paulman, thanks for taking my frame under the the knife yesterday...we'll see how it performs on the court today, but the post surgery specs are pretty much spot on which what i'm looking for...

Twins?

I went back and looked at the convo. We'll blame it on Downs. I think he's the one who slipped in the info.

Sorry I've been AWOL. The month has been consumed with the usual BS...and some old, family business. After my dad's 8-0h party earlier this month, I've embarked on a more formal quest to obtain "Documents of The Past." Birth Certificates, Divorcee Decrees (not mine, mind you!), immigration/naturalization, school transcripts, DD214s and the like. I just realized I/we didn't have all our "stuff" together and we should. Some of the stuff is online and easy; others, not so much: real signatures and notarization required. And at least, the more important it is, the harder it is to reacquire.

But I'll tell you this: color laser photocopies...are scary f*ckin' good...especially on older documents that don't have "built in security features."

The other thing that's impressed me during this adventure, is the quality of old photographs. I suppose I like to think that "digital" is The Way, but the tonal quality of the old, formal portraits is amazing, the paper stock darn near currency-grade.

And, it's given me the opportunity to reconnect with some of the remaining "older" generation. They've willingly and happily spent time identifying people and places in those old photos...and spun a few tales to go with 'em.

My tennis is in its last week of hiatus before opening up the Springtime gates of Season. I'm playing on 3 teams this Spring (only 2 concurrent at any given time) and all are a level "up." Should be some good challenges.

Hope everyone has a great lunch today...and can get in some court time over the weekend.

aq - i've been tasked with creating a photo slideshow video for my pop's 70th birthday. mom just fedexed a box full of old photos that i'm gonna have to scan in one at a time in a flatbed scanner. oh the joy.

downs - in anticipation for possibly pairing up in men's league this year i think we have two possible names for us: team monkeydowns or christ-monkey. also working on a couple of slogans. "you're going down . . . monkey style." it's a work in progress.

Hey sure, no prob Downs! Just glad your frame didn't end up being 23 inches long after our Scotch tasting... haha

Hey! No 'monkeying' around with Downs' frames...he's got a big match tomorrow?

(cripes, the way this season has gone, they are all big matches!)

Calgon!!!

i'm not sure why paulman and downs are getting together and drinking large amounts of scotch and reducing the length of their shafts. i don't ask, don't tell. none of my bidness.

il mee is a buffet. honey pig is a bbq joint. they occupy two different niches. *cue elton john circle of life song*

snip the tips...1/2" trimmed from 2 pure storm tour gt pluses...

IMG_20120329_192009.jpg

2 part epoxy glue to re-apply the buttcap...and to prevent the classic babolat squeak...

IMG_20120329_193032.jpg

let dry and then reapply the synthetic grip...the result, a 27" more maneuverable version of the pure storm tour gt...the alcohol helps too...

how does this differ from buying a pure storm tour gt? you took a tour plus gt and cut it?

good question...pure storm tour gt has a balance of 6 points....but honestly, i think that number is wrong...plays more like 3 or 4 points HL...just clubby and bulky...

the chopped pure storm tour plus, has a balance of about 7 to 8 points HL...same solid feel of the pure storm tour, but WAY WAY more maneuverable...

so you made a Babolat Pure Storm Tour GT Downs Syndrome Limited with 200% more Unobtanium (tm).

well played downs. i too can cut my sticks and make them more maneuverable. sapient - come over tonight. i got a bottle of mad dog 20/20 and a hacksaw.

hahaahaha. actually we should hit soon paulman. it really sounds like you made a pure storm limited with an open string pattern. those limiteds are really nice but dense string pattern. hopefully there's enough mass in the hoop with the modified ones for downs to crush groundies and serves.

Il Mee vs. Honey Pig.

Discuss.

That's like Dr. Jerkyl vs Mr. Hide. But another choice you should look at for KBBQ buffet is Heebeen. The difference between Il Mee and Heebeen:
Sushi is better at Heebeen
Seafood for BBQ at Heebeen
Shabu Shabu is available at Heebeen
Better cuts of beef at Heebeen (including fatty rib eye for BBQ)
Much cleaner at Heebeen.
Cooked food is slightly better at Heebeen (they have grilled ribeye there... droool...)
But at Il Mee, you can be cool, young, and hip by hanging out at the Stella's Bakery across the restaurant there vs shady looking side at Springfield (although it's relatively safe there).
Price is $6 more at Heebeen ($29) vs ($22) at Il Mee.

$15 lunch at hee been but i wasn't totally blown away.. they must bring out the really good stuff for the $28 dinner.

il mee has ice cream machine. nom nom. pretty cheap too on weeknights.

han sung oak is good but $$$ and not ayce

yechon is decent and $$ and fun to go to drunk

lighthouse is good if you want seafood pancakes and soondubu and $

i actually dont get the honey pig craze cuz it is just meat served in a stainless steel garage to me..., but i have chowed down when ive gone and i do own a shirt. i am opening a new branch called honey badger... it will pZownZ!

For sure tm - let's hit! Now that I think my knee can handle a lil bit of tennis.

It's weird but the chopped frames are actually more solid/stable while still being more maneuverable than his usual Pure Storm GTs. There should be more than enough plow-through mass. If anything there'll be more Downs' crushed groundies and serves!

no. just an empty stomach and a nose as sharp as your slice. =)
great.. the korean mofia is after me. I'll have a bowl of pho ready for them.

Worst thing about KBBQ is that I have the smell that wild dogs will come chasing after me. Never bring your best threads while going.

just came home from an MRI on my ankle.

Does anyone know MRInese? I have images of my ankle but don't know what it means? No wonder docs make all the $$$.

whatever it was the tech kept hush. I have a feeling I have a tear.

You didn't receive a written report as well?

Sometimes techs can't talk to you about it, doesn't mean it is good or bad. Assessment of the image is not part of the their responsibility, and they can get in big trouble if they tell you something and they are wrong.

Do you have a follow up with the doc?

thx topaz. I got a CD of the img. I haven't tried to open it yet.
followup is next week. doc says if its a tear it'll need 3 more weeks.

To all my Korean hookups: where can I find hite beer around rockville? I just brought a couple pkgs of very good pork belly. I am going to get some kaibi morrow. must find some Korean bud...

Here's yet another choice for you hard-hitters planning to visit Elvisland:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/196329007148319/

I can see a team of HW, Sup, PP, Schmad and JRK, if he's still tinkering with tennis. You could show these country rednecks how to grip and rip.

BTW, watched a little of a big meet between traditional black colleges - Tuskegee, Moorehouse State, Albany State, etc. - at this site today. Saw some pretty good tennis.
