Is our population that fat? Pretty sure we don't have that many athletic builds with tons of muscle. I mean not to be rude or anything but I'm like 5' 11" or 6' but only weight 155 pounds.

You're still young, though, right? I'm 5'10" now and I was 5'10" as a HS senior. I wrestled 152 that year. I played tennis and rugby through college and was in pretty good shape when I graduated, and I was 185-190. Then I got a desk job and quit exercising and ballooned up to 250 max, and at that point I was fat. When my son was born, I decided I wasn't going to be "the fat dad", so I got serious about dieting and working out again and got down to 185 at the lowest and maintained around 195 for a year or so. Now I am 205 +/- 10lbs at any given time, and there's no way you'd consider me obese or even close if you saw me. My point is that 6' 155 at 18 is normal, but so is 6' 205 at 40 for the same exact person without being any more or less fat than average at either point. Your body will fill out as you get older, even without getting fat, so you won't be 155 forever.

Ah I see. I didn't take that into consideration.

Shocking stats:

Measured average height, weight, and waist circumference for adults ages 20 years and over
Men:
Height (inches): 69.3
Weight (pounds): 195.5
Waist circumference (inches): 39.7
Women:
Height (inches): 63.8
Weight (pounds): 166.2
Waist circumference (inches): 37.5

5'9" and 195 is "average" for a US male? That's downright scary.

In the 1960's the average male was about an inch shorter and weight about
165 lbs.

Visit a few cities in the U.S. and you will soon realize that the average
U.S. man has gained an inch in height and 30 lbs of pure muscle...

IMHO only the TW posters gained 30# of muscle

That average actually sounds low tbh. YES, the USA has ALOT of obese people. If you travel abroad you seldom see the amount of obesity you see here. The reason for this is because americans drive everywhere. Europeans walk and use public transpo. Third world citizens are too poor to be able to afford cars and many don't even have well paved roads.

Its the other way round, you drive around because you lot are fat. Even your cars are big and fat. Look at your food and its portions. I remember when over there, the average portion is 3 times what a normal person should be eating.

The only 3rd world countries with good roads are the ones the british beneficently commandeered and built their infrastructure for them. But of course they probably haven't maintained them well.

I won't drop names...but I do know a coach that has beaten Date krumm...convincingly.

Even watching her practice at the USO this year, I thought I could beat her.

I'm not sure why Date Krumm was selected, in the latest 'battle of the sexes' discussion, but she's a double specialist, which is another way of saying she couldn't hack it on the singles tour.

With some serious practice time, I could probably beat her.

Hell, if someone can convince her, by offering her some money, to play me, ($10k maybe?) just give me several weeks to prepare, and I'm there!

You wouldn't have to pay me a thing, I'll be happy to do it just to find out, and you can take some video, with the sole rights to it.

However the match might go, it could be interesting enough to do well on Youtube, so that it's worth the investment. (if set up so that each views pays a little)

WEEKS! WEEKS! Give me 4 years to prepare, and a national level coach, oh and access to a national training center and I still won't beat her. And I am 20 years younger than you and was a collegiate athlete.

Why are you clouding this goofy thread with relevant facts? This thread is all about baseless boasting and pathetic trolling.

This thread started off as a train wreck with LeeD defining a 5.0 as a really good college player. A really good college player is a tour level player who is missing a weapon! John Isner was a really good college player and look how he turned out. And, Devin Britton won the NCAA's as a freshmen and look how he turned out! (He might well lose to Date)

One more time...if you have an NTRP rating it's because you can't hack it on the tour. An NTRP rating is not a measuring stick against the pros, it's a handicapping system for your peers. Pros don't need nor do they adhere to the NTRP system. Ergo, the difference between a 7.0 and a 5.0 is not the same as a 5.0 and a 3.0. The gap between the former is incredibly larger than the latter. And if you played a 3.0 against a 5.0, the 3.0 would hardly win a point. I'd dare say if there was money offered, the 5.0 could win every point.

so you're saying a 5.0 male player would never win a point against her?

Yeah, pretty much. Let me cite further evidence. We have a women's tier 2 event here. I was asked by a former D1 male player who is now a 5.0 and 34 years old, to play in it. We all partnered with one of the girls. He and I wound up across the net from each other. I told the girl I played with to not hold back. She refused politely. No matter how big he served, he never got one past her. And when he hit big, the return came back at his feet. There was nothing he could do.

When he returned, the girl was already waiting on the ball. She'd just hit it back to him. The ONLY thing he could do was get the ball to me! :) But, he was nice and would try to win a point off the girl. Now she may have missed a few, but again she refused to go all out, and it wasn't for money.

I'm telling ya, world class players don't need NTRP ratings. If you play tennis for money, you cannot equate that to league play.

This is pure comedy gold. You could practice for months and you could not beat the top ranked girls 14, let alone any WTA player.

I'd guess, upon playing with a few female juniors lately, that you 'd have to play at the 4.5 range to consistently beat most of the higher ranked, but maybe not the TOP, junior 14. The TOP national junior 14 would match up against solid 5.0 men in a real match, but could outhit almost any 5.0 from baseline rallying, and stay with good 5.5's from the baseline.

Can we actually show how bad you suck? Or do we have to hide it with ridiculous video effects or by filming 3 miles away?

Not saying even TBalla get beat Date-Drumm, and you know I have the utmost respect for his game, but....
Date was No. SEVENTY FIVE in WTA when this thread started, not 4, not 33. And all signs THEN, she was going downhill.

Why would anyone poney up $10k for some rando to play a WTA player and lose?

I like the world this guy lives in. He thinks he is good at guitar and tennis, has a good build and that someone will front $10k for his benefit.

Obviously he is not serious or he is delusional. Anyone with a semblance of sanity would not feel so self important to think that they are worth giving $10k to.

Basically TennisSean is asking for 10 grand. That is what his post was. A solicitation for thousands of dollars.

Get a job bro.

Let's take a Poll...............would we pay to see the match of this century?

I gotta say that I'd pony up $50 if we get certain conditions.

1. Date cannot hold back and must win 6-0 6-0 to collect
2. We get video
3. TW posts it
4. We get enough money to even interest Date

While you and Tennisean have seemingly defied such a trend, even at your ages.

Simply amazing.

an entire match...and not one game. i don't believe it and as a G.O.A.T poster, it's crazy for you to think otherwise.

and how old was the girl? a fit, young 5.0 should get a few points on the pro, even if the pro UEs. no player is perfect. that's not good evidence to the contrary at all.

What level are you? Have you ever played someone 4 levels (5.0 -> 3.0) below you? It isn't impossible at all. As a matter of fact, it'd be a cinch. Now the difference between a world class pro and any NTRP rating is much bigger, that's the part you're not realizing. NTRP means squat when you tennis is your job.

Top tier national 4.5 would certainly be even with the very top 5.5 women.
As for a "falling" 4.5. Depends. Some can fall so far they get triple bagels.

First off, it's a presumption to assume I'd lose.

Second, even if I got smoked, it'd probably still be worth a watch.

They would 'front $10k' to get full video rights to the spectacle.

Ah, more of that lower-level ttw reading comprehension going on, huh?

I wouldn't want a cent, the money would be to entice DK to play.

In your delusion you missed the main point - no one cares. Get over yourself or play USTA matches which will prove how good you are. That's the beauty of tennis, it is all about wins and losses. To you it isn't because you are scared to lose, hence you are a non competitor who trash talks online where it is easy and safe.

Anyway, good luck raising the 10k. :)

He talks up his game but honestly he probably struggles to consistently win at the 4.0 level.

These ratings threads will always be GOATly.

I have seen the top tier national level 4.5s from TX CA FL and all of them would destroy D3 Collegiate GOATs.

A 5.0 man would get destroyed by a top 100 woman. I don't think most understand how good these players are.

When I played in college, I got the crap kicked out of me by Mikael Pernfors. He was just a little JUCO player at the time. He did not overwhelm you with power. I am not saying he could not hit it hard but he moved me all over the court. After about 4 long games (2 were at love and 2 at 15), I think I had already run a marathon. He brought me to the net, sent me back to the baseline... over and over and over; when he did not have me running to the net and back; he had me running laterally. I was playing well but sometimes; you just don't have enough game. He used parts of the court I was unaware could consistently be used from the baseline. :) He got 12 games and I didn't get 12 points.

I am very familiar with the best TX 4.5s and can tell you that JoelDali is right. The top 4.5s will destroy most DIII players. Of course, several of those are really 5.5.

Last week, I watched an 11 year old that amazed me. He was playing a current D1 woman. She was winning but the points were competitive. His 11 year old legs just couldn't keep up to cover enough court. I am curious to watch him progress.
