Fact : He lost to delpotro back to back

Fact : he lost to Davydenko who won for the first time in 13 attempts .

Opinion : I don't have one do you ?

I don't believe he will become the federer of old again, but i think he will win a few more slams and stay in the top 5 until he's 50 or so :)

I don't think we can say he is done by the results of his last 5 matches, which happened to be the last 5 of the touring season. There could have been a multiple number of reason Federer was not playing his best. This gives no valid point to say he is done or anywhere near being done.

These reactionary posts really get on my nerves. :)

Fed is not done. And he's not done winning grand slams either. Deal with it!

Federer is in limbo, nobody knows where that train is going (maybe more domination or maybe big losses), but Nadal the equation is simple - if Nadal wins the Australian then it would look clear that he will win 2 or 3 slams in 2010, because surely his team won't let him overplay the claycourt season (since he can afford to skip a title or 2 because he will pick points up at Wimbledon)....

Fed only made the finals of all 4 slams, won 2, won 2 masters, made the semis of 3 other masters, and the semis of the Masters Cup...sounds like a real sh!itty year...he's definately donezo

Federer will contend for slams even though he is in decline. He just won't rack them up like in the past. Lets see, after he got to eleven, twelve slams, how long did it take to get to fourteen, fifteen? Sixteen, seventeen and so on won't get any easier. He'll be more hard pressed now just to keep that semi's streak going. Those good 'ole days are over, despite the denial of die-hard Federer supporters.

I'll take fighting Fed for #16 please!

these threads need to stop. serious if judging by this criteria then anyone who didint win 2 Grand Slams last year and make it to at least 1 final is done. they should just retire.

Some pro players are content just to be contenders even after they have reached their peak. Billie Jean King and Jimmy Connors are two primary examples. Others, like Bjorn Borg just couldn't settle for second best after having reached the summit. Many more examples that go both ways.

After having lost in the US Open and the WTF tournament I think he must prepare himself to go down from the podium and start again from scratch to try to recover some of his past prestige. He can play perhaps another year before thinking to retire.

I completely agree. Odd thing is that I didn't see you protest when the "is Nadal done" thread appear.

I'm not a Fed fan, but let's face it, he was in every slam final of 09. He's long from decline. Honestly, the best player in history could easily add 6-8 more slam titles. Of course he could do a Barry Sanders & retire early, but would hate to see it happen. It will be fun discussing who will replace him. Can Nadal do it? He was close to doing it before some injuries.

The point is that Federer is not in that 2nd group yet. Until he goes an entire year without winning a slam or maybe doesn't make a single slam semi for a year, then I'll agree he's demote to just "contender" status.

i didnt see that thread lol so you made this one just because there was on for nadal?

Exactly . I think they both have a very bright future . Think of how inasane this thread is....between the two of them they won three out of the four grandslams this year and people are actually asking if they are washed up?? Nuts!

Fed at 28 is too old and should retire???? Some quality thought processes going on with a few posters.

There are only a few players that can hang with Fed even on a bad day. As long as he is still enjoying tennis, he can play as long as he wants.

He will get 2 slams in 2010.

No.. he is not done, but i read in a thread around here that both him and Nadal are Finnish, wich is weird because one carries Swiss passport and the other one Spanish... maybe this whole mistery will come out in a future biography about them using fake passports and doing Skitlles and other PED's...

by them i hope that the judgemental Shureshins will come up with all sorts of unproven bs to criticise them..

enough with futurism...

ps: i have been reading Osvald Spengler...:)
