OMG, the Seinfeld stuff is cracking me up.

So, we lost in the semis. In a f*cking tiebreak. To the team that won it

We are women, so we are more adept at breaking than holding...lots of breaks, and we lost a tight first set 4-6.

F*cking TBs!!!!!!

Downs...again, you played lights out tennis in the final. Well done!

SPECIAL THANKS to AQ!!!!:(

Topaz, tough loss. I hate knowing my match is the deciding match.

downs, will the MD team ask you to come along since you declared for the VA team? Are they vindictive like that? Or would they rather win?

On a side note, these Seinfeld references remind me of a situation 22 years ago:

I planning on quitting my job at the end of the summer and move back home to return to school. My company got word of it, and they approached me with a deal: They were planning layoffs, and asked if I would be open to leaving in May and taking the layoff instead of quitting. I took it and moved home earlier than planned.

As a result, I was able to take summer courses to fill in some gaps. So, I had two 4-week sessions that ran from 8-12. But since I was laid off, I was receiving unemployment benefits and didn't have to work over the summer. So, after class was finished, I had the whole day to hang out.

All I did that summer was play tennis, go water skiing, and hit the beach. I will forever refer to that time as "The Summer of Dan"...

I have never seen Seinfeld or Friends either. I'm not getting any of these references.

Side story...

When I first joined the Navy I was in the galley in line to get some food. One of the cooks sees the name on my uniform and says "Hey, Kramer vs. Kramer..."

I just smiled at him. I had no f***ing idea what he was talking about.

i had a summer like that once...got laid...off...then didn't work again for 8 months...it was the best thing ever...seriously, i had my ice cream truck then, and worked when i need some cash...played a lot of golf then...good times..

McLovin, luckily i'm good friends with a lot of people on that team...so i got an email welcoming me back! i'm excited for indian wells!! i think their super ringer 4.0 is self-rated, and there might be a weird rule about the self-rated people who got bumped up, have to play at their new level? so he would have to play the 4.5 court, or something...i'm not exactly sure...either way, it should be fun!

what's for lunch people? is there snow this friday? why is it so cold out?

Never watched Friends a ton. Just seemed a little dumb for my tastes.

Have seen some Seinfelds. The early ones sucked that showed the little stand up segments with jerry. I dont like his stand up at all. But the Kramer and George characters made that show for me.

But Curb is way batter than seinfeld could ever be. Mainly becuase I like cuss words.

JRK,

thanks for the link with Dieondra Sanders BBall league. I dont know what to think about it though.

I still wont watch it. I mena the WNBA is bad enough to watch, but know It will be basketball by even less talented players than WNBA has. I dont think the bikinis will save it.

Like JRK, I get none of these Seinfeld and Friends references...haha

Downs, lucky you rat ba$****!!! haha Congrats dude! Have fun.

TM, how did Sea Bass do in Tri Level?

Topaz, so sorry you guys just missed out - so close! Didn't your mixed dubs partner play Tri Level too - how'd it go for him?

My mixed dubs partner did well. Despite losing to Downs on the 4.0 court in the final, the team he co-captained won the whole thing. ;)

Ironic. My former mixed dubs partner was on the 4.5 court for the men, and on the wrong side of that TB.

F*cking TBs.

well, just bought some fischer boots. hopefully they are as good as their racquets.

I bought a pair of Solomon ~ 15 years ago. At the time, they were their top-of-the-line boots, but I got them at the end of the year so they were 50% off (still cost ~ $400).

While I've changed skis 3 times now, I still have & wear the Solomons today. Bottom line: It pays to get the good stuff when it comes to ski boots.

i'm retiring my salomon boots from yr 2000. the liners are packed out and my feet is wiggling too much. i never liked the heel support of that boot but breaking down boots is a painful process. i'm not looking forward to another season of agony. planning on reusing my footbed and maybe get an intuition liner for the new boot. been to ski charlet in VA a couple of times already trying on boots.

sappy! i'm going to big sky next week...where are you headed this winter?

dry this year. cancelled my trip to col for V day. i'm waiting for late march, april time frame to book again. most likely utah... but everything is open. i'll just go to where they have a good base.

Efff... it's cold enough to blow your own snow in DC. Just put a ski lift on Capitol hill.

Looks like it was a freaking traffic apocalypse this morning. 270 shut down for a bit, part of 495 blocked and I swore I heard something about brush fires near rt. 66. Finally, a day where metro was plan "A".

Speaking of cold. Talked to conejo. He got hitched on the beach down here. Met his now wife when they first started dating. He envys the warm south florida sunshine and is trying to move down here.

Any chance you can make the Sony this year? Have a second bedroom and possibly a back stage pass so you can meet Serena.

Yeah, the Conejo said your Florida sales pitch was quite convincing!

Make Sony? LOL! I'm lucky to make my tennis clinic once a week.

Sup2DResq Customization

I am proud to announce that 1st Service Tennis has been commissioned to do customization racquet work for Sup2Dresq. The stock frame is on order and the process from beginning to end will be documented here (including pictures). The first step with all VIP clients is to create their own drawer.

looks like a reel of OG sheep micro 17s. PSOG.. maybe a pack of Tecnifibre LOGGST in 17

The contract states my shelf should be filled with only alcohol and slim Jim's. I'm not sure why those strings are there.

But if I do string, after a dos xx, I string with Alu power rough.

Put my order in for some demos:
  1. Yonex VCORE 97 (310g)
  2. Yonex VCORE 97 (330g)
  3. Donnay Pro One 97 (16x19)
  4. Dunlop F3.0 Tour

I'm really looking forward to the Yonex frames. The others are just to fill out the 4 racquet order. Anyone have any Yonex contacts? If I like them, it will be real hard to change given the deal I can get on Pacific frames.

downs, if you have any interest in hitting w/ any of these, let me know & we can setup a hit when they come in (scheduled for Feb 1). Of course, if you want to hit before that, I'm game as well.

Depends. Are we talking Stan vs Djokovic from the other night? Or Stan vs Djokovic from 2012 US Open?

Honestly, I prefer NOT to customize frames, so I want to try the lighter version alongside the heavier version & see what I think. Heavier frames are usually my preference, but if the 330g is too heavy, I want to try the 310g stock, and maybe add some lead to bring up to 320g.

Mclovin,

"Look to the black and white cookie" for your answer.

P.s. I tried the 330 yonex and it felt really good. It made me hit flatter than usual, but the feedback was superb. Like being covered with butter ala Kramer

I'm the same way. I'd rather pick up a frame and start hitting with it rather than adding weight all over it.

Geoff is tirelessly working on the sups racquet of destiny (srod- need a new name).

As someone whose customized racquets before, having someone else do the work does wonders for you mentally.

Hopefully Geoff will post more pics.

P.s. to leather grip or not. Hopefully I will love it and buy several matching sticks! Just don't look for an eye patch.

Geoff: should i put in an order of 14 matching racquets?
Sup: yes 'but I don't wanna be a pirate!'

OK, I get the Seinfeld reference, but is that in answer to my question about a Yonex contact? And if it is, assuming I'm the 'white' in the cookie, who's the 'black'?

Lol. Now this is getting confusing. Like Elaine's boyfriends race.

The racquet is complete. I did not do a good job documenting the process. Here is an abbreviated summary of the process and work done.

Sup determined he wanted the 2008 Agassi specs of 355g/32cm/340SW and strung with Lux ALU Rough at 66lbs.

The racquet was measured for unstrung specs with a tournagrip which were 296g/32cm/279SW. Knowing that a set of Lux ALU Rough will change the static weight by ~18g, balance by 1cm and swingweight by 30, those numbers were added to the beginning specs. Sup wanted mass in the head of the frame so we did some trial and error of using the TW Racquet Customization tool to see what happens when adding weight at 12 o'clock. We settled on 4g at 12 o'clock. The new specs were used in the Customization tool along with the target specs to determine where to place the rest of the lead. The balance of the lead was placed as follows:

14.6g at 17.7 inches from the butt
22.4g at 5.9 inches from the butt

Inches were changed to cm to get more exact measurements. The grommets and bumper guard were removed and all lead was applied. There ended up being 2 layers of lead 4" long on the head, 4 layers of lead 7.3 inches long on each side of the head at 17.7 inches, 2 layers of 1/2 inch lead in 8 strips on the bevels at 5.9 inches.

Grommets were replaced, grip rewrapped, and the tournagrip was applied. Racquet was strung 2 piece head to throat at 66 lbs. Old school Head stencil (with red dot).

If Sup likes this frame, the future frames will be better documented. I am happy to answer any questions.

Hey, hey. It actually snowed down here...and school didn't close! Shocking, I tell ya, just shocking.

Lunch are leftover homemade hot wings (that I took to our club's in-house ladies tourney "player potluck" night). The food, sadly, was better than the on-court play. Of the four courts I watched, three were blowouts. My partner and I got dumped in the first round after losing a tough, but insanely played and ultimately enjoyable, #2 seed. 6-4, 7-5.
