It is pretty simple. You can call in with what you would like to trade in and we will provide you with a trade in value on your racquets based off what they are and the condition they are in.

From what I heard the price offered is typically lower than going rated in classified section. The prices of used selling are also typically higher than on classified.
Overall, I would say it is a good thing for every one but it would not impact the classified section very much.

What could I get for a condition 7 out of 10 EXO 93 graphite? ONe of mine does not flex like the others, so I could part with her. What would its value be to you, ballpark estimate, roughly $40- or higher?

Can I assume the trade in would be for value toward a new racquet from TW? This is pretty darn awesome.

I also don't think this will affect the for sale section much. It's just another option if you don't really want to wait or deal with the possibility of getting ripped off.

Typically, this is how it works:

1. you get cca. 30%-40% less than current market value
2. you get store credit you could use towards future purchases
3. credit doesn't expire
4. they donate racquets

I'm guessing b/c they want to cut down the avalanche of posts asking "what's my racket worth" and also they probably have to assign some sort of tracking system so they can keep track of what trade-in value they gave to whom.
I would also say it's pretty safe to say that any trade-in value would be towards the purchase of a new racket from TW rather than cash to the seller. Otherwise they would be in the business of "buying" used rackets without any incentive for the person trading in to spend the money back with TW (and I see no logic in that).

Is this a one-for-one offer? Or a many-for-one?

In other words, lets say I have 3 Volkl C10 Pros sitting around. For the sake of argument, lets say their trade-in value is $50. Can I trade in all 3 of my C10 Pros + $29 for 1 Pacific X-Force Pro? Or do I have to buy 3 X-Force Pros?

Hypothetically, of course...

The same thread was posted in the FS/FT section. I received an answer to basically your same question. Basically they are indeed going to resell them. Check the thread for a detailed response from customer service. Hope this helps

Anyone call yet and test it out? Also, you think they'll take older racquets? I have a Yonex RDX 500 MS lying around I don't use.

Sorry for the late response, I've had a busy day of meetings and video reviews.

This is available to US customers only.
As posted in this thread, you get TW credit you can apply to anything so you can trade in for new racquets, shoes, strings or whatever. You can apply your credit to one racquet or multiple items, your choice.
We will sell on the trade in racquets as used racquets.

Here is the grade scale we are using for used racquets:
Grade A - Racquet is very nearly new or shows very light wear.
Grade B - Racquet has been used and shows some minor cosmetic wear. Bumper guard is in very good condition (may be scuffed but not compromised). Grip may be slightly worn. Grommets are in good condition but may be slightly stretched.
Grade C - Racquet has noticeable paint damage and the grip shows considerable wear. Grommets show wear and/or multiple string jobs. Bumper guard shows medium wear.
Grade D - Racquet is in used and OK condition. While the racquet is playable, there is noticeable wear of the bumper guard, paint, grip, and grommets. Frame might show some graphite but is still playable.
Grade F - Racquet is in poor condition and shows abundant wear. The cosmetic damage is through to the graphite. Paint chips, cracks, and wear are very noticeable. Bumper guard is worn through to the graphite in multiple areas. Grommets are cracked or worn through and need replacement.

Very interesting! I'll probably be taking advantage of this service in the future. I'm afraid that most of my racquets might fall under C or D condition though :(

Hello Chris,
A simple question:

So we ship the racquet out to tw first, they inspect it, grade it, then we get a credit in the form of a password,username or email?

Klementine79, please contact our customer service department via phone before sending in any racquets. A representative will walk you through the process and provide you with a grade for each racquet you want to trade in and also assign a value to each racquet being sent in.

Then you will send in the racquet(s) for evaluation and if the racquets meet (or exceed) the expected condition, then we will contact you with your credit. Rest assured if a racquet is graded via phone but assessed to have a better than expected condition, we will increase the credit issued to you to match the condition the racquet is in.

Unfortunately at the time, we are unable to accept pro stock racquets, racquets with permanent modifications or racquets that were intended for specific international markets; i.e. Asian Wilson Tour 90 Racquets.

Racquets that are being accepted are relatively current model racquets (racquets that we have sold within the past few years) that are in playable condition. No cracks or broken racquets, or racquets that have been out of our system for too long.

If you're curious, don't hesitate to call our customer service department to inquire.

I don't think you implement a system that eats costs if the return is a "donation." That is a recipe for losing revenue.

I bet you they start selling them on the bay under their LLC name and that way they can convert store credit directly into money. For some reason store credit is given because that is a turnover stock. It's a good that has already been itemized. They can easily liquidize any store credit into actual money. Store credit is lesser value to them because it's something that has already been spent.

The thing is, if you're (you as a business) are selling just brand new items, you are really catering to only half the potential and really ignoring the market for those who wish to buy used items. If you can make a profit that is a fraction of the profit made from selling a new item, you could profit more just by selling a few more used items. Anyways, there's people who are more interested in JUST buying a used item and have no interest in actually ever purchasing a new item. If that's the case, then you're missing out on all those potential customers. Which makes sense for them to start selling used items other than just moving out their demo stock.

IT is not JUST about revenue when you run well established business. Brand recognition/awareness, local community support and other softies are MUCH more important in long run...

From strictly cash flow point of view this could be a good idea. TW needs volumes tho.

1) TW gets racquets for less than MV and sell them for profit
2) they give store credits which is basically iou backed up by reputation
3) you use credits to buy stuff and TW makes monies again (markup)

the seller pays for shipping.

saves us a lot of time and hassle of selling. and remember, PayPal takes a 5% cut on whatever the transaction value.
so great service TW provides.
