I watched them. Good serving and some good forehands. Seeing some longer points would be nice, but you guys were hitting pretty hard.

I watched the last one. Your opponent has a very nice 2hbh, especially up the line on the return. Your big serve was bailing you out.

Your serve is still definitely a weapon, but I might have tried to hit the second serve at his body the way he was driving those backhand returns.

Real men move forward:D

In fairness though, that serve. Most pro's would probably want that serve.

There isn't much I can say because I can only see 1/26 of the court...

Alright...

What does this tell you about yourself??
That you would be bagelled by a "tubby" or a "michelin man"

Go practice

You have a nice serve and groundstrokes and by experience I've only seen bigger players who can hit that hard without much movement or rotation. However once in the second set they can no longer hold up this big hitting kind of play.

You have the experience and weapons. I just think that losing just a little bit of weight will help tremendously.

i agree with this. just hitting the gym a lil and tighten up the diet a tad. at your level of play, former futures player 6.0, things like losing wt or adding muscle, changing diet, i guess overall fitness, is what separates the greats from the goods.
roddick lost 15lbs and he flew around the court. fish. novak.

I wouldn't be surprised if that weight is helping generate pace on your serve. With more mass on the trunk, there is more angular momentum (providing you can still rotate it powerfully) to be channeled into the hitting arm.

Taylor Dent's another example.

I always wonder if this theory has any merit... not so much in tennis, but so many chubby guys in golf.... Daly, jimenez, Laura Davis, just to name a few... that mass is actually helping them?

I have never been over 160 lbs, so can't even imagine what it's like.

Nice serving as always. But, you need an opponent who plays at your level who can get more returns in play and produce some interesting rallies. Arche3's suggestion to turn the camera on its side might work if it doesn't cut off your head and feet.

PS: After reading the thread, there seems to be a new crop of TT clowns who feel free to talk smack to a high level player, but, have probably never won a match in their lives.

TMOP, do you have any videos of you playing in your prime? I don't care how bad quality they are, I just think it'd be awesome to see.

I am in support of this theory purely based on my own experience. Whenever i had a few extra pounds on me, my serve was more effective with pace and action. Part of 'operation GetFit' , i worked hard and dropped weight and became really fit. Other aspect of game improved but serve came down a level.

This repeated a few times over the course of last couple years (gaining weight and losing it) and every single time, it showed on serve.

I think it's just me, but I think you need to get yourself a bit more prepared after a serve. Your opponents hitting some down the line shots that you probably could have gotten if you could have split step a bit faster.

Otherwise, nice serves. lol

I agree, this sometimes happens when I play a guy that i know usually cant do anything with my serves.

Momentum is mass * velocity. The more momentum you can channel through your torso (the torso is the "momentum superhighway" in the serve), the faster your arm will swing. You can increase momentum by adding mass, or by adding velocity.

Clearly there is a tradeoff, since more mass is harder to move fast, so there is probably an optimal point at which the tradeoff yields the best momentum. That said, it's certainly true that if you have a heavier torso, you don't need to explode your torso as fast to generate the same pace on your serve.

so tennis monk is right in why taylor dent serves so fast.... it was quite a puzzle to me seeing this guy who appears to be so stiff yet serves so fast.

I never said the guys in the video couldn't play...they're both better than me. Simple fact is, when you are going to have a camera pointing at your ass, you might want to make sure your shorts fit right. :D

i honestly don't see why people like you are trolling posts, this is why many people don't post videos. Would be embarrassing getting beat by someone that you mock though :D

I'm not a troll, you idiot. I've been on the boards a while. the simple fact is a click on this guys video and I see someones butt crack sticking out from their shorts, you BET YOUR 14 YEAR OLD ASS I'm going to make a comment about it. You would think someone his age would be observant enough to realize "hey, maybe I shouldn't post this video, because it's most prominent feature is MY BUTT CRACK."

to be honest I never noticed the butt crack until you pointed out.

you guys pay too much attention to the peripheral stuff (some if it maybe jokes, I know).... but OP is one of the few guys who CAN PLAY and also posted something.. and I for 1, appreciate that.

TMOP,

It looks like we have the same weakness, movement. Great serve and strokes but the movement needs work, alot of work. And buy some bigger shorts.....please.

Funny, I didn't notice the butt crack until you (or someone), brought it up. I guess you have a bit of a butt crack fixation. And the 14 yo ass reference is just downright creepy.

Just come out of the closet and get it over with. You know, we know, its pretty obvious so no need to hide it anymore. Stop living a lie, its ok the world will accept you for who you are and maybe you'll even get a chance to be an actor in Hollywood now, as its in fashion.

....just leave the minors alone.
