I...LOVE LOVE LOVE the Olympics! And my absolute favorite is the Winter Olympics!
Some thoughts:
*I kinda liked the opening ceremony. I thought the light displays were really cool and well done. I wasn't sure how much of the performances (fiddling and clogging) were traditional, either, but maybe some of our resident Canucks can help us out?
*By the end (or close to it, I feel asleep) both me and my neighbor wanted to move to Canada!
*It was heartbreaking watching the Georgian team walk in...how utterly sad what happened to such a young athlete.
*I honestly don't think the US has a shot at a hockey medal. I would love to see the Canucks win it, though I think lots of teams are pretty deep and will have a shot.
*Lambiel was the...uh...'happiest'...flag bearer I've ever seen. Not that there's anything
wrong with that.
*What was with the US outfits???? Cream sweaters and
white pants? Were they actually pants? Or sweatpants? Or jodphurs? And tucked into boots? With big heavy jackets? Who is running the show over at Polo these days? They were only slightly outdone by the Czech federation and their crazy pants...there was another delegation with crazy pants, too, but I can't remember who they were.
I am ready for some skiing and skating...woot!
