Man , really feel for you. I was near New Orleans when Katrina hit and that was humbling ( understatement).
These storms are plenty in themselves and even worse with that extra heat thats amping weather up.
The people with leverage in these issues should take charge and rein in unnecessary dangerous practises that hit us all much too hard.
Bloomberg seeems to be trying!
I know, all this extra heat is really warming up those in West Virginia that got 2 feet of snow from the storm. They are swimming naked and whistling Dixie.
Sounds like you are unsure about your position on anthropogenic global warming.
Feel totally free to ask anything on the issue and i am going to do my best to answer. I have substantial knowledge as i studied climatology and economics.
That is off topic. Feel free to ask me about the issue at hand.
10 days out and still no power for 100,000's, gas rationing in two states and profiteers selling gas for $30/gal on the Internet? WTF, we are a third-world nation!

the Northeast wasn't as prepared for hurricanes like battered FL. think there are state laws prohibiting gouging in FL. during the 2004 season, my hood was without power for a week and others even more. clean up needs to be done before turning on the power so as not to accidentally electrocute.
I've seen no profiteering by gas station. don't know how you can buy gas on the internet. Craiglist? If somebody waited in line and re-sell gas, they can charge whatever they want.
However, all my local gas stations have been selling gas, when they have them, at same prices as before Sandy.
Sounds like ýou live in a socialistic place.
Scarce resource + high demand should equal increased prices .
think dennis is being sarcastic...at least that's how i read it.
anyway here's the FL law if interested.

Your issues are not on topic. Let me get to the point. Do you have real life work experience in climatology versus just education? If you don't want to answer for privacy reasons, then I understand.
Yes i do.
I have access to the latest in observations and peer reviewed state of the art
understanding of the processes of climate. Aka climatology.
I and my family have real life interaction with it and that has enabled me to see firsthand consequences and mitigation in places like New York, Shanghai, Masdar City, Amsterdam,Oslo,Copenhagen and Kairo.
The Germans and the Dutch are particularly ahead on these issues and city and business planning increasingly are influenced by the reality of the issue.
Freiburg in Germany and Venlo in Holland are cities that are good examples.
There are good examples of cooperation between the scientific and the fossil fuel industries in Norway.
What real life work and education experience of climatology do you have that makes you feel you are able to assess the situation?
Is this another way of saying you know a climatologist?

Could you share your findings with the group?
'The group'?
OK, just with me.
Nice gratitude by a random NY bozo...a visiting electrical lineman from Florida was jumped and beaten as he was getting out of his power truck; broken jaw, nose and skull fractures. So much for trying to pay back the help we got from all our storms!

Italy is now currently awash.
No. Is this a another way of pretending you know better?
"Know better"? Knowledge, through misinterpretation or without proper application is useless (or worse).
Are you claiming some worthwhile knowledge?
Seriously though, what do you want to know?
What do you already know and from where do you get most of your information that you base your understanding on ?
Start from the beginning. I know nearly nothing. I get my (mis)information from rumor and innuendo.
Thats a tall order.
What is the little then that you have in fact gathered so far?
That warming/cooling happens in cycles, but the current warming cycle is more dramatic than anything in the past, so there must be a component of warming attributable to man's greenhouse gas emissions. How much is not known.
I also understand the current levels are not alarming, but if the trend continues, we could be in trouble a few decades down the road, at which point it will be very hard to reverse.
Did a wellknown film back in 2006 called 'An inconvinent Truth' predict what could be the scenario in Manhattan in case of rising waters?
I am proclaiming right now there will be future natural disasters. You heard it here first.
Nope, prominent meteorologists have warned the Northeast was overdue for a big storm.
