Well good for Mahut, can't pull a massive choke like that and win and especially can't get broken serving all those doubles..

Mahut played best service game of the match to close it out turns out to be the difference.

Shame on the OP for not even including Mahut as an option in the poll. He had, after all, already once been a finalist in Newport and had won another grasscourt title only last month. It's not as if his grasscourt credentials aren't already well known (ask Isner)!

Great win for Nicolas. Titles really are like buses for him, aren't they? He waits years for one to turn up and then two of them arrive within a few weeks of one another! :)

Don't think it's over until its over, its tempting fate and a little disrespectful to the other guy.

this is disrespectful but calling Hewitt disgrace for ever being number 1 which was posted on last page and calling him pusher posted by someone couple pages back are not, got it. mahut deserves some titles wanted him to have some success ever since that heartbreaker he lost to Roddick at Queens a few years back in the final having match point.

'Iron Man' Mahut is back on the court playing for a 3rd time today in the doubles semis and if his team wins they'll play again in a few hours. He's also supposed to play in a Canada Challenger next week too. Mahut needs to get his own commercial for anti-inflammatory stuff like Isner has.

So "Iron Man 2" plays three matches in one day and has to come back on Monday for the dubs finals! Well done, Mahut!

Mahut completes his Newport sweep with a dubs win, partnering ER-V to a decisive superbreaker win. Nice week and month for the veteran!

Apparently some age records were set at this event(per Sharko)

First event in ATP history to have 5 players over 30 make the qf's.
First event in ATP history to have 3 players over 30 make the semis.

30sometings also did very well at Halle & Hertogenbosch this year, guess grass suits many older players.

vive le beau, do you know if there's been another player to only reach finals on grass & not on any other surface? mahut's been in 4.
good question... he might well be the guy with the most finals on grass without reaching any final on any other surface !

i don't know the answer... i tried mark edmondson: 6 titles, all on grass, in 12 finals... but among the 6 other finals, "only" 2 have been on grass.
any other suggestion for an ultra-grass-specialist ? ;)
(on clay, it's another story of course !)
