Federer owes Djokovic a win in Rome final.

Djokovic turned out to be the savior of Federer's grand slam records in 2011. Its time for payback. Though Djokovic will definitely take lead in the year race at RG or Wimby or let say the worst case, post Wimbledon hard court season. But still it would be courteous of Fed if he could gift Djoker by winning in the finals. I know that the guy is 31 year old and on clay, Raffy is almost unbeatable. Maybe by playing absolute aggressive tennis like Gulbis did, he can achieve it.

All NDjokovic did was delay the inevitable. And it'll be all the more painful for mentally weak RFederer fans when BOOM. RNadal won 18 slams. RNadal already owns the h2h (19-10 overall and 8-2 in slams), including the most Masters 1000 titles in world history. So now it's just up to RNadal to tidy up the slam count and sweep aside RFederer for good.

RFederer doesn't like NDjokovic. RFederer wasn't complimentary in the slightest in their US Open press conference after their semi-final in 2011 (where NDjokovic smacked a forehand return cross-court, totally destroying RFederer's pathetic mental foundations).

RFederer isn't strong enough to play aggressive tennis like Gulbis did. Throughout his career, stamina has been an issue (has a disgusting record in deciding 5th sets). Unless RFederer wants to fold after 4 games, he shouldn't do this. Not that whatever RFederer does is going to win him the match, anyway. 20-10 h2h, here we go, Talk Tennis posters. :p

Rafa can't win 7 more RG.

RNadal won't have to win 7 more Roland Garros titles (although he easily could). RNadal would just have to find 7 from the four slams. RNadal made 2 US Open finals the last time he played it, the Australian Open final the last time he played it, and RNadal has made 5 Wimbledon finals since 2006 (a feat only RFederer can match), and RNadal is still at the tender age of 26. Saying RNadal won't reach 18 slams is simply wishful thinking. :p

Will Rafa also have 5 or 6 YE no 1 ?

Will he get at least a couple of WTF ?

Does he have the honor of having the least number of weeks at nmber 1 for a guy with 10 plus majors ?

Fed owes Djoko nothing. Rafa owes Fed a reality check about Fed's chances at RG. Can't wait!

It's going to be carnage tomorrow!

Roger owes it to himself to win this. Too many lost opportunities. I'm sure he'll try his best. If not, he still got match wins, earned some points, put himself back up in the race for now and can move on to Wimbledon with some hope. At his best, he's the best on grass.

After 2010 i was really concerned that Nadal might catch Federer. When you consider that Nadal has only won two slams in the last two years I believe the pressure is now off. I doubt very much that Nadal will even get to 15 slams let alone 17. This is a great thing for tennis. The last thing the sport of tennis needs is a 'Barry Bonds' record. I dont want to see tennis viewed in the same light as cycling, baseball, athletics etc

Hey with sufficient PED use, everything is possible.

If the ATP and ITF suddenly withdrew from WADA, Nads might be a lock to win 27.

But the fascinating thing will be what happens to his slam count in 8-20 years. Biological passports are coming. They caught Contador, and they'll expose the cheats.

Oh, btw . . . whatever happened to your avatar?

Djokovic is the winningest player at the Slams since 2011 with a 55% winning record. Nadal is second at 22%, and Federer/Murray are tied at third at 11%.

I was wondering that myself. Hitman is one of the Fedfans that I like here too, but his tone has changed a bit. I was thinking that he's doing the Clarky route of jinxing which is ok. Either that or as you stated, accept what is and not get deflated.

It's just his defense mechanism against the inevitable when RNadal  slaughters mental midget RFederer :x tomorrow and storms to his record 8th RG title without dropping a set or even getting broken. I think RNadal will go on to have one of his greatest seasons ever in 2013, if not the greatest in history. RNadal already pushed NDjokovic to 5 sets in AO last year, and RNadal has only improved since then while NDjokovic has weakened, so I think RNadal will win the next 5-7 slams in a row and crush all the hopes and dreams of RFederer fanboys by making their idol's false legacy irrelevant.

LOL same here, I like Hitman's posts but this sudden love for Nadal surprises me...

I believe Hitman's master plan is to colour Federer as the humble people's champion all the while praising Nadal to god-like status to the point where his domination starts resembling an evil tyranny of sorts, and thus it becomes the task of the valiant Federer to (metaphorically) slay the King of Clay and free the people from his stranglehold, and when he succeeds the people shall rejoice and mark that day as the beginning of the Golden Eagle era.

So essentially the reverse of what happened in 2008.

Ofcourse that makes no sense since Federer ain't beating Nadal and I have no idea how Djokovic fits into all of this, so I'm probably completely wrong.

no that's Bull-zilla-ism, or 616360ism.

I am thinking of following the faith of Clarky though. I think jinxing works. I said it looked like a novak win vs Berdych and then he wins that set, goes 5-3 up and loses. I should have said he had no chance whatsoever of beating the Berd.

2009 and 2012, both years when Nadal played Federer, Nadal got the biggest cheer when he walked out. I also noticed the crowd was laughing at Federer when he cried in 2009. I was in the stands.

And clearly Nadal had the most support at 2008 Wimbledon.
