The AO has always been the weakest slam.
No surprises.
No surprises.
Tiley has pulled the strings as he wanted and gave his protégé a path of roses.I can’t believe how bad this years AO is. Generally the best quality over the years has been at the AO. Wimbledon was the joke. Now it’s the AO? Everyone is hardcourt specialist today so no excuse for it . Why has this slam sucked so bad?
Lew said some nice comments about the Fed Millman slam matches but can't remember all of them offhead lmaoStill remember the likes of Oceans II saying Fed's level in set 1 was the best he ever played or something like that lol.
Yikes.Djokovic last 4 AO SF opponents
Pouille
Karatsev
38-year old one-legged Federer
Tommy Paul
Lmao. @Oceans II and @ABCD have disappeared after the WimbleDon Final after posting articles and agreeing that Djokovic is playing the best tennis of his life and that he’s just different than everybody elseStill remember the likes of Oceans II saying Fed's level in set 1 was the best he ever played or something like that lol.
And the funny thing is, none of those matches were easier than this:Djokovic last 4 AO SF opponents
Pouille
Karatsev

Tommy Paul

Barely and Thiem began to miss with their backhand too much in sets 4 and 5 of the final.Yeah, some of these draws were sus but we’re including three runs where Djokovic proved his mettle in the final:
‘19 - played well beyond his usual base-level to wreck Nadal (albeit a toothless Ned).
‘20 - beat Nadal’s conqueror
‘21 - routined Nadal’s toughest opponent the following year
Seems odd to focus on just one round. That’s not to say these were KILLER drawz, but Djokovic got through them with more than enough aplomb.
‘23 was pretty weak, sure. Still probably beats Nadal of last year in 4 sets.

He peaked in the tournament against Nadal in the quarterfinals and even so the Spanish player missed several opportunities to have the advantage in his favor.
It is clear that Nadal inexplicably choked against Tsitsipas in the 2021 edition and allowed the Greek player to recover.
And Tsitsipas had a set point in his favor against Djokovic in the second set of the final but he was very cautious.
Instead of being a set even, with the disadvantage of two sets against, the final result of the match was decided there.
And people wonder why Djokovic has been undefeated once he reaches the semis.Yikes.
unironically, this is a pretty good place for "67.51% games won > 59.92% bud"‘23 was pretty weak, sure. Still probably beats Nadal of last year in 4 sets.
2023 Novak would ROFLMAO 2022 Ned harder than he did in 2019, let's be honest, lol.Yeah, some of these draws were sus but we’re including three runs where Djokovic proved his mettle in the final:

At the USO 2017 Nadal's last three opponents managed one good set between them, that's what Djokovic's opponents have to beat - I'm not convinced they will.
