On n'est jamais si bien servi que par soi-même.

Best field of the week, with 3 top-tenners, the last seed being Llodra ranked 22. Last direct acceptance Marchenko ranked 81.

Draw obviously filled with French players ( 8/28 ) plus the players who were in Rotterdam last week and didn't want to travel far.

Glooobis better shows the Raonics and Dolgos of the world! Still I think LLondra loves this place and would look to defend his title!

If Berdych has fully recovered from the flu he should win this title. Otherwise Söderling will claim another one.

Hmm... Gulbis already down a set and a break against Petzschner.

If he loses here, his 4 losses this year will share the same scenario: losing the first set in a TB, then folding in the remaining set(s).

Make it a double break now in the 2nd. Petzschner serving for the match.

That's it. GSM Petzschner 7-6 6-1.

Simon Took out Davydenko. Nice win for him. with US hardcourt season coming up, this is a good sign for Simon, coming back to form. Watch out Roger...

Four straight breaks. Lots of errors. I wouldn't call that awesome.

It's kind of a habit when Gilles is playing. Both he and Davy are better returners than servers.

Anyway, Gilles is likely to go down to his nemesis Youzhny in the next round.

What's the deal with Davy & Gulbis, thay are crashing every tourney's 1R?

It wasn't that, though, in this match. They really were playing poorly those first four games. They started playing better after I said that, though. Well, at least Simon did, Davy was making some bad errors all day.

If Cilic can hold on, it will be a big momentum boost for him. 6-3 1-0 over Berdy.

Söd-Mika on court now.

Robin saved the first BP in the first game of the match.

Second BP saved. And the 3rd as well.

4th BP for Mika.
5th deuce.
6th deuce now.

Robin holds eventually after a 10-min first game.

Awesome pass from Mika to get another BP.

Le Söd holds after saving BP once again. 2-1.

I just love Youzhny's game. It's so different, interesting, he's got variety and most of all, he's a fighter.

Gotta love when he slices a couple of backhands and Cilic is expecting another one, instead he thumps a monster backhand and Cilic just stands in awe.

BP for Cilic, Youzhny erases it with some classy play - wide serve to the ad court and follows it up with a magnificent dropshot.

Argh, that hurt seeing Youzhny going out.

Looking at Sod-Turs now, good match aswell.

What's this ump's name? I kinda like him.

Soderling was almost better in every aspect of the game and with the 1st set Turses chances were pretty much obliberated.
