In the matches I've seen recently he's been extremely powerful off it, if a little less consistant than on the forehand.

Sigh...When will people realize that the "backhand" includes the slice as well.

Just because it's compared to his forehand people assume Fed's backhand is weak, his great topspin BH (yes it's shaky at times, but at Wimbledon it was solid all the way through) combined with his incredibly accurate and hard to play slice lead to a brutal combo...his backhand was the key to him winning Wimbledon, the mixture of slice and topspin make it hard to play against, when he gets that slice going on low bouncing courts, it causes all sorts of problems for all players.

Nadal at number 4?

Nadal's BH ahead of Fed's? You gotta be kidding.

In terms of how he plays off that wing, he would slot in the list right behind Djokovic. Murray's is good but way too inconsistent still, and no variation.

Look how Djokovic tries to break it down.

Verdasco has to be at least 7 and Berdych has a better forehand than Djokovic. David Ferrer's forehand has no bite, just consistent and has placement. In the backhand sections where the heck is Wawrinka and Gasquet?

Federer's backhand in full flight is much better than Nadal's, I'd only rate Djokovic and Murray's backhand higher. Funny how it's always underrated on TTW, you think the GOAT of tennis would have a worse backhand than Ferrer or Almagro?

In the forehand section Cilic and Isner do not deserve to be in the top 10, everything else seems fine. In the backhand section Nadal's backhand is less than Gasquet and Federer, Tipsarevic's backhand isn't that great, replace him with Nalbandian. Also remove Tsonga from the top 10 backhand section, he doesn't trust his 2hbh so he hits 1hbh on the run sometimes, shows self doubt in the shot.

I agree with the Nadal- Gasquet part. should be replaced. Not with Fed-Nad tho.

It's about the "current" performances, which is why Cilic definately deserves to be in the Top10. Same goes for Isner.

Wow didn't notice Tsonga in my list. Forgot that one. So they all move up a spot.

Best list so far...Although Raonic's forehand looked awful at Wimbledon, his technique doesn't allow to get under low balls.

Right now I'd put Fed's backhand at #1, he won so many points off it against Djokovic & Murray.

Not #1 but in the top 3 presently, what most people don't understand is that the only things that effect Federer's backhand are high bouncing balls past shoulder height and ball bashing to his backhand. He might shank a few times against normal shots, but he is getting up there in the age and his footwork and concentration is declining.

Im a Rafa fan but his BH is certainly not top 10 ATLEAST now. At AO 2009 it looked top 5 these days its pretty much an average rally shot.

Federer has the best forehand and Djoker the best backhand...that's all I'm sure of.. Nadal's pretty high in both though...his combined ground game is similar to Djokovic's

Murray's crosscourt forehand is insane and almost worthy of getting him into the top10 by itself, it's just a shame his forehand down-the-line lets him down too often.

I think Federer's backhand is third only to Djokovic and Murray's. I also think Nadal's FH is better than Federer's. But Nadal's "current" BH should not even be in the discussion. I was watching highlights of Agassi vs Nadal from Wimby 06 and even then his BH, that peaked by 2009 actually, was so much more potent than what it is now. Today, that BH is really just a mere push back. Unbelievable decline for Rafa, who needs that BH back to its best to win non-clay slams again.
