Hey guys.

Just a quickie to say hello. I've been a voracious reader of the TTW boards for about 18 months, but this is my first post.

Have been a fan of tennis for about six years now, but the last 18 months is when I've really started intensely following the ATP tour week to week. I think this transition was enabled, in large part, by access to the history, insight and range of opinions shared by the TTW community at large. So my first act as a poster ought to be one of gratitude and acknowledgement to everyone.

I've come to know and respect a number of you in the last year and a half. This is the internet guys, and you all knew that when you started posting. So it should only sound moderately creepy if I say in some cases I even think of you as friends: Batz, McEnroeisanartist, Mustard, Towser come to mind, in no particular order.

Anyway I live in the UK, am studying for a PhD in Economics. My allegiance is to the guy with the elegant strokes. (As a greater man than I once said in a greater thread than I will ever create.) My first sporting passion in life was test cricket, but at various times I have also closely followed baseball and American football.

So yeah, that's that. See you guys around.

Hi!

Great to have a new guy around and even better that you've started following tennis more seriously recently.

Hope you'll enjoy your stay on these boards!

Go ahead and put this guy on ignore and save yourself the headache. Welcome to the forum, as you can tell by posts like this, it's not all fun and games.

Thank you sir! I take it you are a long term fan, given your characterization of my humble 18 month long serious fandom as being recent!!

That man would be your esteemed self, and the thread would be your magnum opus from 3 years ago. Its hard to hang around the boards without reading about it.

I will add to your credit that I thought you were very gracious about RF once he won the silver. It takes a big man to do that. Pleasure to finally meet you!

Who was the greater man?

Unlikely my friend. I do applied micro - which is the furthest thing from being able to predict the economy. (Not that the macro guys do a much better job of it.)

I hope you do a good job of predicting the economy when you get the degree.

Thanks for sticking up for me!

Although, to play devil's advocate against myself, I did claim to have been hanging around the boards for 18 months. One could reasonably argue I should have known.

Anyway, you only introduce yourself once right? :)

This is his first post, he was politely introduced himself, you could forgive him this time :)

On that note, and this may or may not be a popular opinion, but I really enjoy a lot of the posts by the super Nadal fans NSK, 636160, Rafa2005RG, NadalWon2012, Bullz1lla etc.

I may not always agree with their conclusions, or share their allegiances; but variety in view points engenders a more complete discussion in any community. They certainly tend to provide a unique perspective and food for thought.

I can safely say I have learned a lot from reading their discussions with other folks. I certainly know more about Nadal than I would otherwise, being a Fed fan.

NSk has no forgiveness.

If you are from Sweden like Rock Strongo, you either started following tennis a long time ago, or you won't follow tennis at all. Don't see how you could start NOW ;)

Ha. I've never really posted on online forums before this. So at the moment I can't quite imagine getting enraged at a completely anonymous correspondent over the internet.

(It's only a matter of time before this post makes me eat copious quantities of crow. And yes, you can feel free to bump the above when I get banned for uttering foul obscenities!)

Go ahead and put this guy on ignore and save yourself the headache. Welcome to the forum, as you can tell by posts like this, it's not all fun and games.

Hello to you too! As I told Jokinla it may only be a matter of time before my shy and tentative online personality mean reverts and comes to reflect my perfectly ordinary and impolite real world persona.

Well hi there :) Always good to see a nice and polite poster on TTW.

Well... Let's just say that those users have something in common.

Welcome.

Yes correct. Where you from? The Guy with the elegant strokes is planning to be there, so if hè follows through it should be great.

Like your post especially the part in bold. Welcome aboard the Federer Warehouse:). Love Fed, hate on Nads and you'll have a lot of friends here, trollolol

1-3-0 is a bitter tool. Clearly your positive reference to Fed has upset the poor bas%#@*
