Good draw, especially for an indoor event. Some interesting first round matches, and a good deal of interesting potential matches.

Is Murray playing? I thought he was taking some time off after the AO.

Allez Gillou!

I have to wonder why Fed and Djokovic aren't playing this. Don't they want the 2nd seed assured come IW?

Well, so far he's the no. 2 seed ... but don't fire till you see the whites of their eyes! ;) :D

Kohli v Lu w/b a replay of their Toronto 2010 Masters, which was hotly contested ... Kohli won that one without Maclagan as coach, so I gotta believe he'll do it now that he's got a bit more aggressiveness which seems a change with the new coach! :)

Tank you.....Soderling Hasse match seems very interesting. Will Haase play his best and make the upset which is very likely!

If Robin hasn't learned something since his upset by Dolgo, that's definitely likely ... but I'm guessing Soderling will withstand the Hasse assault, particularly b/c of his greater success on indoor hard last year! :)

Davydenko might pull a fast one after getting knocked out early in the Aussie Open, Soderling got a real tricky tie.

Djokovic is having a bit time off after AO but he will probably be back to defend Dubai where it`s expected to see Federer as well
In this one it will be interesting to see in what mindset Murray will be but Soderling is probably the favourite but his draw is pretty tough

That is a ridiculous draw so soon after the AO. Almost Master's level (minus, obviously the Top 3, but still...)

Surprising to see Murray! Though I guess it wouldn't be good for him to wallow in defeat like last year.

Agreed Niff. I could do without the 'tailspin until Wimbledon' response to losing in the AO. He's got a chance to get some confidence and ranking points over the next few months - he should take it.

Davydenko and Soderling are the big favorites here. Maybe Berdych too if he's on.

I'd be shocked if Murray is in this for the win.

My choice for the final win is Soderling. He play his best tennis on the indoor hard courts, and he had more time to recover from the Aussie campaign. And that's why maybe Murray will not have a good run here: not enough time to recover...
But we'll see. Perhaps JW Tsonga, could have a good tournament here, but if he play the final against Sod, the Swede will take the title for sure.

I'll be rooting for Soderling or Simon, but really feel like Murray has a chance if he's in it to win it. He won't pull any punches now that he has realized that the best defense is good offense, so the ball is in his court and he'll step up to the plate since he knows you play to win the game. And more sport clichés . :)

I can see Ferrer reaching the finals if he doesn't have too much prob. against Nieminen. I think he can beat Sod, looking in better form.

I thought Murray might've spat his dummy at not getting a dubs wildcard but he is definitely travelling to Rotterdam this evening - just a short hop over the channel.

This is a great lineup for a 500, there are so many interesting matchups and there are a lot of potential final's id like to see.

Id like to see a Muzza/Davy and Sod/Cilic SF's!!

I thought Murray was injured in the finals....already playing so soon. ?? Wasn't Murray grabbing his upper thigh during the finals saying that it is hurting him. I thought he tweeked it during the semis with Ferrer.??

He's referring to murray's post match conference after the final where he said who wouldn't be playing for several weeks.

That wasn't what he said mate. What he said was he doesn't know when he'd be back. He might be off for some weeks, he might be back next week. The former got reported a lot, the latter a little.

The actual quote was:

"I might not play for a few months, I might feel like playing in a week's time," he said. "It depends. I'll see how I feel."

Yeah but all I'm saying is that, that is what Peterpanda thought after hearing Murray say what you quoted.

Looks like a probable second set TB... Llodra has turned out to be a nightmare matchup for Davy.
