Asics Gel Resolution 3?

Oh man...the yellow looks sick (the black and yellow look awesome, too). I'm finally in between shoes, and I was going to get the R2's because they're on sale, but I may hold out until these hit the stores. I've been running in Asics for the past 5 years, and I love them.

Where will these be marketed? Don't think they'll be in the U.S. :(

Actually, I was flipping through the latest Tennis magazine and saw an add for MidW Sports, and it pictured this color along with the new Nike and Adidas shoes for 1/1/10. Based on that ad, I'd say U.S. is a go.

I can't wait and hope they fix the only downfall of the GR2, lack of arch support for people with medium to high arch.

Not trying to be disagreeable, but I have an extremely high arch and have never had trouble in this area with my ASICS.

LOL, I'll likely start noticing that now, though, and will have sore arches after tonight's match. Thanks, buddy. :)

I can't see the youtube video (blocked at work) but is the yellow one the shoe pictured in the Mid_est ad in the latest tennis magazine ? (page 67)...

If you don't have issues, that is great, just don't think about it. :)

I wish I could wear them as they offer great cushioning and are fast on the courts but no matter what custom insole I put in them, they always gave me a sore arch and a painful heel problem. That all went away when I went with the CB 2.3s but willing to give Asics another shot since I love wearing their running shoes plus the shoe just looks awesome.

I checked out tennisdepot where the Black/Pink pic is posted from (thanks cpark), and it gives a weight of 11.9 oz - that's 3 oz lighter than the GR2. I don't think I've worn a shoe under 14 oz. Am I going to like the GR3?

the Yellow/Black look quite a bit like my old Speedstar's they are really growing on me, if they have enough lateral stability I may have to add them to the stable, which for now is essentially all Nike

Lightest tennis shoe there is then? 11 oz is seriously light.

Maybe this is a Badminton shoe, Not tennis shoe. 11.9 oz means there is no leather or plastic. gotta be all thin mesh cloth.

Not true at all.

This weight can easily be attained with both those materials, its just very hard to do with a tennis shoe that needs certain support. The nike mecurial soccer boots are consistently in the 8 oz range using platic and tejin leather.

13.7 - that sounds better. Tdepot must have it wrong. I just realized that the yellow on the tongue is a different shade than the rest of the yellow on those Black/Yellow GR3's. No likey.

You must have weird feet. I have flat feet and I can feel the arches poking in the Asics while the Ballistecs feel really flat with no arch support.

Plastic Fantastic - not!

These shoes better feel amazing cause they look fugly!

Not just that but doesn't match with any shirt, pants or anything I wear. I will feel like a school bus on those shoes.

Not to add that I have the GR2 (white and lime) and my biggest complaint is the mesh is a freaking dust dragger, they got big time dirty in 2 weeks of used.
The court cleaners are happy that I go to their courts since my shoe does their job.

"Hey John, we dont need to clean the court today again...the guy with the GR2 is here."

Well like you said you have flat feet so any arch on the shoe is better than none. For those with high arches, it might still not be enough support.

I wear Asics running shoes for some time and have no problems whatsoever with them so it's definitely something with that particular pair of shoes.

Chris wore those yellow GR3's in one of the Gotta Want it videos I believe. I am not sure though. Might have just been a regular review.

I totally agree with you luke_1983uk, I got these 2 years ago (I am wearing them right now) and they by far the best tennis shoes I ever had. I am being to found a new pair per months but I can't find it (at least here in the US). The Azurri/Silver/White is awesome. Where you got yours? In the UK? Do you know if they ship to the US? I will really appreciate your input.

I just realize those were the Game 3 (thanks VAMOSFERNANDO).
Does anybody knows if they are as good as the Gel Resolution?

^^ I can only compare the Gel Res 2 to the Gel Game 2. IMO the Gel Res 2 are more comfortable and really help to quell my sore feel more then the Gel Game 2s.

I won't play on hard courts with the Games, but I will use them on clay where I think their tread pattern and sole composition is better suited for the surface.

So I anticipate that in the most recent offering, the GR3 will be the Lexus of shoes and GG3 the Toyota of shoes. There is some sacrifice in comfort, but for some, the value will be the the GG3s.

I'm still waiting on the yellow GR3, but I went ahead and got the yellow Gel Game 3. I did take TW's advice and go up 1/2 a size. My past three shoes have been the Barricade 6. I've been playing and coaching for 2 weeks in them, and I'm kinda surprised the GG3 has as much comfort, traction and stability as it does for a $65 shoe. Without a doubt, the GR3 has more tech in it, so I would assume those areas get even better. Two areas in which the Gel Game 3 comes up short: doesn't breathe well and the upper won't support toe draggers. But it comes with a 6 month warranty :)

Thanks for the input. It is well known that you get what you pay for... and that was one of my concerns on getting the GG3. I own 3 pairs of GRs and I am happily married (Who wouldn't with 3 :)). Maybe I will wait until Asics releases new colors.
