Wimbledon 2010 stringing

+1. Doubles, it's one thing to rip on another guy's credibility, and though you are by all means correct, it's another thing to make ripping on others the majority of your posts. Worry less about exposing others and worry more about posting thoughtful, quality, helpful information. I've been looking through your posts, and to say the least, they are less than impressive.

First of all, I have maybe 20-30 posts in which I ripped the guy, to which he fully deserved it. I don't go out of my way to blast any other posters on here because unlike this guy, 99% of them don't deserve it. But seeing as he's been banned I doubt that I'll have to worry about this again, until he creates another account...

Hopefully uk_skippy will come back to this thread and see this. There has been a lot of talk about how Tsonga ditched RPM Blast, and I was just wondering if he had gone back to Lux Alu Power Rough. Also would you be able to give the tension he has his sticks strung at. Thank you very much.

Tsonga get his sticks strung up by Priority1 - not the Wimby stringers so I doubt UK_Skippy could answer what question. I'm sure that RJYU could though :)

Its a tough gig. The hardest days for most stringers is the saturday thru to tuesday of the 1st week. i.e. the couple of day before the tourney starts, and the 1st couple of days. Usual days are around 6:30am until late, 11pm-1am. It eases off during that week, but you're constantly stringing from start to finish.

If you think you're a good stringer (home/shop/pro shop), do it for 16-18 hours a day, then come back and do it the next day, and the next day. Then you'll see if you can handle it.

But it can be enjoyable. The atmosphere with the other stringers, and admin staff is good, and it gets you thru.

No chance of keeping any rqts.

As mentioned, P1 strings for Tsonga, but I do believe he's gone back to ALU rough. Dont know what tension. He is a nice guy though. On a pre-tourny day when Ron was chatting to us in the stringing room, Tsonga came in, said hi and shock hands. Didnt have to do that, but it was nice he did.

Paul, do the players bring their own string? or do you supply + charge them?

Most players bring their own strings and we charge just for the labour. Occasionally we do supply some strings to players if they've run out and their charge accordingly

Thanks for taking the time to post all of this information for us. I had no idea that Tsonga used the guys from P1. Has he always done this, or is this something that he started doing recently?

I think it was from last year. I remember see the Wilson Cobra's being strung then. So I guess maybe later in the year.

Which string did Bernard Tomic use at Wimbledon?
And is his racket the same as retail or a paintjob?
Did you see any paintjob?

I cant be sure, but another stringer has said it was possibly a gut/alu hybrid, but he def uses gut.

His rqt has a TK260.x marking.

Paul, did you have to cut many fresh string jobs outs? Also, did u see what tension Ferrer was playing at?

Generally, the only stringjobs that were cut that obviously not been used wee from the Williams sisters, and maybe a few from Nadal. But in part the players had at least had a few hits with the fresh strings.

The rqts I did for David Ferrer were BB Original @ 23.5/23kg, 2-piece

first off I am not trying to be a bother but it would be "oh right" not "oh rite", secondly i customized federer's a little bit... hope I am not the reason he lost lol and I put the butt caps on soderling's rackets.

I found this post particulary funny considering the so called buttcaps that he put on soderling's sticks do not exist. It is all just one big molded handle that actually looks like it has a grip on it and all. you all know that though i'm sure but i just really got a good laugh from this. haha funny stuff.

The fact is the guy has read and see that Robin used a custom pallet but chose to say those things to get the reaction he did and does, classic attention seeker. All his behavioural signs show that he will come back in another form soon.

We will struggle to get any specs on here as Paul said, they did not weigh any or anything, just string them so we can have those details but we will struggle with weights and balances etc. Could we try and start some kind of log on here, where when sorted from a reliable source, a players info goes on there until proven other wise?

^^^^Not sure. I'm not an expect on Head Pro spec. I'm sure someone knows the ins and outs of the Head marking's on the frame.

From what i have learned on these boards. That code means that he is using an racquet that came from the exact same mold of the Youtek Radical MP, but instead of his having the d3o included with the graphite, his is only graphite. His racquet also has a custom drill pattern, 16x19 instead of 18x20. Hope this helps

But his racket has the white grommets, what shows that it has the d3o

not true. the white grommets are completely irrelevent. The grommets have nothing to do with the racquet layup or anything at all. As long as it is the correct drill pattern. For example. The grommets that fit the prestige and radicals are tk57 i believe so therefore you could put the white grommets on a frame like a pro tour 630 or liquidmetal prestige.

Also like I said in my other post the white grommets make no difference but it's funny you menioned that because his racquets do not even have the white grommets????? Here's pictures from Wimby.

So, has Tomic's racket the same flex as retail, that is 59?
I think no, because he used a Head Extreme, that is something like 66.
So, do you thing he did this big change?

What string brand was the most common?

Also, did you think full bed polyester or hybrids were more common?

I do not know for sure as I don't work at Wimby but I think about 60-70% of the pros these days are using Luxilon. Can't answer the question though.

i would say luxilon was just about the most popular, though babolat were certainly up there as well.

probably over half of the rackets i did were full poly. i only did a few players in full gut. the rest were hybrids

Agree with Jamie. When you looked at the racks of string you mostly saw silver ie ALU Power reels, a few BB original, some hurricane/PHT, not a lot of RPM and some Pacific.

Who is left now in full Gut? Not counting the Williams Sisters.
