Hey guys just wanted to know where people on this forum stood :p i know there is a thread of worst string, but its not exactly the same. I want to know all strings you used, or all the strings you remembered and you don't use anymore because you found a better string :p

Perferbly list the string that didn't work for you and state why :p
In addition you're welcome to leave what strings you're using now :)

Although I am no connoisseur of tennis strings I've had really bad experiences with the following strings: kgut pro, sigum pro poly HEXtreme, and all the free Alpha strings i got with my stringing machine was crap.

I did like red code, some of the lists here are exact opposite to my experience, only goes to show the subjectivity of string preference, anyway here is my no go list

Luxilon-too harsh and and expensive fast tenson loss
Pro hurricane tour-Ok but loses tension also
MSV Focus hex-thinking of using it in my weed eater
Kevlar-too Harsh

everything else i have tried is useful at least in a hybrid

Couldn't agree more! Especially your comment on MSV Focus!!! I have an extra set of MSV(red)....was wondering what to do wih it, Weedeater idea sounds great!!! Thanks....PS- Love your sense of HUMOR!

Black Code,,-- no power plastic string.
alu power -- no feel and unpredictable power.

Luxilon ALU Power Fluoro & Luxilon Big Banger TIMO

Fluoro played very well for about 2-3 weeks, then died. I actually got tennis elbow in the time it took me to break them after that. TIMO I tried for a week and cut them off. TIMO is way too soft to be a player's string, and, just like fluoro, died after the week I played with them.

I currently play with Luxilon Big Banger M2 Pro 16L. That, along with the odd set of Babolat 17 Natural Gut, is my string of choice

Adding PHT to my list. It's **** stuff I thought. Stiff and underpowered. Tonight I'm having a hit with focus hex and cyber red. I have a feeling cyber red will be added here. When stringing I just kept thinking. This is gunna suck.

Same here. PHT messed my elbow. It was great for a match, maybe two. But I kept using it thinking it would break in, but it just got stiffer and broke me.

Gamma revelation was free with my x-2 and that played well for about an hour then sucked.

All in all you are going to get every string possible on this list and the other because one man's trash is another's treasure.

Another former PHT hitter here...so +6 or wherever it's at, to that!

Lux Adrenaline (meh, sorry no better way to describe it)
Wilson Hollow Core Pro (too mushy)
Lux ALU Power - Smooth (I'll agree with the unpredictable power statement)

tnt fatcore-- great price, dull performance
pro huricane tour - tried the 18g, had better performance from golden set 18g poly at one fourth the price.

Genesis Black Magic: no spin and very hard to control. Felt too soft for me even when I strung it a couple lbs higher. It's pluses would be it's power, felt like syn gut type power.

PolyStar Classic: It felt great warming up but every hit it felt like the string was loosing tension and quick. Also moved a lot like a syn gut.

Strings I like: Topspin Cyberflash, Unique Big Hitter Blue and Silver, and current string Solinco Tour Bite.

Gamma Professional Livewire 17, to mushy and lost tension way to quickly.
Msv Focus Hex 17, plastic feeling, basically no feeling at all.
Big Ace 17 way too soft. IMO.
I did some blind play tests and some of them I tried were not up to par or to my liking I should say. I know that doesn't count but hey..............:)

SPPP - good control, good spin, ok feel, doesn't feel harsh when I hit the ball, but I get wrist problems when playing with it for an extended period, even in low tension hybrids. Yes, it's partially my fault, due to some technique issues on the forehand, but other strings do not cause the same problems for me.
Luxilon BB Original "Rough" - "rough" is a good word for its description. No feel, no power...no nothing. I think it would be useful as a tool for choking somebody to death, but that is about it.
I would start with the guy who designed the string

This is such a pointless thread.

Different strings in vastly different racquets in different tensions for players at wildly different levels of ability are going to produce vastly different comments.

There are great strings listed in this thread and there are people saying that they 'blow' or 'suck' without explaining why. We're not talking $2 generic synthetics here in 15g. In reality, its likely to be the player that has the deficiency because unwittingly they labour under the misconception that strings are somehow going to compensate for technical deficiencies in their game.

I can play with most strings. I might prefer a certain type of string, but I've yet to come across any string that 'completely blows' or 'completely sucks'. Alot of players I know at the 5.0 level player with beat up racquets and some generic string from a reel, and they still play a great game and have great strokes.

i'd first like to define what "didn't work out for me" means in what is going to follow: it means that with that particular string i was more than uncomfortable FROM THE VERY FIRST STROKE TO THE LAST. in the past few months i've played more than 21 different strings and only the two which will be named below accomplished that feat. the others performed acceptable to very well for a certain period and very few performed well from the first stroke to the last of my time frame of currenntly 8 hours.

the strings that didn't work out are:
- tecnifibre multifeel 1.30
- msv evo 1.25

the strings i currently play with and like very much are mantis power polyester / mantis power synthetic, mantis power polyester / mantis comfort synthetic, kirschbaum competition / isospeed professional.

i put Blackcode18 in a PSL.....worked great.

Put Proline II 18g @52lb........didnt feel NEARLY as good,....no power,...control,...feel,....(compared the blackcode).....Proline II is very popular,....ill try with another stick,...at different tension,....:-?
