Is anyone going to the atp world tour finals this year? I ordered my tickets ages ago but they still haven't arrived I'm assuming they send them out closer to the time or something?

Wow, those are great news. Now the close-down of the old UK thread has something positive at least!
Thank you very much TW.

Not sure if these questions had been asked on the other thread but here goes....

What's your playing style? What grips do you use? 2 or 1 hander? lefty? righty? different styles in doubles and singles? Your strengths? Your weaknesses? Things you want to work on? Favourite players?

That was a lot of questions....

Mine would be counterpuncher who is trying to be more aggressive, semi western forehand, 2 handed backhand. Trying to s and v more in doubles. My strength would be my backhand, I feel it has lots of variety and I can hit well cc and dtl. My weaknesses would be my lack of aggressiveness and long backswing on the forehand (as shown in recent videos). My favourite players are Djoko, Muzza and Gasquet.

I have the best forehand ever, the best two handed backhand ever but I use a one hander to give other people chance.. I can play left and right handed equally as amazing and I am better at singles than I am doubles because in doubles it means I have to play with a partner and they can never be as good as me so I can never play to my true potential and I have a western grip on each side but I can still hit it as flat as an eastern, and my serve is better than karlovic and sampras put together. I do not need to work on anything in my game because I am the best ever and my favourite player is me.

Roger is that you...?

I like to play agressive tennis and try to hit winners or create short angles when possible.
When on my forehand is my best shot and I love hitting it DTL especially in doubles.
My coach tells me I have perfect technique on my OHBH, I reply "why do I miss so fec&in many then?" Although consistently has improved alot lately.
Serve is good, again when on, not the hardest but good variety.
Volleys are decent but still require alot of work.

This is definately not Roger.

I'd like to say that from a technique point of view there isn't much i can't do,(hope thatdoesn't sound too arrogent) however I do have a small tendancy to switch off when playing and so often end up "feeding" opponents.Sadly i have lost count of the amount of times i've walked off court from a league match with my opponent saying "i have no idea how I won that", in a match i played at the start of the summer the oppositions club coach said " you were so consistent and were killing them when you flatened out your shots but your mind wandered". If only it was as easy to corect these problems as it is to see whats wrong, still i have a new book to read about it!
I like to serve volley but i can get lazy and end up playing at the back, which i'm in all honesty not as good at!

I stand about 5-10 behind the baseline and stay there lol. I do come in of the wrong shots and am working on that. I hit a heavy backhand that's getting better every hit, feel more comfortable on that wing that my forehand sometimes. Forhand is a loopy swing, hit through the ball with a fair bit of spin and create natural angles. Struggling with serve at the min that is killing me. When I was coaching in the states a few years ago I would hit 100-200 serves a day was looking good but this year I've not played so much and its crashing! Taking the ball to low, not using any of my natural power from my legs, needs a few lessons.

Untill i eased up on the coaching and playing i never truely appreciated how much easier my serve was untill i wasn't doing it so often and i was double faulting through lazy legs, not getting after the ball etc.Where'd u teach in the US?

I could do with some tennis ball advice. At the beginning of summer I bought a case of Penn tennis balls - although the initial outlay seemed fairly large I could see that over the course of the summer it would make excellent financial sense (no more trips to and from the sports store = petrol savings). Anyway, I have almost used up the Penn balls now and although I liked their firmness and high bounce I know that a lot of people don't and some find that they can inflame arm issues. As I play with a vast array of people I am looking to buy a box of balls that is going to appeal to most players. For durability reasons I have ruled out Slazenger balls (over hyped and overpriced) and for the aforementioned reasons Penn balls. Now, my club has, on the back of advice from our club Pro, decided that Head balls will be bought for next seasons matches and I have always enjoyed playing with this brand when someone has produced them from their bag. So at the moment I am leaning towards Head. However I would like some recommendations off of you guys. (And bare in mind that I'm a student without a bottomless pit of pesos)

Me and my mate love the US Open and Aussie Open balls dude, hold up well on hard courts. The Head ATP ball is a good ball though

My favourite are Slazenger, the best by far in my opinion.
But yeah, US Open are great for hardcourts, Head play nice too!

Head tennis balls are penn tennis balls, the two companies hve always been one so the Penn ATP ball is the Head ATP ball. The idea to rebrand Penn came from the fact that the Head brand was much bigger around Europe.

Ash

P.S personally, in your position, I'd go for the Head Championship - decent ball for a decent budget.

Of course, explains why penn ones aren't around much now then!

playing this afternoon. going to string up a set of polyfibre cobra. interestingly, polyfibre recommends you string their polyesters 2-4 lbs tighter than normal

Playing mainly on clay in Duesseldorf Jazar? Do you find this has a detrimental effect on string durability?

^^^^not clay anymore. indoor carpet. clay courts are closed til march. string durability isnt an issue for me whatever surface i play on because i only use strings for two hours before i cut them

Played for the first time in what seems lime ages today and played surprisingly well. Its all about getting the right amount of Chianti in the night before, and then the right amount of espresso in the morning.

It was of course wet and slippery under foot, and chilly until about 10am.

I am hitting with a BLX 6.1 95 18x20. I quite like it.

Does anyone else think the newly discovered monkey from this morning's metro looks like the late Michael Jackson:

Cheers, Orig

The coach at my club plays with those sticks (yellow and black PJ?) he loves them. I had a quick hit with one the other day, felt tinny to me but that's coming from my leaded up AG100 367g, 350SW. Still getting used to it but it has soooooo much plough through when you hit the ball it stays er... hit

Why you selling Orig?

I've got it off of YouTube, but you need a bit of software to help you. I'm using a mac and its called YouTube downloader. There are windows versions out there. It allows you to save video or just soundtracks from youtube.

Realplayer will also allow you to download a youtube video - however it doesn't allow for sound only downloads.

Selling it as I only had one anyway and just bought it out of curiousity (I play with Prestiges at the moment). Having a clear out of the flat as I have a little girl now and her stuff is just overwhelming my small flat!
