Does anyone have any thoughts on the TW review of the Volkl Organix 7 (310g and 295g)? Looks like its comparable to the Babalot Pro Drive.
You can get to the video portion of the review by Chris thru TW's youtube channel. I guess the written portion is not yet ready so it's not on the website yet.
I'm also looking forward to the 295 version based on the specs, but the 74 stiffness ratings do scare me a bit too.

not to nit-pick or anything, but shouldn't the overall score in the 310 review be 83?
I added it up twice, lol
Love it, loving tennis, playing well, sooo easy!!!
hard to see any negatives, i feel like a bit of a fool, really.
sort of reminds me of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation from Douglas Adams.
it is possible to be blinded to the limitations of mid size racquets by the sense of achievement one gets from getting them to work at all...
no wonder pretty much the entire pro tour have gone to mid pluses long ago..

The Overall Score is not an average of the previous scores. It is rather what the playtester's overall thoughts on the racquet were.

"sort of reminds me of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation from Douglas Adams"
What do you mean by this? Does it refer to the "ease" that the X-7 gives to your game and its also an analogy to the techno instruments found in Syrious Cybernetics...?
oh, you would need to have read the books, really.
it is a reference to a mythical corporation famous for making high tech stuff that was frustratingly complex and unreliable. I meant mid size frames remind me of them. ie, you can be so pleased to actually play a decent shot with them (because they are so demanding) that you forget you would have played that shot and a lot more with a larger frame..
to teh guy asking about stiffness : for me, very comfortable.
Today I was hitting with a 2003 Fischer racket, 102 head. 10.4 unstrung. Felt head heavy. I like it because I can just whip it around with strength and get nasty angles and massive spin. On serves it lacked a bit of mass maybe. No vibrations at all but felt nice and stiff.
So, maybe the X 7 is along this type of racket which you can use to crush the ball, get great pace, big sweetspot, no vibrations and light and maneuvarable to hit all night with it without that log feel of heavy, players rackets? And, do you think this extended length racket does not affect one handed backhand strokes?
loving it.
I play with 1HBH btw, I can whip it around fine, very, very happy
The stiffness of 74 scares me. But the neon green paint on the 295 is beautiful.
Hi Tim - your enthusiasm for the 310 has made me eager to try it.
I think I've read most of your posts on both new 7's. I understand that you haven't hit as much with your son's 295, but I am hoping that you can provide as much of a comparison as you can?
I also play with a one handed backhand and tend to enjoy 12 to 12.5 ounce frames for their plow through on slice and flat serves.
In your experience, do both 7's offer substantial plow through?
Could you please also indicate your strings and tension?
Thanks very much for sharing.

Hi Ben
my enthusiasm for the X-7 is undimmed, although ElDiablo is correct in my quest for a Donnay.
THe 7s are brilliant frames for the modern player, especially strung with a full poly at around 55. I fully intend to continue using them for doubles.
Solid plow through, no problem there,
Personally, I find myself a little late with my BH DTL so I am moving sticks for singles..

I found that the 310 has more if you hit flatter shots. If you hit with spin, the 295 has plenty of plow through, even without swinging faster, but it plays better when you swing fast, IMO.
Hit with the Organix 7 295 tonight against a D3 college level player. Strung with a full bed of RPM @ 55/53.
Incredibly forgiving with the perfect amount of controllable power for me. Off the ground, I could hit with heavy top, flat, and underspin with easy power and precision.
Being as maneuverable and stable as it is, volleys were dialed in from the beginning - I even started coming in on my serve
I was able to hit my spots using flat, slice, and kick serves. The 24 mm beam wasn't anywhere as cumbersome as I thought it would be - I would even go as far as to say that I don't think I've ever served better with another frame. I couldn't generate the same amount of heat on flat serves as I can with heavy mid-size frames, but there was more than enough power on tap to get some free points on serve. I found myself hitting more kick serves into the body, as the large head and maneuverability allowed me to put a ton of action on the ball.
My opponent can bring the heat on his serve - in the 115-120 mph range. The X7 295 was more than stable and forgiving enough for me to consistently slice/block first serves back, and I had little trouble stepping in to take big cuts off both wings on second serves. There were a few nasty kick serves that I normally would have shanked, but they found their way into the court with the X7 - this is the very definition of forgiveness in my book.
I don't recall having picked up a frame and feeling like it could do it all for my skill level until now.
And for those of you who are worried about comfort level, I would never guess that the stiffness is rated 70+. I used a full bed of RPM and it felt super plush and comfortable the entire time without a twinge of discomfort anywhere.
Thanks Volkl!
"What's better is the cosmetics--if you're cool! If you hit with any bit of spin, the stick feels great. Health club decision to conclude any hour"
I've figured out the main difference between the X8 315 and the X7 295 for me: Both provide excellent controllable power when hitting with spin, but the power from the X8 315 can sometimes feel trampolin-ish, while the X7 295's power feels more predictable.
Hope you're doing well! It's a beautiful frame, for sure. Enjoy it!
I'm really tempted to get the 310 version (can't demo). Right now I'm playing with a customized Yonex Vcore 100S - leather grip and 5 grams of lead tape on the hoop making it 335 grams and 5 points HL. X7 310 with leather grip and an overgrip should make the balance about same with a little more static weight.
How is the grip size on Volkls? The 100S I have is 4 1/4 but feels like wilsons 4 3/8.
I am surprised at the lack of talk about the X7 295 on these boards. I have also never seen on out on the courts anywhere. Chris Edwards gave it a pretty glowing review, but if you search for posts about it here, you just get a handful. No love for the X7-295
I personally believe the x7 295 is one of the best sticks that I've ever swung. The actual play is totally different than you would expect of a racquet having an RA rating of 74. The racquet has good power, great control and excellent feel when strung in the low 50's with a good multi. At least that was/is my impression of it. I did replace the grip with leather, to add a little weight and shift the balance a little HL.
In a really stupid move after 6 months or so I sold my X7's and moved on to something else. I've been sorry ever since. I'll probably return to them when the price drops in a year or so.
Hey Charlie. What are u now using?
Hi Jack,
I'm currently hitting a couple of Prince EXO3 98s. They play pretty well, but I have a ProKennex Qtour 295 that should arrive shortly. I had an original Ki Qtour, but found it to be a little heavy in the 3rd set.
The X7's I had were 295 and easily customized and easy to swing, I'm hoping the Qt295 will be the same. If not these Princes are a good fallback.
I had never hit any of the Prince O ports and just wanted to try them.
Picked up 2 of the Green Machine 295. Having the X8 315 as my main stick. Hit with the X V1 and V1P.. I must say the X 295 is impressive. Yes.. It is a tad stiff, but I did compensate with lower tensions. The 104 head size doesnt get in the way. Its an easy hit. TW Chris's review is pretty much spot on...
How is the power level of the 295 to the V1 Mp?

Killer cosmetic, no less!
