Travelling with Racquets

Just flew out to California from the East coast and back last week and checked my racquet bag. Both coming and going the TSA pulled my bag. My theory- Foil packs of string in there. Just an FYI.

rasajada, thanks for the info . One quick question: can u have your bag with racquets as carry-on ?? I'm going oversea pretty soon and need to figure this out. Thanks

I second that. Recently I traveled to Tuscon for USTA nationals. I took my babolat bag as a carry on. I carried 5 rackets, shoes and all other tennis stuff in it. I lover southwest for this and bunch of other reasons.

Need more info - what country. From the US to anywhere TSA will not complain. Even to China. I did have a problem on an intra-China flight a few yrs back. But I calmly stuck to my guns (maybe not the best phrase to use ) and they relented.

The majority of airlines will allow you to carry-on. If you look on their websites under carry on regulations, there is generally a special circumstances section for things like tennis racquets that could be damaged in the shipping or have strings lose tension and become unplayable.
I have personally carried on my Prince 12 pack back on American, Southwest, Continental, and United. Just make sure you place the bag in the overhead bin correctly with the handles of the racquets in first and they should fit like a glove!

I thought everyone just carried a professional letter of endorsement from there national association or tournament invitation.
