Babolat bumper guard?

Can someone explain to me how the Bab bumper guard is designed? I'm thinking about some pure storms and I'm looking at the bumper guard which looks like it will wear out really fast. It appears to be 2 piece? If it is, do I have to buy the entire gromet set to get the bumper guard?

Its an entire grommet set which is a few pieces (I think 5 pieces in total). Putting over the top grommet strip with the bumper is a real pain. You really have to stretch it to make it fit on.

I've never used head tape until I bought my Pure Storm Tours. After a few matches, I realized that the bumper guards are pretty flimsy. I change the head tape everytime I break strings which is about once every 10 days. By that time, there are spots worn through on the head tape but it does keep the bumper guards in tip top shape. I hate replacing the bumper guards, it is a pain in the butt.

My gosh, Babolat bumpers are really weak and flimsy. I thought I was just somewhat harsh on my racquet, but looks like more people have this issue.

It's even worse on clay. Little particles will get underneath the bumper guard and push it up.

I've installed fresh grommets on a couple of different Babolats - don't recall if any were Pure Storms - but it was flat out impossible for me to get the new sets into the frames without a stringer's awl. Now that I've spent the $5, I have one less nightmare to dread.

Agreed, pain in the a** to get them in when I put a new set on a Pure Control. Worst grommets to install by far!

honestly, head tape is a waste. if u use it to keep yur bumper guard pretty, the only thing people see is the messy tape and looks worse than if the guard was scratched.
u cover something up to protect it and make it pretty with another thing that becomes atrociously hideous

I agree have just had to do this on mine and it is a complete pain. There are a couple of grommets on the end of the bumper strip either side that dont want to go in.

Great, now I'm really looking forward to replacing the grommets when the time comes. Maybe I'll pay a stringer to do it!

Wow, thanks guys. At least I know what I'm getting into. Hit again with the PS. So Stable, so solid, so plush, so good serving. Only thing I'm not sure of is the old version or the GT. Maybe I go with one of each.
