Best all-around racket?

Best overall? My vote would be the BLX Blade 98. After that my vote would go for something like the 6.1 Team by Wilson. Just a solid jack of all trades.

The Pure Storm is a wicked one as well.

To be honest, there aren't really any frames that are bad at anything, most are just optimized for different things! :)

Really? You put that piece of junk in there? Not the K90? Not the BLX PS 90?

I'll admit, I've switched to using that as my racket (because I want something lighter than a leaded up K90 and for now it's all I have and it's performing well), but the lack of feel really kills it for me. I feel like the K90 is a better all around racket, as is the BLX PS 90.

Honestly I want to say the Pure Drive... I don't like it for one handed backhands, but I know a player much better than me who used it as his main racket to hit them (before he switched to Donnay), and there's Ljubicic as well.

It's great at the baseline. There's no real reason for it to not be good at net. It's great on serve...

The nSix.One 95 is really good too. Lots of control, reasonable pop, good feel.

The [K]Six.One 95 18x20 might not be a bad racket either.

If it's your cup of tea, then the Prestige Classic 600, the Prince Original Graphite (either size), the [K]Six.One Tour and the BLX ProStaff 90 are also good. The ProStaff 6.0 85 is good too, but I feel like it's a bit small. I look at it, and it feels tiny, even compared to my 90. But when I hit with it, I don't notice a difference except in the feel.

Best all-round...hmmm

For me - Toss up between the PS 6.0 95 Original, the Radical Bumblebee and the PT630.

Don't need too much help generating power or spin so they all work/worked well for me.

Think it depends on how I feel/type of game I'm playing.

Playing a more attacking all-court game, I'd shade it to the Prostaff but if I'm staying back more - the Radical or Pro Tour.

I play an all-round game, which includes serve and volley. I prefer trading groundies, as this racquet generates lots of spin and depth. But it helps produce big kick serves and begets some easy returns for serving & volleying. Despite its stiffness, it is a very comfortable racquet due to the new grommets system.

It's a bit heavy for some folks but it feels lighter and more maneuverable than my previous racquet - BLX Six-One 95 (2012)

Hey this is a great Question,

I have used a heap of Frames over the past couple of years and 2 frames stand out to me. 2012 Pure Drive and BLX Blade 98. I think these 2 frames fit the bill for about 90% of players out there. Loving some of the responses to this question as it can be so subjective.

I wasn't even playing when those rackets were out. I didn't start playing until my freshman year late 2008 and hadn't bought my first racket until late 2009.
theres no way those could be on my list if i never played with them, right?

For me, anything with a midsize head and the right string job to go with it.

So, essentially, the strings matter more.

I've recently moved on to the PK Ki5 315. It does everything I need and well, but doesn't excel in any one area except arm friendliness. I find it to be the perfect balance between power and control, plays great at the baseline and at the net, serves great, hits a ton of topspin when I need it, and so on. It just works.

The [K]Six.One Tour was still being sold in 2009 (at clearance as well), you have no such excuse if you could've got your hands on one.

Try the BLX ProStaff 90, and you'll know what it feels like to hit the ball. It plays a bit lower powered compared to the BLX and [K]Factor, but it's great at net.

My budget isn't exactly very roomy right now but i have hit with my coaches N6-1 90, but only hit so i can't say much for it other than it was solid but lighter than i was expecting it to be(either bad wilson QC or my genetics:)).

I wonder if I would frame everything with a 90... I demoed the new one and loved it but only hit from the baseline

No you won't frame a lot more, the difference between 90, 95 or even 98 is minimal ... however most 90's are a lot heavier so you will reduce your swingspeed and make more errors because you're late ... you have to prepare earlier and adapt your footwork

Doesn't it have a sw of like 326? That's not bad at all! I remember I liked the weight. It felt just kinda alien because I'm so used to light rackets

....what he is saying is unless you are a 5.0 or better.. you will have problems 1) Getting the racket in position 2) Be late most of the time 3) Miss the sweetspot most of the time 4) Not have much fun and lose to the same players you used to beat. Stick with a 100 Head Size and enjoy the game.

Good Luck...

Haha ok I will take your word for it

I love playing around a bit with 90...but the bottom line is the sweetpot is very small. If you hit it just right...butter and what a feeling. Be just outside that tiny sweetpot....Yikes.. no power and you are hitting a sitter for the other guy. I love serving with a players frame...wow the power and heavy serve is out of this world. You really have to be good enought to play with these frame. TW goes out of its way to post a USTA rating min with each frame.. they do it for some reason??? There are some very good players on Talk Tennis... so you need to know that before you take advice

you will adapt to the smaller head size if you play with it regularly. Some people will like it, and some will prefer something bigger.

Only if you have the skill set to adapt...
my regular racquet is 90 sq-in. One day, I decided to take the oversize 107 sq-in racquet to the tennis courts because i had not used that racquet for a long time. Wow, it was so much easier to hit the volleys and overheads :)
