History repeating?

Similarities between 2009 and 2012 clay season:
Monte Carlo Final: Rafale Nadal def. Djokovic
Madrid Final: Federer won.
Rome Final: Rafael Nadal def. Djokovic.

I never took you for a superstitious person.

Pigs will fly when Fed wins another RG, if that's where you are getting at.

Well, I guess Fed is a lock for RG then. :)

Haha good one.

Federer beat Nadal on clay that year. Also, lets just ignore the fact that Nadal straight setted Djokovic in both matches this year, while in 09 it took a 3 set match in MC and a 4 hour 3 setter in Madrid to beat a completely inconsistent Djokovic

Lets be realistic though, Djokovic was playing extremely well during the warmups that year, and the madrid semi had a very negative impact on him.

The Madrid semi in 09 had a bad impact on both Nadal and Djokovic. They were both mediocre for months after that... Nadal more so than Nole... They both gave more than their all in that match. I think losing the final against Fed was the extra wear on Rafa's body that destroyed the rest of his '09 until clay '10. Rafa was horrible during that stretch...

LOL at history rubbish. Just relook at the tennis Soderling played against Nadal in RG 09. He painted the lines with heavy shots for about 4 hours. Nadal was not at his best defensively.

Now to expect someone to repeat that performance this year, is just wishful thinking. Won't happen.

And Rafa has pink shoes again.

Not just shoes, I think the outfit is also going to be pink.

I thought Nadal was the superstitious type going by his obsession with his on-court 'routines'. Surprised he chose to wear pink again at RG after what happened in 2009. But not to worry, looking at his draw, things should go smooth for him this time.

Federer has to man up and get dirty to stand a chance against Nadal. Even if he produces his best using his current tactics, he cannot beat Nadal at RG.

This, frankly there are more differences than similarities.

So why get dirty if you cannot beat Nadal anyway?

He means Fed (or anyone) needs to change his tactics to 'dirty' tactics in order to have a chance.

Nadal is hypocritical in that he makes his living moonballing to people's backhands, yet his own backhand doesn't handle the high ball particularly well.

Someone needs to give the pig a taste of his own medicine and abuse his backhand - hit every serve kicking up to it, every forehand moonballed to it, every backhand looped back down the line to it, every volley goes back to his backhand...etc...

I would pay good money to see someone abuse Nadal like that.

However no-one will. we might as well not play the tournament - hand the title to Nadal - he will not lose a set (he probably won't lose a point).

I think the fact that those results did occur, makes it impossible for Nadal to lose at Roland Garros. History never repeats itself to that extent.
