Global Gut at $18?! No way man.
So, I've been using Global Gut 16 for the last few months. I used to use Pacific Classic 16 but they were unavailable at a time (I think it was back in January or something). So I decided to try some Global Gut because it seemed like a bargain. I've used these econo-gut before, Gaucho, Mamba, Global, I've tried them all.
I have to say that the latest batches of Global have been fantastic. At a fraction of the price of my default gut, Pacific Classic, I really can't complain. Their durability have been the best among all of the econo-guts I've tried. It's a hit or miss, but some of them had a ridiculously thick coating on them. Again it's hit or miss with the coating, some packs will have time, and some will be bone dry.
HOWEVER, at $18/pack, they may have lost their appeal. Because stringing these econo-gut, Global Gut included, it's still a nerve-wrecking experience. While their durability has improved and is among the best of the econo-guts, they are still not as good as the name brands. Lastly, the gauge inconsistency is still unsettling.
I ordered these when they still had the "Make best offer" option available, and I was able to get 3 orders of $11/pack x 4 = $44.
But at $18/pack and I still have to live with all of their flaws? No way man. And that's why I think they've priced themselves out of the market.
I hybrid my racquets, and I would have no issues playing with Klip Legend. I'll pay $4 more per racquet to get some guarantees.
