and I had some hand issues so I switched to Wilson NXT Tour 17 at 57 lbs. I serve like a beast with this NXT Tour 17...it gives me so much confidence. It's excellent from the baseline and at the net as well. Good pop, good control, nice spin. Give it a try if you like an all multi stringbed.

Rev, I'm confused. Did you play with the AG 300 16x18, AG 300 16x19 or the 4DTour version at 18x20? The AG 300s only come in 16x19 or 16x18. The 16x18 is about .5 oz heavier with a more HL balance. The 16x19 is slightly lighter with a HL balance, but less HL than the 16x18.

The differences are pretty much what you would expect by their weight and balance.

If you clarify your question, we will be glad to help you out!!!

300 16x18

I bought the 16x18 about 3 weeks ago and just love it. I had demoed both the 300 4d and Tour 4d and neither of these rackets can hold a candle to the 16x18. The racket feels like an extension of my arm. Shot placement is a breeze and you can summon spin on command with little effort. It has a soft feel with just the right amount of feedback. I played around with some lead at 10 & 2 to see if I could sweeten it up even more but took it off. Love it in stock form. I have demoed over 20 rackets in the past few months and this one is a hands down winner!

I wholeheartedly agree. It's amazing how different the 4d and non-4d feel.

Sorry for that, I was under the impression that de AG 4D Tour is available in 18x20 (which I am demoing now) and also in 16x19. This is not the case, if I want 16x19 I would have to buy the 4D NON-tour version.

I have not played with the non-tour version, but I am liking the Dunlop AG 300 4D Tour 18x20 very much. Played a tournament match today and won pretty nicely with it, so that decided me to go and buy this racquet next week! I am coming from a Head I.X.Extreme which is nice, but lacks power, I am swinging my arm off to get some depth. Before that I played with a Head Lite Tour 630 from 1996 (black-green frame), I had it re-string the other so I can play with it again. Very head heavy frame but I remember playing pretty good with it back in the days :).

Why thank you sir. They are beautiful, and I have meant to put them up for awhile. I should frame the pic and put it up in my livingroom, like a real racquet nerd! :)

Hi everyone. I traded my 300 Tour back for my old 4D 300. I prefer the maneuverability of the 300 standard and the added spin I get with it.

I also made the mistake of taking out a demo of the Wilson Kobra Tour (Tsonga's stick)...wow, what a racquet. It really suits my game because I can rip topspin or flat shots and keep them deep to my opponent. Not sure how it serves yet because I just took it out once. More to follow...

I'm a AG 4D 300 Tour user and I must say that I don't regret at all switching from my old PStorms to there babies. They are excellent, and the dense string pattern doesn't cause me much problems with spin at all.

This weekend I've tested my racquets with a 58/63 tension pattern( mains/crosses ) and I just loved it. It felt more solid, the SS has really narrowed a bit, towards the top and the bottom of the stringbed. It was a really good change for me since I like to hit the ball at the top of the stringbed, and I can get plenty of power when I need to without losing control. My hitting partner really suffered this weekend:mrgreen:

I feel like I've reached an optimum string tension setup for me. It doesn't feel harsh nor stiff to my arm, I have enough control and can generate plenty of power togo for winners.

Also, I feel like i'm getting used the vibration on this racquets, and I'm falling in love each time I get onto the court. Tennis has been a real pleasure since I've bought them.

I'm getting a 300 4D this week. I've used the M-fil 300 with some lead at 3 and 9. A great racquet but unstable without lead.

When people are switching from M-fil to 4D, are they still using lead in the hoop to make the new racquet more stable?

Hey Guys,

Can some of you all who play with the 300 4d share some of your string combos?

What has worked best and what hasn't?

At the moment, Silver String 17 58M/56C is working very well for me. I'm at about 10-12 hours and the string bed hasn't changed a bit since the first 15 minutes.

I tried a low cost Federer setup, but I went too high on the poly cross tension (58 with SS 1.25). Even so, I still think I prefer a poly main with a syn gut cross, which I have at the stringer now. That will be Black Code 17 mains with gosen og 15L in the crosses.

I've read a couple of posts where guys are using a multi with good success. I tried NRG2 17 at 60 and it was just too powerful for me. I guess I like to swing away so I need more control. Too bad because that string feels sweet!

The OEM recommended Mfil 16 for me played really good and established a good baseline for me. It was a little stiff, lacked pop and the contol/power ratio wasn't great, but in general a setup I could really play with.
